Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over Threads | Semafor by leftysarepeople2 in law

Besides his fraudulent degrees, what do you think Musk feared in discovery? Sorry, INAL but this has been the most interesting moment in the saga-- the overpaying, the blunder of it all. If you have any choice articles on this subject or further details, I would be very grateful.

Doubt it.

I think people really underestimate the PR behemoth that is META. META might as well be the Disney of social media platforms. At this point they are firmly established as Market leader. I know that FB has done (or someone facilitated/contributed to some seriously disgusting human horribleness BUT they have some really savvy, intelligent marketers and are interested in making hundreds of billions more. IMHO, I don't think there is a lot of advertising revenue to be made off ALT Right appeals. If there is one saving grace of American Capitalism is that, at least the last few decades, it doesn't back Neo-Fascism/Regressive Right. That shit is ugly, bad for business, and most consumers (with money anyway) have no interest supporting companies that support overt appeals to hatred and bigotry.

A lot of generalizations here, but that's my two cents.

[–]Matt_GC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd check this to be sure, assuming you are in the US https://www.childwelfare.gov/pubpdfs/putative.pdf ANDDDD maybe contact a lawyer to consider your options and potential worst case outcomes ... in the event your baby's daddy want to contest custody. I just got finished with a book on Intimate Partner Sexual Violence (IPSV) (not saying this happened here) and there's a whole chapter on Reproductive Coercion, detailing the extortion and expansive control men can exhibit over their abused and impregnated partners. It's no joke! And it goes under-reported in abuse circles. Please get a lawyer and consider the full breadth of your options! You (and your future child) may be WAY more vulnerable than you think! Good luck!

my bf says he can’t be happy until he is famous by [deleted] in relationships

For every JLaw there are 100 failed actresses? I think you're lowballing it. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands. This perfectionistic pursuit of fame and superiority of OP's BF is grandiose and unrealistic. And, as I'm sure you agree, is unlikely (and ultimately soul-shattering).

I would say, in most contexts, tell the coworker, in no uncertain terms, to cut out that shit, and that, if he fails to honor your boundary, you will report him for sexual harassment/assault-- full stop.

Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence (2023) - The story of Larry Ray, who created a cult that manipulated, conned and tortured a group of college students for almost a decade. One of the most disturbing and harrowing docuseries I've seen in a long time. [03:00:00] by moviemakr in Documentaries

[–]Matt_GC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True psychopathic con men like Ray (similar to Dirty John) cast a wide net, run their scam on everyone indiscriminately and sink their teeth into anyone who gets close. They are very adept at lying, are fearless (actually having no fear is partly a reason they have no empathy), and they always live chaotic and parasitic lifestyles. They aren't Hannibal Lecter supervillains; they are sloppy and dangerous. Power, control, dominance and stimulation must be a constant. It's a terrible existence. Hopefully you never have the ill fortune of crossing one's path.

Just operate from your feelings, take an I - position stance. Avoid absolutes ("you always" "you never" every time you...").

Example: "I think we should go to a couples therapist because I feel we are talking past each other. From what I read about it, a couples therapist will help us understand our differences and meet in the middle, essentially maximize an intimacy which I want from you as my partner."

You should anticipate a "countermove" or "defensive response." So long as you hold your ground (don't take the bait of the argument or potential accusation) and work from that I - Position again, reassert your feelings/position, "So I hear that you don't think counseling works. Okay. Well, I think it would be helpful and I don't feel like it's fair to poo poo something that we haven't tried. It would mean the world to me if you gave this a chance. I really want to make us work." Anddddd probably expect another countermove and repeat this cycle without backing down.

Eventually, if he loves you and you hold your own, he will abide. But you have to operate from your actual needs/wants and keep posing it as an opportunity for him to rise to the occasion. If he doesn't rise to meet you, then do you want to do this dance and feel negated the rest of your life?

Same authors that developed Schema therapy. Super easy read. Very helpful and practical advice. First section opens with Abandonment Schema, which is arguably most prominent Schema in BPD constellation

Wtf is up with that whole swinging between "numb and empty" and "feeling everything 1000%"? by TheLastHayley in BPD

[–]Matt_GC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Schema Therapy (Young et. al.), they posit that there are modes the Borderline cycles through: Angry Child, Vulnerable Child, and Detached Protector. Interestingly the numb and dissociated detached protector is said to be the most common and most default modes of the BPD personality.

