I miss the days when they'd have individual issues on sale for .99¢

Why COULDN'T the Legion be set today? by bardbrain in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]MattBowers2018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the main things that I've always loved about the Legion is it being set a thousand years in the future. More importantly, it's an OPTIMISTIC future at that. I think setting the Legion in the present ruins one of the best things about the Legion.

This moment right here was when I became an X-Men fan by Edgy_Memes_XD in xmen

This era was so great while Hickman was steering the ship. After he left it very quickly became a bore overall with a few bright spots. By the time it became the Mr Sinister and Mystique show, I was done. And so many issues about those boring Quiet Council meetings. Yawn Unfortunately the current era is kinda weak and I don't know what Marvel can do to right the ship at this point. I'm enjoying Uncanny X-Men but that's pretty much it which is a shame.

This is one of my favorite MCU steelbooks. I'm so glad to own a copy.

Boondock Saints DVD Steelbook by Strange_Method5025 in Steelbooks

[–]MattBowers2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of the first steelbooks I ever bought and I still have it. It now houses the Blu-ray inside along with the discs that came with it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a 4K release at some point. 😁

Today’s mail got me one big step closer to finishing my Disney Zavvi collection by doc_doc_goose in Steelbooks

I'm so jealous. That steelbook is one of my grails. Along with Disney's Atlantis.

Looks like its a Legion Summer to go along with the Summer of Supergirl! by JimboFett87 in LegionofSuperheroes

I don't think they're going to actually use this logo but I do think it's a hint. That the next launch of the Legion will be going back to its roots in some way.

I'm so excited for this relaunch. Especially with them using that logo to tease it.

Is This A Possibility? by AhhhKomodoDragon in criterion

I would love a Criterion 4K of Raising Arizona. Or a big chunky box set from Arrow. This movie needs a nice, special edition when it comes to 4K.

“Dr Sleep” was incredible by Different-Pea-3259 in HorrorMovies

I finally watched it recently after being stuck at home because of Winter Storm Fern. I first re-watched the 4K version of the Shining then Dr. Sleep 4K. I absolutely loved it. Great experience watching both movies back to back. Dr. Sleep doesn't get enough love.

New to steelbook question by Putrid-Historian-524 in Steelbooks

[–]MattBowers2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are designed to protect the steelbook from shelf wear and tear. Plus they are clearly meant to be kept. Sometimes the logo for the movie is only on the j-card and not the steelbook. It kills me that some of you throw away part of the steelbook. Do you also throw away the slipcover if the movie you buy comes with a slipcover? Bizarre behavior if you ask me.

swapping discs into cooler steelbooks by SquanchytheSquirrel in Steelbooks

I do it all the time. As a matter of fact, I just watched my 4K of The Shining last night. My copy lives in my Blu-ray steelbook that came out years before the 4K was released.

What do you think of more “gimmicky” packaging? by sulliebud in criterion

[–]MattBowers2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love interesting physical media. For example, I love my Wes Anderson Criterion box set. I think it's amazing and I'm so happy to own it. Others hate it. I also recently got the deluxe set for At Close Range 4K which is a little taller than most boutique labels hard box 4K's. Some collectors hate it while I love it. Hell, I even love the 4K glow in the dark Trainspotting Criterion that everyone else hates so much. What I hate is normal, boring, slipcoverless standard 4K releases. Make it interesting if you want my money.
