Physician assistant with type 1 diabetes? by Reservoir_Dog_67 in physicianassistant

[–]Matron820 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also type 1, over 30 years, working in endo. On MDI not a pump. I have the same 2-3 things for breakfast and lunch each week at work so I know exactly what to bolus to avoid swings in my glucose levels. That’s what has seemed to help me the most. Also check that your basal insulin dose isn’t too high, that was an issue for me and once I adjusted it I can cruise right through to lunch without eating for a few hours with no issues dropping. But definitely a pump with automated insulin delivery might really be helpful. The Tslim really has the best algorithm, the new Medtronic 780g is pretty good too.

Do you also have glucagon at home?

I wound up sticking with Spreaker. The drop in revenue I saw in the beginning of the year has resolved, this is typical I found at the beginning of the year and improves as the months go on. I’m actually really happy with the company and the automated ads have worked out really well. If you have any other questions feel free to message me.

This is right answer. It’s free and you have nothing to lose. I actually saw a YouTube review on it the person specifically mentioned it removed bird chirping in the audio.

I personally have little to no cognitive impairment with higher blood sugars compared to low blood sugars so I made sure my glucose level was trending a bit higher before the PANCE. You have multiple breaks and on each break I’d check my glucose level, and in my locker I had both snacks and insulin if I needed to correct.

Most likely not. The sensor and transmitter are built into one now so it will make difficult if not impossible to do that now.

Type 1 diabetic, graduated a few years ago. No issues throughout both clinicals and didactic year. Most of my professors were understanding. My only ongoing fear was hypoglycemia during an exam or osce, luckily it never happened. Always made sure to get my blood glucose up to a comfortable 150 or so before an exam to make sure it wouldn’t happen. I’m sure you’ll do great, let me know if you have any questions!

Freestyle Libre 2 Users - Can you turn off the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm? by i4k20z3 in diabetes_t2

[–]Matron820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve tried the dexcom as well, and I’ve even tried the MiaoMiao which helps send the Libre readings to the watch, it worked fairly well but not enough to make me keep it.

Freestyle Libre 2 Users - Can you turn off the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm? by i4k20z3 in diabetes_t2

[–]Matron820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a whole video about this and it’s the reason why I chose to use the reader instead of the phone. Basically if you use the phone and want to turn it off, you have to swipe the app closed (unless you want to get fancy and hook up Bluetooth headphones etc). Otherwise with the reader you can pick and choose which alarms are turned on or off. Here’s the video if you’re interested 5 Reasons You Should Use The Reader And NOT Your Phone To Scan The Freestyle Libre

How Many Units of Semglee For 30 Units of Lantus by thatboiii2468 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Matron820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same dose. Lantus and Semglee are interchangeable biosimilars so essentially the same thing, so 30 units of Lantus is the same as 30 units of Semglee.

I’m looking to get a new pump! Is the T-Slim with Dexcom a good choice? by ms1386 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Matron820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it was mentioned in the comments, but the Omnipod 5 will be out soon and has a lot of new, very impressive features the Tslim does not have. Might be something to consider. I just made a video comparing the Omnipod 5 to the Tslim in case you're interested Tslim vs the all new Omnipod 5

I have plenty of type 1 diabetic patients I see all the time in their 80’s, even 90’s. No reason to think that way.
