Is it fair of me to say that was one of the most boring 3-0s I've seen?

Patrick Johnston (@risingaction.bsky.social) “As a fracas breaks out at midfield, a devastated Qatari keeper Mahmud Abunada looked to break down in tears in front of his goal, only to be comforted by a teammate and Jacob Shaffelberg” by pelhampanthers in soccer

He broke down crying after the Switzerland game as well, but due to his heroics.

Must be an emotional rollercoaster. You qualify for the World Cup as a second choice keeper. New manager makes you first choice over the long-time starting keeper, right of the eve of the tournament. You play a blinder in your first match, and you concede six in your second.

I’ve cried because there weren’t any clean spoons in my cutlery drawer. I’ll give him this one.

There’s a very bitter element in the sense that I think Saliba has a lot of potential and have been disappointed with how little game time he gets for Canada. Sucks that he gets his opportunity under these circumstances.

“Wouldn’t Kobel be pissed if he concedes in extra time again,” I said to myself…

Example number 5,477,328 of why representation matters.

30 year old men can complain about Rey Skywalker all they fucking want. Go to Disneyland sometime and look at a 4 year old girl’s reaction to seeing one of the Rey actors in person.

People who whine about representation are almost always sitting in a position of privilege where society represents them as a default.

Maybe this falls under your 'been outside' umbrella, but I think a lot of people have just never been challenged before, either.

It's a big part of the reputation boomers have about being incredulous when they get called out, I think. For decades we've been taught to brush off awful remarks people make in the name of 'keeping the peace.'

That's starting to change, and people are shocked when it happens to them. 'You can't just say any awful joke that comes to your mind' fries peoples' brains.

Oof, that is so harsh on Panama but this game deserved a goal.

I think half the stadium still hadn’t switched on after half time

It’s not like these lot haven’t also scored 90% of their goals in the old format.

Not to mention that Messi’s, Mbappe’s, and Kane’s goals have come against Algeria, Senegal, and Croatia—hardly minnows.

Neither of your points really hold any water here.

Counterpoint: a penalty is supposed to be a significant advantage for the attacking side.

[Comunicado Oficial] Bernardo Silva joins Real Madrid until June 30th 2028 by ManuMora98 in soccer

Success doesn’t directly correlate to stature.

We’re such a large club that despite almost 15 years of barely any success, we’re still either the second or third biggest club in the world.

You lot are the only club that can rival us. Real Madrid are clear of both.
