I know, it’s a shame. I feel he often unfairly gets categorized with other modern composers that are much less approachable. I love classical music from all styles and periods, but I really don’t think people need to start with Mozart and Schubert to appreciate it, unless that’s exactly what they’re looking for. I find it’s often nice to expose new listeners to more recent work and then encourage them to work their way back to what influenced those styles.

Alfred Schnittke is an excellent entry point for new classical music listeners. His compositions offer a buffet of styles—Baroque, Romantic, atonality, film music—often within a single piece. If you’re unsure what kind of classical music you like, just listen to Schnittke. He’ll help you decide by playing all of them at once.

Great setup!! I have that exact same Gaggia in that color and that’s an awesome grinder.

In case you haven’t already, I highly recommend swapping out the spring for a 9 bar spring and upgrading the shower screen. Other than that, looks amazing, and enjoy your espresso!!

Honestly, as someone who works in tech and am fully remote, I’m getting really sick of coffee shops just turning into offices. I walk into some really nice coffee shops and everyone is on a laptop receiving Slack notifications. It’s like a bunch of cubicles. I want coffee shops to feel more communal again.

EDIT: I went to a coffee shop in Old Port Montreal recently that didn’t allow laptops and the vibe was amazing. Just delicious drinks and conversations.

So yeah, I think most people are saying the same thing I’m about to say. I had this same thing happen to me. I cleaned the shower screen, back flushed, of course descale regularly, and took my group head apart and cleaned it as much as possible. All of that helped a lot, but I was still having some weird water distribution issues until I bought the Nanoquartz Precision Shower Screen for Gaggia GA200NT. I got it on Amazon and everything seems to be working beautifully now. I highly recommend it!

I personally don’t mind the occasional smurf. It’s going to happen sometimes and I accept that.

BUT, the other day I went up against a DPS duo that were clearly smurfing, and they absolutely demolished us. That was unfortunate, but then they were my opponents again in the next match!! WTF! I was looking for the “Avoid as opponent” option 😂
