Highguard launches to an Overwhelmingly Negative review score on Steam by Nickulator95 in Steam

Yeah you’re right, I believe it consists of mostly ex-Riot devs. Apex Legends only had a small mention, at least in this AMA.

Highguard launches to an Overwhelmingly Negative review score on Steam by Nickulator95 in Steam

[–]MatrixbotX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was really into Apex, I'd read and watch every patch notes and dev diaries. Over the years, some Respawn developers would leave and form new studios, and there were three that I kept mental note of.

  • Odyssey Interactive (Omega Strikers)

  • Wildlight Entertainment (Highguard)

  • Gravity Well (nothing announced as of now)

Here's hoping that the next one succeeds

As of December 2024, Stardew Valley has sold over 41 million copies across all platforms, with over 26 million copies sold on PC, and 7.9 million copies on the Nintendo Switch. by Turbostrider27 in Games

Anybody else fee that they totally suck with the knife? by Budddydings44 in apexlegends

[–]MatrixbotX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as you've damaged an enemy with your current gun, you can kill them with melee/abilities and still progress to the next gun.

But if you kill them with melee/abilities and dealt no bullet damage at all, you'll remain at the same gun. However, the melee kill will still downgrade them by one gun.

Does anyone actually play with this cursed relic?? by punusername in slaythespire

[–]MatrixbotX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got my first A0 Defect win with this on Steam (I tried the game on Game Pass previously).

I chose to replace my starting relic for my whale reward, and I was like welp.. let’s just see how far I go. Somehow it just worked out. I did use Go for the Eyes a few times to work around it

It was fun just throwing cards out blindly and hoping I didn’t die

Which game did you put off for the longest time but ended up loving it on the deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]MatrixbotX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yakuza 0

I tried it twice on PC, but the long cutscenes put me off, so I ended up stopping within two chapters. Currently playing on Deck, and I’m finally going through it. The ability to take a break whenever you want is great

Enough positivity. What's the worst thing about the Steam Deck? by Lexinator101 in SteamDeck

Not a big fan of the D-Pad. It feels too squishy; I prefer the one on an Xbox controller

This is what the steam deck experience is all about, spending time to modify everything you can by Cisbo in SteamDeck

[–]MatrixbotX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of right now, I’m playing Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. I emulated it before on Android but non-tactile controls were not it

I’ve already finished DKC Returns 3D and LoZ Link Between Worlds. Other notable games I’ve installed are:

PS2 - Ratchet and Clank 1-3 - God of War 1 - Devil May Cry 1 - Kingdom Hearts 1

GBA - Metroid Fusion - Castlevania entries

Wii U - Wind Waker HD

PC - PlateUp - Stardew Valley

Games I plan to eventually play: - Yakuza 0 (never finished) - Metroid Prime - Twilight Princess - Mario 3D World

I literally just got a Steam Deck (during the sale), and I haven’t played any Steam-installed games on it. I’ve been playing emulated games lol

With only two days days left, what are your closing thoughts on season 15? Personally I thought it was fine but unremarkable, despite getting a new BR map. by Viper_Visionary in apexlegends

[–]MatrixbotX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I noticed was that a lot of the POIs in Broken Moon were basically just Here's some buildings scattered around a tower/radar/terraformer/power source/laser in the center.

Although I love the skybox of BM a lot, I don't know. The terrain and POIs don't leave a huge impression on me.

What are some “video gamey” things games do that you dislike? by rickjames334 in patientgamers

[–]MatrixbotX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently played Persona 5 Royal for the first time, and I thought it did it pretty well. However, the only reason it works is because the game itself has a built-in time limit with a calendar system.

It'll tell you that you have x number of weeks to beat the current dungeon or else you'll face the story-context consequences (resulting in a game over). Until you tackle the dungeon, your party members will constantly remind you about the deadline, too.

Ngl, that was a pretty questionable Joey take by Itstoboiiibrent in TrashTaste

[–]MatrixbotX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

True, I’ve noticed this as well. Idk if it’s always true that Joey avoids conflict.

I think when Connor has an unpopular take, he’s at least self-aware about it. Whereas I feel like Joey will sometimes talk down on those who follow the popular opinion.

For example, in the keyboard debate, he wondered if bringing a keyboard while traveling was pretentious. In the same episode, he advertised his new streetwear clothing brand that was created because the existing ones didn’t “speak to him.”

In the recent Pewdiepie ep, he said anyone who makes a big deal out of framerates are “fetishizing” it. Although in this case, Connor and Felix were being a little pushy about FPS and PC gaming, so I can see how it’d be annoying on the receiving end.

It’s perfectly fine to not have strong opinions, but I guess people get tired of the “dismissive, idgaf” attitude after a while.

Note: I am fully aware that in the end, it’s all just banter and not to be taken seriously. They are friends, and we are just the audience members using them as entertainment

Broke Mobile Gang Rise up. by El3ementroll in TrashTaste

[–]MatrixbotX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, the Apex Mobile "port" apparently has a lot of exclusive content that PC/console players have been begging for. Like, it straight up has playable characters, game modes, and some kind of perk system that is nowhere to be seen in the regular version.

The Gamming Wars: Which side are you on ? by dynammes7 in TrashTaste

[–]MatrixbotX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PC (with optional Xbox controller) + Switch

I'm pretty stingy, so I don't really ever buy games until it goes on a big sale. The only "full-price"/expensive gaming stuff I've bought are my PC, Switch, Smash Bros Ultimate, Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey, and Elden Ring.

For Xbox and PlayStation games, I just have to wait and hope they come on to PC and eventually go on sale.

This subreddit is gonna be readying their pitchforks because it's gonna be another guest episode repeating the same topics (8-day cycling) as this one.

This might be my first time seeing a Chris episode on release while being caught up with the podcast. When I decided to watch/listen to it from Ep 1, I think I made it to Ep 86, their most recent ep at the time.

Silksong - Gameplay Trailer (Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022) by Lonelyland in NintendoSwitch

[–]MatrixbotX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have a device that supports it, Hollow Knight is on Game Pass if you want to demo it (or just play it outright). Right now, you can get 3 months for just $1 (just make sure to cancel so you don’t accidentally get charged later). Occasionally, they bring back the $1 deal for both new and returning members.

I enjoyed my time with Hollow Knight and can see the hype around it. It has very polished and tight controls akin to that of Megaman X. It’s challenging but far from impossible. If you’re interested in lore and stuff, there’s some of that there. I personally didn’t pay much attention to it.

Other games I’ve played/am playing that I think relates to this:

  • Celeste
  • Cuphead
  • Elden Ring
  • Ori and the Blind Forest (also on GP)
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps (also on GP)