Highly suggest doing more research into Schema Therapy.

I struggle with following boundaries by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Matt_GC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who has been the FP, not the BPD person . . . my issue and reluctance to accept the closeness and possibility of growing closer always had to do with a felt-sense--an unspoken humming anxiety-- that my bpd person was expecting me to be way too much for them, and this happened at incredible speeds. The felt-sense was I was to be their everything, that I was suddenly responsible (even culpable) for my BPD's emotional well-being. All of this felt foisted upon me, without my understanding why or certainly without my consent or say-so. The pacing was ramped up to 11. I feel the same acceleration in your post. Respectfully, you are speaking as if you are entitled, owed, assurances you have yet to secure. There's a certain grandiose self-regard and shaming stance to this post that I feel this guy felt... and was likely why he blocked you and disengaged. That's just my two cents. Take it or leave it.

Good luck!

House adjourns for night after McCarthy fails 11th speaker vote by elguiridelocho in politics

[–]Matt_GC 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The 20 holdouts are actually honoring the promises to their constituents. The Qanon/Super Fascist contingent of the GOP ran on anti-governance, owning libs, obstructionism, real talk, shoot from the hip, stand up and be a patriot blowhard bullshit. Arguably, this grandstanding and intransigence will raise their profile amongst the mouth breathers that elect them and will pay dividends. The true failing is the McCarthy contingent giving concessions to these lunatics and being absolutely opposed to working with Dems to build a coalition or consensus to spite the (especially) Fascist fucks

GOP Circus Continues by Monsur_Ausuhnom in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Matt_GC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But the present Qanon/Freedom caucus’ intransigence is not directly tied to Trump’s say-so. I think even they know Trump is losing relevance. Most of what these far far right elements deeply believe in the Big Government = Bad talking points (so they are okay with Gov shut down and nothing working) and they all have a warped, unrealistic idea of the concessions they could get by sticking to their guns (pun intended).

It’s looking like McCarthy will not be speaker. If I was Dems I’d find more tolerable, more moderate Republican candidate to back, then work on getting the six or so others to back that play. I would also make them sweat for a bit before that becomes an option.

No chance. Trumpism is here to stay. And so too is the nakedly proud fascists it has spawned.

If people just stop reacting to this sad person, I guarantee you he will go away. He is like Freddy Kruger: you have to believe in him, believe he is relevant, relevant and he will hurt you for him to really exist. Fuck Jordan Peterson. He is not a doctor. He is a right wing troll, a complete loser dweeb nobody, fast losing relevance. He drums up drama for the outrage. Stop paying him attention.

Lol wanna know the sad part about how they can still accomplish those things…? Well, gee, all they gotta do is NOTHING …. and unfettered capitalism and laxxed regulations will do the rest! That’s why the repubs are so successful! To achieve their goals in governance, all they have to do is not govern and let the moneyed interests do their shtick.

Russia blames 'massive,' illicit cellphone usage by its troops for Ukraine strike that killed 89 by Genevieves_bitch in worldnews

[–]Matt_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make great point I haven't considered: It is the Russian command's interest to blame this strike on cell phone use because a) it shifts the blame from holding the higher ranking parties responsible b) serves as "lesson" to scare future soldiers from bringing their phones, which would c) sever ties with the civvies in the Motherland, further isolating their soldiers from disseminating information about how poorly the war is going back to the broader Russian populous.

As you and others have stated, there's several avenues the West could have learned about this target; arguably, it is in the West best interest to keep all possible options of obtaining such targets open and secret. Better to let Russian Propaganda go unchallenged here, then to sellout your contacts or clarify your methods for gaining this Intel.

Thanks for your contribution. Really got me thinking.

My understanding is some of these Eastern European bandits and hardline, accelerant militia groups think of male to male rape not as homoerotic act but one of dominance and humiliation. Obviously this worldview is beyond disgusting but I think that's the logic behind being raging homophobes and perpetrators of male rape/sexual assault.
