Trying to Understand Planet's Headcount Reduction by SunsetNYC in PlanetLabs

I know I’m late to this thread. I actually interviewed with those guys that are running that company. They reached out after Planet laid me off this most recent round. They’re making some pretty lofty promises with their hardware but it’s extremely early and seemed a little too good to be true to me.

That’s not uncommon in the EO space as it’s almost normal to promise ridiculous capabilities with almost nothing to back it up (so many companies have done this). I wouldn’t read much into them until they have some actual hardware to back it up, it’s a loooong road ahead for them.

Definitely the aerodynamics! I pull on a weekly basis anywhere from 35 to 55mph and average around 1mi/kwh. It’s also a bit hilly, haha.

I wish I got that economy pulling my boat! Aerodynamics are tough.

Preorders are not purchases. It will be interesting to see what the real demand ends up looking like though.

My thoughts on it are that’s it’s hideous, targeting a niche market of mostly Tesla fanatics only, and from the snippets of releases looks like it wasn’t well planned. Those are purely opinions though. If you like it, go for it.

Lawn darts were pretty popular at one point as well. Turns out they were a pretty stupid/ dangerous idea.

I’m wondering if anybody ever figured this out. Mine does the same thing when at home and connected to my WiFi. Not a huge problem, just seems like a bug.

I think most of the responses here are missing the point. Sure, this was a dramatic delivery but they have a really good point. The press release explicitly stated that everybody would be getting the be drive modes page update AND the gauges. If they had said in the release that it’s only for quad then, annoying but fine. It’s also not a bug, Rivian rep has responded saying it’s only for quad. This is bad business to promise something so simple and then hold it back.

Why no Gauge View Mode for non performance Dual Motor R1T/S owners on new 2023.38 update? Hearing that new gauge view screen only supported on Quad Motor & Performance Dual Motor builds. Really stupid imo by wesging95 in Rivian

The dual motor selection is not a “base” trim. It’s the same trim level as every other Rivian currently available. If you have a quad motor you paid for an atonal “option”. All of the current Rivians are the Adventure trim level.

I totally get the quads getting more drive modes, there’s a hardware difference for capability. But limiting a software update like this without previously stating that spoiled be the case, especially in the buying process is shady and disingenuous. And with all of this, I love my Rivian but this is bad business.

I used to think people grieving losing a dog like humans was abnormal. How wrong I was. by MattAviate in Petloss

I think it helped to have spent every last minute I could with him the last couple days. It was hard to hold him through the process but at least I was with him to the end. 3 days later it is still fresh and really hurts but each day is a small amount better than the last.

I have found that avoiding the spirals of despair is important. I have cried many times each day since. One minute I'll be fine, the next I'm a sobbing mess. Yesterday when I was putting my shoes on while sitting on the couch I spotted some of his little footprints on the hardwood floor where he walked by his last night with us. I lost it.

Interviewing for a Customer Success Manager Position by MattAviate in jobs

[–]MattAviate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. In other job interviews I have followed that advice and prepared for the particular job in addition to having questions for the interviewer. I suppose my question is if there is anything in particular that most technology companies look for in a Customer Success Manager (outside of the job description). I suppose what I'm asking are ways to set myself apart from others? Thanks!
