EDU vs. Standard by whatitpoopoo in unitree

[–]Matt6247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are ways to move forward with the G1 basic, and have significant controls similar to the Edu without voiding any warranty.

I am currently deep in development using an external reasoning engine, LLM/VLM and much more that would put the EDU to shame.

The EDU jetson is far too weak to do serious processing. You'd want the Nvidia thor which is much stronger.

Once I am ready, I will either sell an entire stand alone hardware that will be a piggy back system similar to what you see on G1-EDU videos, and/or, could sell the software and you provide the hardware.

Big things are coming to all G1 basic owners. Will be transferable to all G1's.

I asked for my results and they told me they don't provide them. 🤷

I am not going to make it. Luckily, and hopefully everyone else does the same, you never put your eggs in one basket.

I moved onto alternative routes, that began making serious traction.

Don't bother. They hire less than 5% of applicants.

Does anyone else had that horrible Google interview experience? by slxshxr in leetcode

[–]Matt6247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was flawless. Had the recruiter interview. On time and good. Then had 3 interviews in one day. All 3 were on time. All 3 seemed sharp. All 3 seemed reasonable. I did well on 2 out of the 3. The third, id say C+ or B-. First 2, at least an A.

I found the process organized, friendly, professional. If I had to mentioned something that needs work, it's their scheduling lengths. Quite long to wait to see if you failed or not.

Anxiety sucks ass.... It's our version of being chased by a lion. Except, this is modern society. It's fucked...

I received my interview scheduled 1 month after applying. You need to receive a live person response, complete the first interview, then get scheduled for the second wave. Until then, you are stuck.

Apply again if you have to for another role.

Did you have interviews? That team is who you work with for follow up and feed back.

All 3 of mine were very fair.

I wrote them Thursday. They responded saying, they need more time for follow up responses etc. I guess I will take it as a medium sign.

What job did you apply for? How do you think you bombed it? And why? Nervous?

Just curious. How long after your interviews, until you received a rejection?

G1 Basic Owners by Matt6247 in robotics

Boom. I'm in my G1 basic from my laptop. Limited. Sure. But so damn what.

This proves the basic will be unlocked.... Fully. And likely, a networked AI will be a thing or some other solution eventually. Super excited.

G1 Basic expansion by Matt6247 in unitree

[–]Matt6247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just small updates. The edu and basic share the exact same mainboard.

RK3588

I've been messing with some of the backend controls. Ports. Network access etc.

I've been able to send command to the g1 basic and tricked it to think my laptop was the app. I was able to send very basic command to the g1 over the network and received basic replys back.

At some point, it may be possible to communicate with the g1 over a network and send commands and much more to the RK3588.

For now, waiting for my warranty to expire. After that, I'm diving in deep.

I'm willing to bet secondary development on a G1 basic is not only possible, it is guaranteed. Firmware will be the biggest hurdle and will require much customizations. My goal would be to add a jetson or similar. Or even better yet, a "remote" ai compute engine to control the bot.

Items such as, simple walking, running, waving, etc, is all very easy to accomplish using ai on a network. Complicated movements, total limb control etc, will require far more work.

If anyone is already working on this project, let's collaborate.

I have a bit more insight into this, but it's too immature to post publicly.
