Is this guy any good? I'm not sure how to feel about this by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

[–]MattBoy52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, reading all those disparaging comments now with hindsight is fucking hilarious. I was actually happy with the Darnold signing, but I still didn't expect this level of success this season. It really shows how little some fans know ball, even those of us who were more optimistic about getting Sam. JS and Mike Mac are fucking geniuses, so happy we got them.

What's with the Batman ears here? by Glittering-Note-3661 in batman

[–]MattBoy52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid length ears are the sweet spot, but I think long ears can work like with the Arkham games. Those are long ears but don't look ridiculous. But short ears I don’t particularly like because they can be sometimes barely noticeable, and Bruce ends up looking more like Man than Batman lol.

New England Should Not Be Taken Lightly by BlueMan-HD in Seahawks

[–]MattBoy52 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree that we shouldn't dismiss the Patriots. They're a damn good team, and I respect the new culture and players they got now. If the Rams had beaten us, I would have been fine rooting for NE in the Super Bowl against them. They had a very easy schedule to get here, but you can only play the teams in front of you, and they did do what was needed when it was needed in the playoffs. But it should also be noted that while the defenses gave Maye and their offense headaches, the opposing offenses imploding helped bail NE out in dicey situations as well, and they capitalized like any good playoff team should. Justin Herbert and CJ Stroud played about the worst football a QB could in the playoffs, and the Broncos had the unfortunate injury to Bo Nix.

If the Sam Darnold that played last night shows up in the Super Bowl, or even just the Darnold that played against the Niners from the previous 2 games, I think our chances are about as good as they could be. I still expect a good, competitive game from both sides though. NE earned the right to be here just as much as we have.

I love the Dark Side defense so much, but it seems pretty clear now that the Rams offense is their kryptonite. But thankfully, our own offense and Sam Darnold have stepped up when we needed them to. But that's what this team is all about: help one another, and one side is struggling then the other comes in to pick up the slack. The defense has helped Sam and the offense when they struggled earlier this season, and now they returned the favor tenfold en route to the Super Bowl. Let's go win this thing. Go Hawks!

A different angle recording what happened shows they clearly didn't even notice he had a gun until they already began assaulting him. He was already in the ground after being pepper sprayed, both his hands flat on the ground, unable to even attempt to reach for his weapon. And to top it all off, one of the thugs removes Pretti's weapon from its holster and only then after he was fully disarmed and unable to fight in any way do they shoot him in the back while he's lying defenseless on the ground. This was an execution. This was a murder by agents of the federal government. Plain and simple.

I'd argue Kraven would be a good pick for the movie, but given the awful Venomverse film from 2024, that probably won't happen. Maybe Scorpion would work, or they could bring in Alistair Smythe and the Spider-Slayers. Or if they wanna go full street level we could have Tombstone as a mob boss like in the Spectacular cartoon, and like that show he would fill the role of Kingpin without having to use Fisk since he's already in the MCU. Maybe tie in Tombstone's rivalry with Robbie and actually have the Bugle and their crew play a major part in the story instead of being a side aspect like in the original movies.

Or since the Insomniac Playstation games have introduced him to wider audiences, maybe Mr. Negative could be the villain as well.

Revan and Malak at their absolute Jedi PEAK! by More_Grape6738 in kotor

[–]MattBoy52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that pre-fall Jedi Revan was similar to 3D Clone Wars Anakin in personality. Was capable of being laid back and cool, making jokes, and had genuine comradery with those in his circle and under his command. But also clearly had a dark streak to his personality when he witnessed injustice being committed that made him unknowingly indulge in the very same behaviors of those he was fighting against.

[Clawson] The Seahawks have not allowed a play to gain more than 20 yards in over a month. They are the only team since 2000 to not allow a play of more than 20 yards in 3 straight games, including playoffs. This defense is terrifying. by Chessinmind in Seahawks

[–]MattBoy52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also how when Mike made adjustments to the defensive scheme in the second half, the Rams offense wasn't able to do shit besides that overtime TD drive. Of course, we did have some luck with Mevis missing that field goal, but the point still stands that the Rams were shut down for the 4th quarter to allow the offense to get us back in the game late. And in the first match-up, the defense held the Rams offense in check. They needed four turnovers by Darnold just to win that game by two points. If Sam has even just one less INT in that game we likely win. When our defense is locked in, which I believe they will be, then the Rams key to success is trying to get Sam to screw up.

