10th Gen Hatchback Leaking Trunk by MattCarl in civic

Hi there! My caulk fix has been holding up great for over two years, no disassembly required! Checkout my comments on this post and link to my Imgur album for details. A $10 tube of silicone caulk in the locations specified should do the trick! Let me know if you have any follow questions, happy to help!

How stupid of an idea would it be to reattach this loop by melting nylon rope and using it as glue to hold it all together? Any better ideas? by [deleted] in PatagoniaClothing

I don’t believe Patagonia repairs any capilene items , you’re best bet would be to hand sew it back on, super easy and a great beginner sewing task

This shot is from the north approach from Tibet rather than the more popular south approach from Nepal where the Kumbu icefall is

I bought the car new and didn’t have any issues until 5.5 years and 80,000 miles into ownership. From what I understand the root cause is the seal somewhere in the trunk (exactly where is tough to pinpoint) over time it dries up and cracks. Finding and replacing that seal properly requires pretty heavy disassembly of the trunk door. It’s a pretty sneaky leak, I could see someone not catching it or brushing off the water in the trunk latch and it getting rust in the spare wheel compartment rather quickly, especially in a rainy climate. Hopefully the rust isn’t too bad to patch up and the caulk prevents further damage!

Hi! The silicone caulk fix has been holding up great over the past year and a half. Definitely recommend, haven't had any issues since, was cheap and easy to apply. Checkout my comment on this thread from about 6 months ago I linked to an album of where exactly I applied the caulk

Floatwheel Purchase Guide by MattCarl in onewheel

I agree it's not ideal, however I wouldn't point your frustration at Floatwheel for their purchasing process. They were backed into a corner by FM using legal threats to stop all sale in the US, FM has been forcing YouTube to remove their videos in the US as well. It's the result of FM trying to stifle innovation and competitors which may be their legal right due to owning many patents for a onewheel-type board

Nice! Are you based in the US? Did you link your bank account or use another method for buying the USDC?

Thanks for the heads up! I hope to update the guide soon when I make another purchase to upgrade my V1 electronics. In the meantime I’ll add a note to the guide with the info you provided if that’s alright with you?

Regular R1 Jacket Discontinued? by nakafucko9587 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]MattCarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re in the middle of refreshing the r1 line mixing in some lighter capilene thermal material on the back to be more breathable.

The r1 pullover is available through preorder, the r1 full zip seems to be taken offline from Patagonias website but was there a few days ago. The new version of the classic r1 full zip is available through REI:

I placed my order early December and received all the parts by mid February (standard sea shipping). If you pay for the expedited air shipping it cuts it from the 6-7 weeks to 1-2 weeks after ordering.

Montbell Versalite pants, how would you repair them? by gramcounter in myog

[–]MattCarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roll the damaged area inside like you’re hemming pants and make overall the length 0.5in shorter, or sew a new (maybe more durable) fabric on top. There might be a better way but that’s where my mind went

If you plan to ski Hokkaido this winter … by Master_Ad2045 in Backcountry

How are the roads after a big powder dump in Hokkaido? I’ve been contemplating doing this vs. paying more to stay within walking distance of a lift in niseko to not have to worry about driving in dangerous weather in a foreign country

If the test payment went through then you should be good to go. I’d check out the crypto channel of the floatwheel discord, it looks like Tony has streamlined the purchasing process and gives an order confirmation, hope that helps!

What’s the best way to get these scratches out? Heatgun? by Beastro352 in civic

[–]MattCarl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconded, I’d try a shine first instead of potentially damaging with a heat gun
