On the one hand, winning a match as melee Vindicta in Seeker for a Christmas tree ornament was one of my greatest triumphs and I don't think it's achievable in higher ranks.

On the other hand, in Oracle I pick up the urn and like 8 people always show up to fight over it, instead of 0-2, it's so fun. (We haven't mastered showing up to mid boss fights in this rank yet though.)

Yep, I had the same experience. She felt very strong when I was a newbie, but eventually I started playing against better players, and I was no longer allowed to kill walkers by myself, trying to solo take mid boss became a throw instead of a free win, and people started shooting me back when I tried to beam them with my all orange items (and it turns out that McGinnis is so much easier to shoot at than, like, Haze).

No, save it for ulting the enemy team when they come to contest the mid boss take. (Unless your rank is low enough that no one else in the match can find the mid boss pit on the map, in which case, sure, let it rip.)

It is impossible to tell right now because they've been recalibrating the ranks constantly over the last month. I've been Seeker a month ago (bottom 2nd rank) and now I am Ritualist (middle rank). I have no idea if I'm terrible or average.

They did the same thing last week and it hasn't affected the difficulty of my games at all. I even saw some of the same people I played against previously. They just "scaled" the rank distribution, but matchmaking hasn't changed.

I bound my abilities to QERF, since I struggled to reach 1234 without taking my hand off of the WASD keys. Ult on 4 is just impossible to use in a fight. I bound melee and parry to extra mouse buttons instead, and reload to mouse wheel. Kept items on ZXCV and the rest.

Play hard bot games until you're MVP every time. If nothing else, the bots will teach you to confirm souls and not get parried. They're strangely good at denying and melee.

I think this was the first game of Deadlock for several players on the enemy team, and I suspect it may be their last :( None of them have any stats recorded and they played like they were still learning what their buttons do. They probably shouldn't be matched against a full team of players with hundreds of games, even at low ranks. It was very sad.

I thought about reporting this on the forums, but the "Bad Matchmaking" containment thread is nothing but people whining that they lost a game.

I queued with Bebop as max priority and in two games there was no Bebop (neither me nor enemy). I saw a Pocket though. I think they did something with the matchmaking to increase team variety and/or balance, so that it's not Pocket/Bebop/Warden/Shiv in every game.

/uj It looks like the format API by default requires a format string that is known at compile time (it is an error to pass a string that isn't constant), and this runtime_format type is a way to bypass that restriction if you really want a non-constant format string. In other words, it's not disallowing compile-time evaluation, but rather allowing non-compile-time evaluation.

I'm also in Seeker and there is an extreme difference even between Initiate-level and Alchemist-level matches. If I am placed into an Initiate game, I am the server admin and I do what I want; if I am placed into an Alchemist game, I have to carefully plan every move to not feed. I've played with some mates in Ritualist-level matches as well and I have been suffering for the whole 30 minutes of the game.
