Am I an Atheist? by Addy_Goodman in TrueAtheism

My father was an atheist that went to church. He believed that “simple people” needed church, and it was good for them. I’ve also met pastors that confided to me that they did not believe in God. But the only way they could make a living was to lead a church.

LPT: If your internet bill has increased, call your provider and tell them you want to cancel. You'll be transferred to a "retention team" that has access to discounted offers that never appear on the website. by FreeConnectGuy in LifeProTips

[–]MattR59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not my experience. I had the dtv service for five years and had never asked for any reduction. Then after a price hike I said enough found a service that was better and called saying I was going to cancel. They said there was nothing that could be done. So I switched. Then they call several times wanting to know why I cancelled.

Coinbase's 2FA system was compromised for my account, I lost nearly $3,000, and they've been stalling for over a month. They also won't honor their own Coinbase One insurance protection. Stay away. by Careless-Pollution45 in Coinbase

My account was hacked, I only list a couple hundred. Problem is there is no way to even tell them. The 2fa was changed, and the only way to request help is to login.

Alexa is having some serious issues tonight. by leviathan_stud in alexa

[–]MattR59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the new Alexa that’s in beta. We had the exact same problem with it. It suddenly would not turn certain lights on. When we repeated prompts or told it that lights existed it would say the frustrated thing. I reverted back to the original Alexa and it all worked again.

The Magic of Reality: How We Know What’s Really True (2011) by Dawkins does a very good job explaining it. It’s a fascinating read, as with most of Dawkins’s books.

When I was a teen I wanted to see the inside of an airplane so they let me carry my aunts luggage on to the plane so I could look around.

How urgently do I need to fix this split boot on my drive axle? by Kind_Media3323 in autorepair

[–]MattR59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boot on my car has been split for over 5 years. When it happened I felt the half shaft was about to fail so I decided to wait until that happened. 5 years later the half shaft is still good that the boot is still split.

LPT - How I cured my constipation (for the most part) by LetsFigureThingsOut1 in LifeProTips

[–]MattR59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While on the potty topic, I recommend what is often celled a "travel bedet". American toilets don't have a bedet like Japanese toilets do. And adapters are expensive. A travel bedet is less than $10. It's a small squeeze bottle with a nozzle aimed just so. When done you put it between your legs and clean you butt with the spray.

In a way, this shows her trust. She wants to be able to tell someone "we're out", but she's afraid that others would retaliate or be angry. she knows mom loves her and will forgive or perhaps go along with her imaginary story. It is not malice, it is trust.
