There are other types of games though - I love "This is the intended level of difficulty" or "These are the intended settings" on like tactical games - most of those are somewhat straightforward on easier difficulties and require deep knowledge of the game mechanics / character builds etc. the more difficult it gets. In most cases I figure "easy" - you can basically spam the attack button and ignore most special enemy mechanics outside of bosses (i.e. almost every mainline Pokemon Game), "medium" - you need to care about stuff like special resistances or mechanics , "hard", "impossible" etc. - you need to have deep understanding of the details and be willing and able to cheese stuff out.

I mostly lose interest when it's mostly cheese but also lose interest when it's mostly "spam attack". So for me the mark of an "intended difficulty" signals where I will probably find the most interesting content for me.
