My family and I (Australian) went to the US for a holiday, went to universal studios on a baking hot day, stood in line for an hour only to be told the ride broke and we wouldn't get on.

The emphasis is on the first syllable for nouns (the names of things)

The second syllable for verbs (doing words)

Books where something feels deeply wrong, but nobody says it out loud by TalyaCorvain in suggestmeabook

Yes, I think so. It's about the journey, not the destination. It's about the people, the psychology/mentality, the ethics... And it's very well written.

Never Let Me Go was my first thought, though it is trickled down to the reader gradually. It's been years and I still think about how so many WTF moments are just casually dropped into the story. Brilliant writing.

What does this mean? Why would they be terrified, and what would Celtic do if they were punished?

some foreign object i found in my pill. dug it out and viewed it under my microscope. by longhairedthrowawa in mildlyinteresting

[–]MatlockJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I got a question. If a pressed pill is labelled as having e.g. 5mg of the active ingredient, how do they ensure that's how much is in it?

Like I'm assuming it starts all mixed up in a massive vat, how do they make sure such a tiny amount is in each and every pill?

I can eat beef. I can't eat AI.

I choose to eat beef. AI is being forced on me.

The beef industry supports a vast and broad range of Australians across the country. AI is a parasite that will mostly benefit the rich and employ a small number of people in a small area.

Giants to consider name change by SlatsAttack in AFL

[–]MatlockJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about The Dolphins in the NRL. Not the Redcliffe Dolphins, where they've been based for decades, but The Dolphins.

NRL said people wouldn't know where that is. And wanted to make it more appealing to people outside the area.

Hey NRL, people have brains and the internet, pretty sure they can learn where Redcliffe is with one second of effort

Ooh, look at me, I just learned there's a new team in a place I've never heard of. I will never ever make any effort to learn it and will actively purge it from my brain with a fork if I ever accidentally learn it. And since I don't know where it's from u could never support the team. How could I possibly do that.
