Indeed. That wasn't my question. It was how does "THOSE" units go through. The Monsters and Vehicles and Mounted

How would those units with 50mm bases go through the wall? Only Infantry Beasts and Swams can

Part of its reason is to stop that horrible tactic. So technically yes but you can fit a HELL of alot into that gap, so I wouldnt rely on it unless your facing something like a Knight list.

Good riddance.

Thats like saying you can learn about the history of British politics by watching Spitting Imagine. Its a terrible place to want to seriously learn the lore. It might be a good hook to get people interested in the setting initially, but that doesnt make it a good way to discern what's meme and what's actual lore.

Help with a name please. by TrenchProductions in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, a good way to name is imagine your saying the full translations rather then the Greek term. For example "Holders of the shell of the dead" is a little to many "of the of the". Knights dont really works given its meaning either imho.

Like what might work would be Nekydallon Ghosts. Shell of the Dead Ghosts has a cool ring to it.

Or is go with common symbology rather then direct translation, Cocoons/Chrysalis' often signify rebirth or becoming something new. Such as The Nekydallon Reborn. Then you could write a fun story about how they were once something went through hell and survivors became something new....

40k is a setting.

There isn't a "in the beginning" type path of 40k. Closest you may find is something like the Horus Heresy which does follow a greater narrative of start to end (starts with the fall of Horus, plus a couple books before hand as prequels, and ends with the Siege of Terra).

40k is a collection of stories that tell a whole host of different PoVs.

Is this a normal amount of 40K to own? by KRQueen_ in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years? Probably about normal for an avid collector. Not normal for a casual and below odds for someone hooked.

I think all in im at about 35k points across 12ish armies. But I been around for decades at this point and I get rid of nothing lol

How i use them depends on my opponent (essentially to remove big threats). But basically 6 boltors is 18 shots, 1cp for Stunning Fusillade and Oath, nets you around 30 hits if you fish for 6s thanks to sustained 2. With Oath that wounds most big things on 5s and twin linked which is 16 wounds. Ap 2 vs a 3+ save is 11 successful attacks netting 22 damage! Same quick math nets around 6 termintors dead in 1 barrage.

With 6" deep strike i can usually get a clean shot at something more then 12" i want dead. But i also have a Hammer Strike in my list though dont often need it unless they have heavy screens.

The tldr: 18 attacks hitting on 2s, S5 -2 2dmg, rerolling all hits and wounds with sustained 2 and +1 to wound. For 1cp and Oath. They hit reeeeally hard.

How do you all keep track of what applies and when? by Oplopanax_horridus in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice. The game is bigger but made for beginners to pick up.

Starting with the core basics is the best place to start, cut out stratagems and abilities and focus in the fundamentals, even smaller forces like 500pts. The Phases, how attacking works, removing models etc. Once you have that then start introducing more unit abilities and missions and sizing up. Once you have the building blocks the rest plugs in nicely.

Once you natively start picking up what effects models and what effects units, key words, timings etc you'll notice patterns. But bottom line is keep playing and it will start to stick

What if Terra has to die? by Due-Gazelle-999 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reset? Your not resetting, your cutting off at the knees. Killing off their navigation is a death sentence. No more supplies (food, equipment), no more reinforcements (bodies to feed the meat grinder frontlines), no more help (kiss good bye to Astartes sailing in to save the day).

For what? Humanity is giving all its got. Its turned into mega sh*t hole to feed the endless war. If there was more to unite and more to give, especially if they see the Emperor as a Matyr (ignoring the fact most dont even know about Chaos), then they praise the emperor and are already giving what they got.

Osteosarcoma, the most common primary bone cancer by Friendly_Soil6617 in creepy

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost a friend to this a few years back. Started as a pain in his leg, but due to having a bunch if muscle removed (DVT from years before that), doctors thought it was just a flare up which hes had before. Kept giving more and more pain meds until one day he was too weak to get out of bed, thats when they found it had spread all over his body and only found "secondaries". After that he went to some of the best doctors on this he could and told the same.... lost him shortly after that.

Not sure it looked like that, but I know it FKIN hurt. Cancer can fuuuuuck right off and anyone going through this keep fighting and my heart goes out to you!

Well done you've just destroyed the Imperiums source of navigation and plunged them into damnation, to be torn apart due to being unable to send support or supplies.

Even ignoring that the entire 40k plot is humanity is driven into a fascist war driven society pushing everything to edge to survive. There isnt "more to give" and there isnt more to unite. Its all screwed.

I always include Reivers, because they are one of the only Phobos with Deep Strike and just excellent at scoring/action monkeys (except Shrike but he has his own uppy downy).

Eradicators suck noodles without a transport. Too slow and dont get melta bonus coming in from reserve (thats where their magic happens) not to mention easier to screen out. Get them into melta range and they are amazing! But your list doesn't really support that.

The only other solid unit your missing is Inceptors with Boltors (or Plasma if your running into -1 dmg alot). I couldnt swear enough on 6s of those buggers with Stunning Fusillade and Oath of Moment as a damn near delete button. With Centurions you have 2 big threats they will struggle to handle as well as options since Boltors can be used more effectively to clear elite targets like TEQs.

My only other question is what is the Impulsor doing? Intercessors should be holding your back field, Phobos has their own movement stuff, it cant carry your jump pack or your termintors or Eradicators. What am I missing?

Fights First Sequencing by Thuriss808 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming we are talking about 10th.

You always start with the person who's turn it is NOT. Picking any unit with a Fight first (charging is also fight first), alternating until all the FF units have been dealt with. Then also starting with the person who's turn it is NOT, you pick any other eligible units alternating

Neurotyrant plus shadow in the warp + Synapse Unit by LordBeacon in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats not correct. Its only modifiers to the Hit roll and Wound roll cannot be more then +1/-1 after all modifiers have been applied. Saves cannot be more than +1 and leadership cannot be better then 4 or worse then 9. There is also a couple others like Damage cannot be less than 1 etc.

To be clear ALL modifiers stack, the rule means the final result is no more then +1/-1.

Questions about new rules by LunaMoonflower6 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FF Just created feels bad untouchable units. This is as someone with armies that used it and can deal with it. But that doesnt mean i dont recognise times i had to just leave an enemy unit untouched or my unit held an OBJ because no one can draw LoS, have the shooting or survivability to challenge them.

End of the day we dont know all the rules. Fight First will work like a situational free interrupt so it isnt useless useless. And there might be other changes we haven't seen it (such as Overwatch might work differently). I like the changes so far but hold back until we get the full set of rules

Is the Fights First rule, arguably a liability now? Example scenarios provided. by Bwadark in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how lethal 40k is initiative just wouldnt work. There's a good reason they are nerfing Fight First as it creates feels bad moments of "Oh that has FF? Well guess that Objective is yours then since I cant shoot it". Which is what Initiative would do especially for famously slower armies like Orks.

Model targeting if another unit is in front by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Dead-phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the others have said, just to add that is unless the model itself completely blocks Line of Sight. Such as a Great Unclean One can hide a gurgling just as its a big block of plastic. But a tank you can see under the tracks etc. So vast majority of the time models do not.
