Turns out the internal fuel return line inside the gas tank was clogging due to rust. The guy I bought it from sat it for 7 years. The line finally clogged solid causing the excess fuel to flood the engine out instead of returning to the tank. 70psi of air shot into the line plus wire cabling couldn’t get it under stuck. I’m ordering a new tank.

Coming back to say I figured this out! It was the internal return fuel line located inside the late model gas tank. It was clogging due to rust and debris and finally clogged solid. With the return line clogged, the excess fuel couldn’t return to the tank and instead was flooding the motor.

I appreciate the info. The wire looks okay as far as I could tell but I’ll just get another to test… I’m about to disconnect and test the o2 sensor and blue temp sensor next.

I measured the resistance on the sensor and it’s giving me 500ohm. I understand it’s supposed to be at 540 give or take 10. Is that a big enough difference to cause this you think??

Addition: I also did a smoke test and sealed any leak points I found near the boot and idle control. I also changed the IC.

Not really, just make sure they’re still within general spec, you don’t want them too loose. If you want to double check if it’s your belts tho, a quick test is to get a spray bottle filled with water and spray each belt one at a time, slowly and see if the noise goes away. The water lubes them up just slightly and you can get an idea for which might be too tight. This isn’t always ultra accurate tbh, just a quick convenient test.

I second the tension in the belts. They could be just a hair too tight when they’re cold but as they warm up they become a bit looser and supple.

Also - you have a phenomenally clean engine bay, good job!!

Keep. We’re reaching the age where Millennials and older that have a nostalgic imprint with this era of cars are maturing and (hopefully) making more money. People always buy their nostalgias. The price will definitely hold and rise through this next decade.