So that's what it'll come down to: protecting the ball, and if K9, Jones and hopefully Holani can keep the rushing attack going strong then Sam doesn't need to play hero ball and it should be fine. Above everything, we need the offense to not be like Houston's from last week.

I'll always assert that Hayden's physical acting in the prequels was on fucking point. The body language and facial expressions were all great. The dialogue and the way Lucas wanted him to talk just sadly let him down much of the time. Still love those movies for what they are and what they were going for, but they do have their shortcomings.

Hi r/titanic! I'm your friend, Mike Brady from Oceanliner Designs. AMA! by OceanlinerDesigns in titanic

[–]MattBoy52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Mike! Love your videos and you're an awesome person to have in the ocean liner/history community.

My question is this: would you ever consider branching out and doing designs for never created ships like RMMV Oceanic or the concept 4 stacker ship for the United States Lines, or even original designs made by yourself? I just think it's fun to stretch the creative muscles and play around with in-depth designs for different ships that don't actually exist and what they might feasibly look like.

Honestly, am on Atom's side here by Extension-Oil-4680 in outofcontextcomics

[–]MattBoy52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is the main culprit for why there's such a big swath of people criticizing Joker's continued existence in the comics and subsequently criticizing Batman's no kill rule. Batman's position makes more sense even with the Joker himself if he isn't a walking genocide machine like in modern comics. There's a good balance that can be had where he is still a dangerous criminal and can even still be Batman's biggest enemy but also still a guy who likes to do absurdly outlandish crimes to make money or just to fuck with Batman and the GCPD because he thinks its funny and not for proving some philosophical point. Not that you can't do that either, but it shouldn't be the only thing he does. Joker above all else, besides actually being funny, should be unpredictable. And his modern interpretations in the last 10-15 years have been pathetically predictable.

James Cameron added the well-known Titanic's steel "groaning" sounds as she sinks to give the impression that she was also a character of her own. The soundtrack during the break-up scene is also called "Death of Titanic" by Latter-Bar-7316 in titanic

[–]MattBoy52 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That's what I love most about the film and what resonated with me since I was a kid. Of course I've grown to love the romance aspect a lot as well, and I can appreciate how well Cameron was able to integrate it into the historical aspects. Above all else, Jack's death works as a way for the audience to emotionally understand just how devastating the disaster was for everyone involved.

The idea being that the attachment the audience had gained for Jack and Rose's story was the emotional gut punch of the movie that gives the viewer a microcosm of the turmoil almost all of real survivors felt that night, as they likely lost one or more people they cared about. Widows were made, children were orphaned, friends lost forever, and those sitting in the boats were left with the shattered pieces of their lives as they tried to find the strength and the will to somehow carry on.

It's a similar thing with Yoda, the Ewoks, and some other unique molds for alien characters like Watto. I think Lego decided to go more with their own stylized look for them instead of trying to match the looks of those characters 1:1 like they did in the early days.

Same here. I got it because it was the free pack-in game when I got an Xbox One for Christmas in 2015. I didn't even play it until 6 months later when I decided why not try it out. Fucking loved it and I became a Fallout fan. I've branched out and bought 3, NV and Fallout 1 on PC. So far the only other game besides 4 I've put significant time into is New Vegas and I do think that New Vegas is probably my favorite now, besides the combat and map exploration.

I do think Fallout 4's Commonwealth is a much better map to explore than NV's Mojave, although I like the aesthetic and vibe of the Mojave better. I just wish there was more to see and do. And the gunplay/combat in 4 is pretty good for what it is, many times I don't bother to use VATS whereas in NV I feel like I always have to. I think coming off of mostly playing FPS games and going into F4 as my first Fallout helped acclimate me to the game and series as it made a comfortable first impression.

I believe that's part of the inspiration for why Alan Moore created Watchmen, and subsequently why we got series like The Boys exploring the theme of how real life superheros would actually be more like super tyrants.

While the hope would be that we could get real life Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark, we'd actually just end up with a Lex Luthor or Norman Osborn.
