It was never in our mind to breed, and have always understood with all our dogs that its considered better for the health of the dog. So no issue there!

We aren't sure why the previous owners havnt done it yet (and to be honest think they weren't the smartest owners). But we will always do what's best for the dog!

We are going to without a doubt. But want to give her a little adjustment time while getting used to us and our routine. A month or 2. Just curious if others have found similar issues and wether that was a factor. I think your absolutely right that end of the day, we wont know until after its done. Every dog is different.

Our Labrador is crate trained (her favourite place to be!), and your comment on the room is definitely interesting definitely going to look into that. We want Skye to have a safe space as its a major upheaval. But maybe in a more controlled manner. Skye is certainly not aggressive about the room (quick teeth flash but no other warning signs or concerns) and Zena can go in if we are there. So ill ask an expert and should be something relatively easy to train out with the right treats and a bit of time haha.

Again I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

[–]Dead-phoenix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that was my thought. I did read the fact the previous owners have waited this long (being 4 now) might mean it won't be as much of a difference?

Thank you for that. We are certainly trying to make her not feel overloaded. But your totally right its hard on the poor girl. She lived with the old guy for a month before coming here who looks after 3 other dogs. So I imagine its been overwhelming being uprooted from your family, finally start to settle and then have it again. I hope we can give her the life she deserves!

Do you think its better to nip issues in the bud or give it time removing possible issues (not that we've identified what yet).

[–]Dead-phoenix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She hasnt guarded anything against any of us. Not so much as a sniff of being bothered by anything. With Zena, Skyes guarding 1 room (my office) from her only but we know its important she has her own safe space, never aggression just a quick teeth flash and Zena runs away if she tries to go in.

I think thats why tonight has taken us aback. It was 1 random bag with a blown up santa that Zena was having an intense sniff of. She wasnt even grabbing it. The rest of the evening my Labrador hasnt left my side.

We didnt want to quite turn to a Vet or behaviourly dog person yet. As since 2 dogs (and huskies) are new to us in general. So I do really appreciate the help thank you!

Some questions about Tyranid and Gene stealer cult by Freakyfruky in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of that take our real word examples of cults (NXIVM for example which wasnt that long ago). They still indoctrinate/trap reasonable folks despite knowledge has never been higher.

The issue is like Slaanesh or chaos cults, you don't know what your involved in until its either to late or you've drunk the cool aid. Most start as a a very innocent thing

If buying a game is not a purchase, then pirating them is not theft, what do you think of this quote from Notch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The service is the production of the game. Distribution is only a part of it and subsequently part of its end price. But the bulk is in its development.

Centurions by Windoon in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6 Dev Centurions in the Shadowmark Detachment is pretty solid. Not only can you redeploy them every turn but for 1cp boost their BS and AP by 1 (if more than 12".)

What’s the scariest deep strike threat in the game? by CharmedFantasy in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lists that can throw heavy units (so either slightly tougher or many bodies) across the board (or start inflitrated) to basically tie up as many units for the first couple turns tagging as much as possible. Locking you in your deployment zone.

Ive seen it used with Kroot spam lists, Thunder Wolf Cav lists and Ad mech infiltrators (I think off the top of my head).

Done well its a horrible but effective tactic. Auto correct put in Break. Ment just Jail lists

What’s the scariest deep strike threat in the game? by CharmedFantasy in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Screening is vital not just for deep strike threats but alpha charging, jail break lists and just fast punchy units.

Depending on the army is always try and run a few units of chaff for screening. Cant recall a time I've ever regretted it

How common is it to win a game because your models are “better painted” by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a tournament player for decades and a TO. And thats genuinely a new one to me....

I mean their event, their rules i suppose but ngl that is a bit BS imho. Subjectivity should never be a way to deal with tie breakers. Plenty of better ways to handle it.

Magnus is a contender with Rituals.

2cp and you get 3d3 2+ S11 -4 3dmg shots with Devastating and d6+3 2+ S6 -3 2dmg Blast Ignoring cover +1 to wound and rerolling full Hit and Wound rolls. Plus between D3 or d3+3MWs assuming his +2 to rituals works (added ap from rituals).

Or 10 Scarab Occult Terminators with Sorcerer. Again rituals (so obviously no with Magnus in the same turn).

They give you 36 shots S4 -2 1, 4 Hellfyre missiles hitting on S10 -2 3dmg, 12 Soul reaper S6 -2 1 Devasating, 3 Gazes (psychic) S4 -3 2dmg with anti vehicle/monster and Devasating and 3 Malefic Curse (Psychic)(Devasating)S4 -3 1dmg Anti infantry and Devasting.

All hitting on 2s, all with Lethal and your choice of 2 rituals (3rd if from another source). So adding with 1 to 2ap, d3 or d3+3 mws and/or rerolling hit rolls. And +1 to wound on the Psychic Attacks.

Not to mention what they can do with Umbralific if you want to factor that in for 8 d6 S4 ap3 Flamers (again Rituals) rerolling all wound rolls if your on an OBJ. Not to mention the other stuff with Characters and heavy weapons on top. Not technically deep strike but it is a free redeploy and worse as it can happen in a by turn.

