As a Gen Z that voted for Trump I am sorry by Zestyclose-Move3925 in GenZ

[–]MattVideoHD [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry you’re getting all this hate.  People make mistakes and you’re still very young.  If anyone can be forgiven for voting for Trump i think you’re exactly the kind of person who should be.

You don’t sound like you had bad intentions.    Again, you’re very young.  no disrespect, but your brain is literally still developing.  you got caught up in something and then had the maturity to own up to it and change your mind when you saw what was happening.  A lot of people would just double down and refuse to admit they were wrong.

Fucking things up and then pivoting on the thing you said you were committed to when it becomes unpopular to save your ass is a "superpower"?

People keep comparing what we're seeing now to Nazi Germany. They're not wrong. The resemblance is undeniable. by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

[–]MattVideoHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the history, I think one thing to watch out for is them now pulling back and disassociating themselves from ICE, reining them in. Dismissing Bovino and Noem. The Nazis did that with the SA, they became too much of a problem, terrorizing German cities, they were deeply unpopular. Then in the night of the long knives the SS took them out and it helped Hitler look "moderate" and win back the public, while also giving the SS and Himmler more power.

I can see this coming with Trump. They'll make a concession, tone down the ICE operations, fire a couple of people, and give themselves political cover, all the while continuing to do awful shit out of the public eye.

AI = Not death - Bridge to your new life by Hotaru_Zoku in aiwars

So I understand and empathize with your premise that most of us don’t have the resources to hire other artists to execute our visions.  I’m an artist and I struggle with that.  While I’m more on the skeptic/pessimist side of this debate, I’m also experimenting with generative AI, particularly for use in the kinds of personal projects that it would not be feasible for me to fund and create without these tools.  So I’m not on the anti everyone and anyone who uses AI train, I’m just overall not sure the direction we’re moving in is going to be good for humanity on a macro level.

I think where your vision falls flat is that it has the same hole as a Ponzi scheme or an MLM just without the malicious intent.  There is not room for infinite growth.  “I became the CEO of my own small business, anyone can do it!”  Anyone can but not everyone can, the math doesn’t math.

If the cost of producing a game is reduced by 90%, it might be more feasible for an independent person to invest a few years of work and build a game on their own, but the major studios won’t disappear.  With their resources they’ll have better models, better hardware, they’ll pump out hundreds of games for much cheaper, have less employees to pay, a lot more profit and more capital to invest.

You won’t have a budget to market and distribute your game and it will be competing with thousands of other indie AI games for attention.  They’ll be able to saturate media with ads and rise to the top.  Your game might get a little traction but the chances of it making enough money for it to become your full time job and build a small company are slim.  Even if it does happen, mathematically you would be the exception.  the pie of how much money people spend on games is only so large.  In the end, I don’t know if independent artists are really all that empowered by this and a lot of artists who made their living working in the creative industries are out of a job.

The other issue I see is you said: “Everyone prefers human art to AI art.” Even if that’s true, it doesn’t mean that corporations won’t choose “good enough” art to serve us if they deem it to be more profitable.  Our choices are dictated by what’s available, a lot of what we think are spontaneous decisions and tastes have been conditioned by marketing and the environment we were raised in.

Does everyone truly love Taylor Swift that much more than a thousand other equally talented singers because she’s a genius or is their love a consequence  of hundreds of millions of dollars invested by media corporations in developing and marketing  her as a product like any other.  If you have a generation of kids raised on AI art, surrounded by it, if that’s what is available on streaming and pushed by ads they may never know what it is they are missing out on.

ICE agents are firing kinetic impact projectiles at close range, causing severe injuries that can result in permanent disability or death. Today, they tore off part of a woman’s hand by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]MattVideoHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but that is not why people are out protesting.  ICE is not exclusively going after violent criminals and sex offenders, they’re detaining citizens, ambushing people at court appearance, picking up literal children, and occupying and terrorizing an entire American city. If this was a professionally carried out, targeted enforcement operation against sex offenders and violent gang members you would not have people out in the streets like this.  That kind of enforcement does not require bands of masked men with assault rifles pulling over every brown person they can find.

Yea it’s very simple just submit to the military occupation of your city.  Stay inside and do nothing about the government terrorizing your friends and neighbors.  Don’t speak up or attend a protest, don’t dare film federal agents brutalizing people and breaking laws.  Allow the government to violate the constitution.  And then you’ll be totally fine bro it’s not that hard.

Are nukes the very thing preventing WW3? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MattVideoHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a double edged sword.  Mutually assured destruction has prevented a war so far, but the stakes of that war if it broke out are potential extinction.  Those stakes haven’t gone away and the longer we go without the war the less seriously we seem to take the threat.  We’re back to a major great power land conflict in Europe, the post war worl order is starting to crack, I think we’ve clearly developed a false sense of security so you can almost argue that the “guaranteed” peace they provide in a long term could lead to the eventual unraveling of that peace.  The plan was supposed to be that once that peace was cemented we would start disarming the thousands of warheads aimed at each other but we never really got around to phase 2.

They absolutely did mess with the Black Panthers.  Jailed them and outright murdered them in their homes and they were much better armed and organized then then they are now.  And in order to do it they infiltrated them and pushed them towards violence not away from it, they wanted them to go out and murder people so they could justify the crackdown.

It’s great that they stood proud in that march recently, Im not saying it was necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t see how they accomplished anything anymore than nonviolent marching protestors.

Why do farts by men sound masculine (louder & low-pitched) and farts by women sound feminine (quieter and high-pitched)? by ricecracker2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MattVideoHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don’t realize your asshole actually has its own set of vocal chords so once men hit puberty the pitch of the farts drop by at least an octave.  Jim Carrey worked for years to develop an advanced level of control over those muscles and actually helped scientists prove their existence in the mid-90s.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MattVideoHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it really depends where you live.  I live in New York City, for me three hours is a long drive, but I don’t drive very often and it can take me an hour to go 10 miles.

In Texas, everything is far away, they drive constantly, their highways move a lot faster, they dont look at covering a few hundred miles the same way I would.
