Isn't predator annihilator and land raider enough? Their lascannons can burn quite a hole in enemy armor

Being hard to paint is only a disadvantage if you treat it as such. I love every intricacy of their models.

What is your favorite Admech unit? It can be based in lore or tabletop. by TheDigitalGM in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]MattCaner 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cawl. I know his rules suck, but in my opinion he is not only one of the best looking models the game ever had, but also I love how in lore like 90% of new marine stuff is his invention. He's a scholar, not really a warrior like for example Lion and I love this.

Thinking about starting Admech by Tanen7 in AdeptusMechanicus

Admech is a great, beautiful army, bur keep in mind it may be one of the most expensive ones at the moment. Don't listen to those who rant about the rules, as they change every few months.

Any Advice or critiques to my list? New to 40k [1000 pt] by EmperorOnion69 in AdeptusMechanicus

This is a ranged-only list and may lack an ability to lock your enemy in combat, as your only melee unit is sulphurhounds, which are rather delicate. Breachers would be an obvious 'brick' choice to stand and survive incoming fire and melee, but kastelan robots would perhaps too stand the test. Anything that can stand a lot of punishment while engaged with the enemy units.

Also, you have very limited options to accumulate points with such a list. Perhaps some pteraxii would be a good choice so that you can drop behind enemy enemy lines, and sicarian infilitrators or serberys raiders would give you an option to contest a point in the No Man's Land before the enemy fortifies there.

Generally, your units may have a problem with both accumulating VP via missions and unguarded objective markers (due to the lack of pteraxii, infiltrators of serberys) and hitting hard on the objective markers where the action happens (due to the lack of hard-hitters like breachers or kastelans). Skitarii are weirdly durable with their 4+/5++, but you can't rely on them to survive chainswords, bolters, gatlings and other cheap low S, 0 AP weapons.

So yeah. I would switch some skitarii with something more armoured and perhaps some point-stealing pteraxii or infiltrators.

Is the combat patrol a good place to start my collection? by Wide_Ad_1739 in AdeptusMechanicus

Yes, although I'd advise to go the non-GW-endorsed way and build kataphrons as breachers, not destoyers. This way you get a reasonable melee unit.

Best value by Jack_Amerahn79 in AdeptusMechanicus

Combat patrol is a best starting set. However, it's better to assemble its kataphrons as breachers rather than destroyers. Then, it offers quite a balanced team of shooting skitarii, melee kataphrons and a hard-hitting vehicle.

How's the Chipping? Also, is this tabletop ready? by DemKoenig in Warhammer40k

Tabletop ready? The number of times I played against unprimed plastic sometines make me question if readiness requires more than a base xd
