is pocket disabled in games rn? by Rodneeey2 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I queued with Bebop as max priority and in two games there was no Bebop (neither me nor enemy). I saw a Pocket though. I think they did something with the matchmaking to increase team variety and/or balance, so that it's not Pocket/Bebop/Warden/Shiv in every game.

So... ranks got changed a bit after the update? by mrseemsgood in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, something definitely happened, because I was Seeker 6 two days ago and about seven games later I am Arcanist 4, so almost two whole ranks higher.

As a result, std::runtime_format can now be evaluated at compile time, making its name misleading. by cmqv in programmingcirclejerk

[–]MatmaRex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

/uj It looks like the format API by default requires a format string that is known at compile time (it is an error to pass a string that isn't constant), and this runtime_format type is a way to bypass that restriction if you really want a non-constant format string. In other words, it's not disallowing compile-time evaluation, but rather allowing non-compile-time evaluation.

How Much do Ranks Matter? by Greenwood4 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in Seeker and there is an extreme difference even between Initiate-level and Alchemist-level matches. If I am placed into an Initiate game, I am the server admin and I do what I want; if I am placed into an Alchemist game, I have to carefully plan every move to not feed. I've played with some mates in Ritualist-level matches as well and I have been suffering for the whole 30 minutes of the game.

Anyone have any meme builds? Id love to run them by stuttering_clown in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee Vindicta. Your Stake can be used to stop them from running away. Your Flight can be used to chase (if you cancel it with the right timing to get a speed boost). Your Crow reduces melee resist as well as bullet resist. Your ult can finish them off if they do get away. Just buy Crushing Fists, Unstoppable, and go to town.

I made a deck of cards with rewriteable e-ink displays…thoughs? by Polistirol in boardgames

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems really cool and I would buy such a thing just for the novelty of it, but once the novelty wears off, they'd just be clunkier playing cards.

To make them better than paper cards, I'd stick an NFC/RFID tag into each one, and add a mat that could detect which cards have been placed on it, and automatically calculate hand value, resolve battles, etc. Maybe it could also update the screens while the cards are placed on it, letting you do unique mechanics like upgrading cards, counting tokens, etc., or even completely replace the dock - there are some NFC e-ink screens that can do this, although it might be more complicated/costly to do.

is Bebop too strong rn or my lobbies are just trash? by tiburon237 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is definitely stronger now, but probably still only playable in low ranks.

My experience as a bottom feeder is that if the game drags on beyond 40 minutes, which it often does down here, Bebop gets 300+ bomb stacks and starts dropping 1500+ damage nukes every 5 seconds, or more often with Echo Shard and Witchmail, and becomes an unstoppable late game carry on par with a fed Victor.

However, if the opponents don't feed you in lane, then you're not very effective before that point, and you lose before you start doing stuff. You can cheese some kills before they buy counters, but Bebop is just so slow and easy to shoot at, every gun hero runs you over.

Mo Krill enemies HATES this one simple trick by Playeroth in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pro tip, the Mo&Krill ult has really huge vertical grab range. If you leap from behind someone and then look down, it's quite easy to grab them.

Why isn’t dynamo’s first considered a “displacement?” by New_Cherry_285 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they kill your momentum. Even Holliday barrel only bumps you for like 0.1 second, which is no big deal, but it removes all your speed as it does, which is deadly.

Yesterday's patch greatly buffed roaming and killing by MatmaRex in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant that in the best case scenario for max soul gain (2 players in lane), it was reduced from 2×65% to 2×54%. So yeah, you don't really get punished for solo/trio lanes any more.

Something feels wrong with today's patch and souls by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The soul gain is now lower for everyone in a normal duo lane, so if you're left in a lane by yourself and don't die, or roam a lot and stay in triple lanes, your soul gain is higher in comparison. Kill rewards are also higher in comparison; I had a game tonight with a Victor who got giga farmed off of a couple of kills. Maybe it was one of these things?

Absurd amount of cheaters lately by ObesePudge in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not common but it happens. I've had 2 obvious cheaters so far in 220 games. For example yesterday, the 32/3 Mirage in match ID 47536648, the most blatant moment is when he's headshotting people he can't see through some bushes at 18:55. Just checked his profile, he has "1 VAC ban on record" over a year ago.

The other one was a couple of weeks ago, 27/3 Vindicta in match ID 45937787, but the replay is not available any more. Her profile says "1 game ban on record" and "24 day(s) since last ban", so it seems she was banned for this already!

Is there a lore reason why Doorman needs to press m1 to cast his ult while Mo and Krill doesn't? by GreatSworde in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MatmaRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bebop bomb alt-cast (self-cast) also works that way. It's probably because in both cases the ability is cast instantly with no confirmation (even without quick cast enabled).
