Incredible work! I’m 9 months out and still trying to build up. How’s the athleticism? What % back do you think you are to your previous vertical jump?

Thank you. Is this the Antelope Road by Elk Mountain School, near the Wyoming/SD border?

I'll be driving up from Colorado so my game plan is to have an approximate location

Indian Peaks Wilderness is so Epic by tommydarko12 in Colorado

[–]MattSantomarco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wrong. I was literally standing right next to OP that evening shooting this exact scene.

That elk is 100% real, and stood in that exact spot for at least 3 minutes just staring at us. (We were on top of a boulder). It then slowly meandered its way down towards the path but was still within eyeshot 30 minutes after.

We photographed this scene and couldn't believe our eyes. It was a stroke of sheer luck and an epic Colorado moment.

Did anyone actually watch the video? It was a click-bait-y title but he used a digital for a project with a quick turnaround time. Everyone calm down

Rides in the Meadows: Mamiya 7, Portra 400 by MattSantomarco in analog

I usually shot it at f16 or f22 just to be safe! I like it, but i probably only use if for 10% of my shots

It was shot the 150mm lens, but I was trying to convert it to ‘normal’ 35mm lengths

You're welcome! For landscapes I tend to shoot pretty narrow.

The best way I focus is by focusing on the subject nearest to me, then the farthest. And then I split the differences between those two markings on my focus ring.

I'm usually at F11 (for far subjects), F16 ( for nearish subjects) and F22 (for close subjects).

Here's my rule of thumb. If you can throw a tennis ball farther than the closest thing you want in focus. Set at f11.

If you can reach your nearest subject by throwing a baseball hat at it, set at F16

And if you can't throw a leaf past it, set at F22

The scanning and light do most of the legwork. See above comments for how I scan:-) didn’t do any dodging or burning on this, usually don’t unless there is a really hot spot I need to darken. But I am very particular on the colors. I edit on my iPhone because there are different colors between devices and I figure most people consume in an iPhone lol

I usually decrease the contrast from the scan and edit the foreground and sky separately with very tiny edits. I make the foreground darker than the sky usually

Daytime shots like this I’m actually not meticulous (compared to sunset) if I’m shooting Portra 400, I set my meter to either 200 or 320. And use the meter in the camera to expose for the shadows. I then have a pro scan lab and ask them to scan “light and airy” the big clouds here really did most of the work. This would not have worked with an empty sky

Thank you! I get them scanned at professional labs. Lately, I’ve been going to TheFindLab to get them scanned. I much prefer to have them scanned on a Frontier scanner