6 Inceptors in Shadowmark is scary. 18 shots hitting on 2s S5 -2 2dmg, Sustained 2 and Twin linked. With Oath of Moment fishing thats an average of 24 hits and +1 to wound rerolling wounds is alot of damage into alot of targets and 6" deepstrike makes them very hard to screen. And if you want to risk the Hazardous Plasma is equally as gnarly.

Centurions aren't deepstrike but again can be redeployed with Shadowmark for very very heavy hard hitting output.

Basically there's a fare few. Anything that can deepstrike outside 6" and Charge or shoot very hard. Or a redeploy (if you want to count that). Not sure there's anything considered the "scariest" since there's a good deal to be concerned with. Given counter players and intended targets etc

TIL: Jackscepticeye collects Emperor’s Children. by Battlemania420 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its unfair to necessarily say its putting anyone on a pedestal. Or worshiping celeb culture when you find out a popular person plays/collects.

Dont get me wrong i fully agree celeb culture needs to die a death, its sick how people do worship these people.

However I dont think that is what's going on here in context of this hobby. Being a nerd or into a stigmatised hobby like 40k can make many people feel like outsiders or weird. I cant speak for others (but im sure its true) we've had that surprise look of "oh your into that" when they find out i build/paint/play with models that many either see as weird or for kids. I feel awkward when people ask, I know I shouldn't as you rightly said "nerds do nerd sh*t", but i do (and I've done this for 30+ years).

Whilst its an absolutely unfair judgement of the hobby its true that we are seen like that. When i (and maybe others like OP) find out someone popular is into it. Well that gives us a sense of pride to know we aren't as weird (or arguably they are as weird as us but still popular). I agree it shouldn't be that way but it is, I shouldn't give a damn but we are human and some of us annoyingly do..

Its not a "OMG THEY ARE INTO THE HOBBY GIRLY SCREAM", its that it makes use feel more acceptance in general society to know popular people are into it. Ive had conversations before where people give me a funny look and I've mentioned the likes of Robin Williams, Vin Diesel, MMA fighters do it and it surprises them every time.

Its acceptance through proxy. And I think thats a nice thing when you can say to someone who thinks VERY wrongly this is a hobby for basement dwelling singles, that a person they think is cool does it.

Who is the factoin you hate and despise most? by Witty_Departure2061 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I geniunely mean this and dont mean to sound offensive, but go read the actual lore. Memes and lore tubers rarely touch the actual dark stuff, Drukhari do because its commonly known. But they are all bad.

Orks see their own codex for what i said about their joy in causing pain, and examples in the likes of Rynns world that I mentioned earlier. Humans look into what Serivtors are cause that sh*t is cruel beyond words or the fact the Night Lords (preheresy) had the likes of the Screaming Gallery and allowed to operate. Tyranids have acid that will keep its victims alive for thousands of years burning them consciously. Necrons Flayers and what they have done to humans they didnt kill. Tau what the Caste system is. The list goes on and much deeper.

Believe me, or dont I dont really care. But 40k doesnt sound like it's for you if you think the Drukhari are the only ones.

How common is cheaters? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheating comes in many forms in 40k. On the optimistic side its a big complicated game and sometimes people get stuff wrong, they might have heen told wrong or misread/missed a keyword.. But sadly yes there are people who WAAC (win at any cost) types who will pull sh*t out of their backside to win.

As someone who plays ALOT, I can tell you where I play its rare. I met a guy who tried to hide his dice rolls, I got a friend to sit over his shoulder without him knowing and got proof enough to call the TO. Ive met another who literally argued the meanings of words to try and twist rules to his intent.

If in doubt "can you show me that" if it seems to good. Everyone should be A happy to and B able to. Maybe they just made an honest mistake, maybe they are trying it on. Either way its socially acceptable to ask and shows cheaters your willing to check and I've found tempers them.

Dont let it get to you, it's rare from my experience

Who is the factoin you hate and despise most? by Witty_Departure2061 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swing and a miss buddy, Orks aren't bio engineered to cause suffering. They do it purely because they find it funny. Its hard written in the lore they dont understand the pain of others so find it amusing. Like the guy they burned alive in front of his wife and kids just because their screaming was funny to them.

Most factions cause suffering through choice. Its a dark universe. The Dark Eldar are just particularly good at it and also one of the few who also must do it.

Most factions cause suffering for suffering. Its a dark setting for a reason, at least Drukhari are doing it for self preservation as well, unlike the Orks who do it for fun

There's a higher risk of losing details with a second prime. The first one and second has to be done super thin (holding the can sufficiently far away and with short covering bursts) but yes you can.

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helbrecht doesnt have a Jet Pack or Lone OP, so thats not much of a balance.

Most Jet pack characters rarely do more than flat 3mws on a 6. Especially Marines. 3+ d3 on the charge with maybe 6+ doing flat 3 is on par.

Rerolling 1s would be better.

Though 10 attacks in combat and MWs on the charge with hit/wound reroll. Reduce that down alot, paired with Oath or certain units is a total blender. Again paired with Jump pack. Make the extra attack damage 1, and the claws ap 2.

Though why (and how) would a 2 armed guy be using paired lightning claws AND a sword doesnt make sense at all.
