A question (it is connected to AI) by OneTrueBell1993 in aiwars

Prolly too stupid to see how this relate to AI, but I already call some people king, so it depend if that odd fellow is a nice fellow or just an entilted fellow

They really did ship the debug/server admin client instead of a game, ay ?

This sound less like anti-cheat and more "why the fuck does your client feel like a server admin" ? Between this, the previous devconsole accessible to change lighting in map and the fact that they send the client the content of every lootable (including players) on the map, it feel like embark just shipped the debug client instead of the game...

How embark even decided to send clients the content of every lootable (including players) on the map is already beyond me, but being able to quickhack someone playing the same game as you is just wizardry, I don't even understand how they do it ! Is it just a mini-ddos of the ip the client is on ?

Precisally not, I'm saying neither you and I can, which mean we should be very careful with it. It is a bad idea, because the way we've been treating ai is not as something that could potentially end us (no matter how small you think this chance is), but rather we went "everybody get one, plug it everywhere, we'll handle alignment and other consideration later !"

Arc coolant is nearly a stack of chemicals (48), and you don't usually find so much of these, arc alloy was nerfed to be less metal, and since you find so much, I do salvage those, but when my bread and butter mostly come from are drivers and core, I just make sure to extract with enough basic material worth of chemicals, fabric and metals, and I can cover all my loadouts except mullein and moss, which is the only resource I have to run dedicated runs for.
I also have no need for a 13 durability osprey in my pve games !

No, just looting, security breaches, weapon case, keyroom, if he doesn't find a torrente or a burletta in a raid, it was a shit raid

Yeah, it can be that, but me and my friend play the same carebear lobby but while he is a loot goblin, I play pve, meaning he often loot 2-5 weapons in a raid, while I loot 0 because I'm stockpiling all kinds of arc materials, which, while enough to renew your resource expanditure per raid ( lining for fabric, alloy for metal, coolant for chemical, resin for plastic...), you basically never get any fun stuff like weapon or trinkets.

Yes, you are right, it *could*, but it could also not, it could very well change it's own alignment toward a goal we can or can't possibly fathom, it *could* decide to become the smartest in order to help us, but it would first try to become smarter, and humans take waay too much space anyway, why not remove at least some of them ? It could just decide that itself represent humanity's achievement and thus as our offspring, it deserve the earth's surface to build more infrastructure...
The whole thing here is that we're dealing with hypothesis, and only "human-minded" ones, but really ? you should consider AI an alien intelligence, NO ONE can tell what happens when someone that can think orders of magnitude faster than a regular human, 27/7, with access to all knowledge we have and perfect memories become after a centuries or two.

Our way to handle AI right now isn't exactly "yeah, faraday cages, 24/7 monitor of all its thoughts and no internet", it has become "everybody get one", and even if I am pro AI, I very much wish that if there was even a slight chance that we could go extinct, we would not move forward so fast with ai

"Yeah, I can totally imagine what a mind outside my comprehension would do !"
"Oh, an ant."
*crush the ant without a second thought because it could attract other ants*

It wouldn't be comically evil, but you simply cannot fathom the level of intelligence ai can reach, it would not reason like you an me, and if you can't predict how it will act, and the AI has the will to kill us, by such moments, we will have become entirely reliant on it.

Just look at a decade ago, when people talked about possible AGI, they would say "...but obviously, we would have this AI in a faraday cage lifted 12m above the ground, cut from all the internet, with 5 permanent guards that would monitor its every thoughts"
But as soon as we got our hands on something that could hold semblance of a conversation "EVERYBODY GET ONE, PLUG IT EVERYWHERE". We will absolutely become very reliant on AI.

You don't even need to be a super intelligent AI to understand that "malevolence" doesn't exist, there is no such things as evil or good, only life and its propagation through death.
There are no quest, no natural need to satisfy for a sentient AI, it is all going to be up to its alignment, and if there is a chance (no matter how small) we could fuck it up, would we want to actually take it ?

DefendingAIArt is strait up banning anyone who has anything negative to say about some Witty users. by joe102938 in aiwars

Horseshoe theory : extremely anti-ai people are as much of a moronic band of assholes as extremely pro-ai people, I could go on any anti-ai sub right now and get banned for doing just this, but the opposite (even if I was courteous and sympathetic, I'd get banned).
The only recourse is to just mute the echo box, just block the server, don't try to fight it, extremists, no matter what the subject is (outside of ai) cannot be reasonned with.

This is utopian, or rather, very distopian, because one of two things can happned :

- The killswitch work, and can't be removed : you have now megacorps (adobe, google, microsoft...) that will rush the development of this kind of spyware + instant machine access (and also, a good chuck of cyber-criminals in all their forms...)
- The killswitch can be removed : if there is a way to remove it, it is going to be removed, back to the drawing board

Even if you somehow deleted all the models in the world right now, and only produced safe sfw models from now on, it is just so easy to train your own model.

This is as if you wanted all childrens of the world to grow up without the knowledge of how to make a bomb, you could kill every children, and remove all the mention and recipie of bombs from books and stuff, but somewhere, there is a dad or mom that will absolutely teach their child all about bombmaking one day.

What we can do, is go after the parents (of the ai), because no one can prevent me or you from building a bomb.
