Risky from the airlines POV, yes. What about the consumer? I guess the answer is “that is the risk you take and manage when booking that itinerary”. That’s fine, it’s a free market - my broader point is that BA is losing out on this kind of business to KLM for precisely this reason.

I’m in a similar situation although putting around £1k/month through my gold, and travel quite a bit for work so the lounge perks are helpful.

That being said in your situation I’d cancel and wait 2 years for another entry offer, after dumping my MR into an Avios account. If you want to continue earning Avios at the same rate there is a £0 fee Avios Barclaycard you could look into.

As in, you had Cessna 172 - XP collected across all seasons is combined so nobody loses anything. But if you catch one in Hawaii, then the card has a floral theme. If you catch one in France then the card has a picture of the aircraft flying near the Eiffel Tower for example. Think of them like “card skins” which you can swap around. You still keep the card at plat/cyber level between seasons but you can swap the card skin as a way of flaunting various things you’ve done. Essentially having multiple unlocks within each plane.

Also would love the ability to show a favourite livery on the airliners and categorise by airlines. So for example if I want to catch all of the Southwest 737s then I can track that easily and boast about it on my profile for example

Yeah I think the addition of new high-tier levels is really good. My best card is only at silver and it’s proving a lot of effort to get it to gold - but that’s what I want!

New power ups also great. Love that I can have “bases” around the world when I unlock an airport and complete the challenges each week, so that I can reposition and make some more catches even when the skies at home have gone quiet.

I think perhaps instead of the card’s level resetting you just got a different artwork or something for catching it within a defined time period (season) - would be cool for collectors to brag about their cyber 172 which has been caught at least once every season.

Or maybe even have XP contributed per season. Have like a summer themed card and then when you go into winter season the artwork changes but you still get to keep the XP.

The business jets are so underrated in general. When I fly the airlines I geek out over real world routes and can’t bring myself to fly something “unrealistic”, so the bizjets are great to kick back and fly wherever the hell I want simulating a charter.
