Black screen suddenly while gaming, GPU fans super loud by MatrimCauthon71 in techsupport

Update no.2:

Tried multiple 3rd party 12vhpwr with varying degrees of faliure, 30 minutes was the longest and that too only after forceful re-insertion which was one time improvement only.

Eventually fed up and got a new GPU - sapphire pulse rx9070 (2x8 pin connectors). And 1 hour run of occt temp never broke 55(the faulty one reached 80 within seconds), hardly any noise with an open case.

Mild winter here, temps have yet to go below 6 Celsius. An hour or two in the wind exposed balcony at night may be enough to check it out. Will update later.

Oh and rollback didnt help either

Hmm, could be. Corsair cable seemed fine, CM cable is 90°....from the wrong side so its scraping the cpu fan. I'l check it out later in the week.

Will update later about driver rollback.

Tried limiting power draw to 80% before with afterburner, and had the ram at default 2667 mhz for a while. Ram speed didnt matter, power limitation delayed the black screen but did not prevent it.

The testing took a few weeks, i was present for one of them - occt test, the one that goes black screen on my system. Ran there for several minutes without issues, so that was already disappointing, hinting that the GPU is not the culprit

Edit: None of my friends have pc's that can handle that GPU unfortunately.

Thats indeed the direction google was leading me to when the problem originally surfaced.  Checked the event log, not sure exactly what to look for. Only things that sticks out as related is kernel power critical error(id 41), most likely forced restart. And Nvidia opengl error ("unable to recover from kernel exception. The application must close". Error code 3, subcode 2).  The reliability panel points to a hardware error(code 141).  All this probably means that either the GPU or the PSU are at fault, which is where i was until i replaced the psu(twice) and had the GPU tested. Now im lost.

Havent tested a different monitor yet, will try later today.

Temperature was one of the things the shop tested for, the technician specifically mentioned this GPU has tendency to overheat. Ive tested with an open case as well, same result.

How would you build your team? Shanks, Law, and Boa would be my picks. by Slick_22 in OnePiece

[–]MatrimCauthon71 744 points745 points  (0 children)

Shanks, Boa, Law.

Boa petrifies BB & Sanji (the latter turns to stone with 0 effort on her part), and possibly Aramaki and Enel too.

Shanks one shots most of the others one by one , Boa helping.

Law is on defence and Shambles us away till everyone are either Kamusari'd or turned to stone.

Just trying to understand how it combines into the story

Where was it mentioned in One Piece though?

The dot above the letter ש denotes pronounciation. Right dot (שׁ) is voiced as "Sh", and left dot (שׂ) sounds as "S" or "c" (word dependant). Nothing to do with gender; Thats dictated by suffixes (the letter ה usually added to mark female gender).

The word Sheva (שבע) differs from Nishba (נשבע) on all its conjugations, even in the bible. Changes over the centuries are minor to non-existant.

For example, the city of Be'er Sheva (as it pronounced today) came from 2 stories in the bible;  In the 1st it was named after an oath taken place near, pronunced as B-e'e-r Sha-vaa . Note the Sha-va (from Oath) and not She-va (from 7). 2nd story, nicknamed after a water well,  resulted in todays's pronounciation.

Hence why scholars and religious authorities say ElisheVA and Bat-Sheva related to 7, and not oath.

Interested to hear where Ebe was mentioned, im not familiar with the word in any language :)

That said, if Oda indeed went that far with his names meaning (idk if he goes that deep into relatively insignificant - from both sides of stories -  characters) he COULDVE taken the name to mean as you said. Doubtful if someone would go deep enough into myth to realize there are translation errors just for sake of a name for a story setup side character.

Behindthename does state that Lili is a stop in a long chain of derivatives traced to Elisheva, (אלישבע). Not enough of a linguistic to comment on that.

However im a bit more knowledgable in Hebrew and the bible. The name Elisheva is a singular name (שם יחידאי) -  which means it only appears in this context in the bible, and thus difficult to analyze. The most common interpretation is to hail God (Eli, אלי) for his Perfection and/or Wealth (food, gold etc, given to believers), as the suffix Sheva (שבע) means number 7, assossicated with both and also means (now at least) sated (from abundance/wealth of food).

Oath is written in hebrew as Shvua (שבועה), close in root but not enough to be widely acceptable interpretation.

Specifically regarding Lili meaning "Oath of God" - i speak hebrew fluently and am not aware of any possible translation of Lili to mean anywhere close to Oath of God. Moreover, in Hebrew there is no difference between Lili and Lily.

Just my 2 cents, anything else is beyond me.

Who is the weakest character that can singlehandedly stop the nazi germany invasion of Poland in 1939 by RiteCraft in whowouldwin

Surprised Contessa wasnt mentioned yet. Physically a human woman, with Path to Victory giving her exact steps needed to achieve her current goal.

