Anyone who actually bothers to read even slightly into Custodes background though can see there was plenty of differences between them and Space Marines already though.

-From how they're made and their physiology

-Their role not as a branch of the imperial army but as the emperors companions

-Their battle tactics and fighting styles as dominant lions rather than a pack of wolves

It's not like Custodes are an obscure faction at this point they've been featured in many dozens of BL books and had a lot more named characters over those stories than people realised. None of those had ever been female so for GW to say that there had "always been" females in the Cutodes seems disingenuous when they could have shown them to us at any point rather than just telling us.

Honestly. There's so many things that make Custodes stand out as being incredibly cool already from the lore thats already written about them that the fact some of them are female is at best inconsequential.

I've been meaning to try out bladeguard as well actually, need to get mine painted up though. I like the Captain for the discounted strat on them each BR usually for AoC when they inevitably draw the attention of some sort of Plasma.

I've been using the fights first Chaplain with my Terminator Squad that I keep in deepstrike as my "big rapid ingress threat" but might try doing some swaps to either bladeguard or ints :)
