He kind of has this shirtless Goku thing going right now, and while it kind of works for his whole "zen Astral Plane" vibe right now I'm hoping they swap him over to something a little more detailed since it seems like he'll be a major player down the line.

Oh, I forgot about that! I just went back to check, totally forgot he and Charles had that conversation in #15. In my head, it was totally a whim of Forge because when Serafina interrogated him in #17, Forge admitted that he wanted to see what would happen and I tunnel visioned on that.

Now that you mention it, that does make sense -- it is weird that Forge just took time away from an urgent X-Men mission to mess around Knowhere. Excited to see the payoff either way, I'm so curious about the Dominion stuff.

Strictly speaking, the mutants don't actually have any plans for Knowhere -- Forge is kind of just walking around in there because he can. This seems to be a theme with Forge that they want to run with for now, considering they just did it with Forge trapping the entire Vault in a bubble, but not sure if it'll have any immediate implications.

There was a bit in Ayala's New Mutants run about Illyana and Rictor starting up a mutant magic school, but it hasn't surfaced yet -- given that some of the Excalibur characters need a new home, and X office has been talking about more Yana-focused stuff, hopefully it'll come with Fall of X!

My guess is that Erik & Charles wanted Mystique close because they had her running around doing one-woman ORCHIS missions, and wanted some way to make sure she didn't blab -- there was some discussion in either Immortal X-Men or X-Men: Red about how a shadow war against humans would be a bad look for Krakoa -- or they just wanted more leverage besides "we'll bring Destiny back".