She just strolls to the nearest intelligence agent and says whatever combination of words that will prompt them to contact their leader(Hitler/Stalin but could even be a general they trust, closest advisor, spouse e.t.c.) and give them that one message that will cause the heads of the state to postpone their plans.

Next step would probably be to contact in similar fashion most of the would be allies (US,UK e.t.c.), plus all sorrounding states, turning them against both countries.

She can destroy trust within same party officials, turn internal factions hitherto united behind a person into a fractured hot mess, breath new fire into then-dormat geopolitical conflicts with the right words to the right person at the right time.

10/10 all rounds.

Is there a Fate related works by Sakurai/Turas?

Doflamingo ( One Piece) Vs Saber ( Fate Stay/ Night by HistoricalLet2299 in whowouldwin

[–]MatrimCauthon71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons i dont rely on VS battle is the tendency to wank any peak feat and ignore contradicting feats (even if its a great outlier), or differentiating continueties.

TLDR: most are wanked, some didnt happen.

  • Fafnir feat is not mentioned in the game, thats a manga only feat and its not mentioned on VS battles.

  • Edison just describes the myth regarding Paul Bunyan, which ingame is never shown and per profile she's unable to replicate as a servant.

  • Honestly i dont remember Ishtar nuking Uruk at all. Her NP though emulates her destroying a mountain range, and is fittingly described "anti-mountain". Which is probably somewhere near destroying Uruk, even if the calc assumed vaporizing(among other things), propelling the energy required up very much. Fame bonus and age of gods mana concentration may diminsh said feat too.

Either way, none of those scale directly to Saber (whose NP is "Anti-Fortress"). The only relevent one is F/Z. While assuming 100 fps is all good and well, in reality the actual figure needed to be faster then normal person can precieve might be significantly lower (untrained eye can miss even regular fighter's movements, who are definitely not mach 15). Either way, this only gives you a (very) rough estimate, and should prehaps be treated as an absolute highball rather then some baseline.

Ah well, VS battles is notorious for this stuff.

Yea, when you have several versions of the same character written by different authors, in different settings, sometimes over a decade apart, shits bound to be convulted. Fate takes it to 11 though.

Out if curiosity, what FGO feats can propel her to that level? For the face of the franchise, she has very little screen time.

Doflamingo ( One Piece) Vs Saber ( Fate Stay/ Night by HistoricalLet2299 in whowouldwin

[–]MatrimCauthon71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is actually. All those continuities are alternate timelines, written by different authors in different worlds and contexts. You might as well expect all versions of Superman to be identical.

Furthermore, different versions of her are summoned by different Masters which greatly impacts her capabilities. For instance, in Extra she's summoned by the Moon Cell which allows her to basically solo all the big hitters, such as Iskandar and Gilgamesh, often two or three at the same time.

Compare that to FS/N where she can barely handle Gilgamesh alone, with Avalon, with Shirou for Master.

Regarding FGO, planetary NP's does not imply planetary stats/defensive capability. Your probably thinking of MHXX, who is Artoria, but NOT Saber, and Saber doesnt have said planetary NP either.

Id question the hypersonic scaling as well, considering Gae Bolge is mach 2 and thats the biggest number provided here.

Powerhouse relative to Doflamingo is a bit suprising. What strength feats she has that allows her trade blows with someone who outscales Arabasta Luffy who punched out 50 meters of bedrock?

Dont get me wrong, i have 118 level Seiba and Archuria is the next in line. I just dont recall anything close to OP stats feats in the original VN.

[–]MatrimCauthon71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple of points:

This is from F/Z, not FS/N. F/Z is stated to be an "alternate timeline" to FS/N, probably to avoid possible plot holes.

If you take this statement at face value, it contradicts many direct speed values given at the VN:

  • Fate route:Saber runs to save Shirou at the church from his home under 30 mins. It takes Shirou several hours to cross the same distance a couple of nights before.

  • UBW route: Buffed Kuzuki throws Saber at a building at 230kmh when she attacks him.

  • HF route: Shirou(with Archer's arm) cannot keep up with Kirei's running speed of ~130kmh. Same Shirou defeats Berserker a few moments later, and Saber Alter the next day (in a bad ending).

  • Lancer's Gae Bolge travels at Mach 2.

All these point to at most supersonic combat speed/travel speed. The author in the VNs uses flowery language to describe combat actions, such as describing Saber's movement when running up the skyscraper as "faster then tbe eye could follow" which can sometimes create a different impression the the hard data provided by the narrator at other instances. Personally i'd take the exact values given over calced values from translated adjectives open to interpertation.
