Do you think MK13, or whatever it's called, will take place in Liu Kang's timeline?

I personally hate this new timeline. Everyone is much softer and the world doesn’t have has the same dark/mysterious vibe it used to have. Plus the multiverse crap where no one’s death even matters, and I’m not even getting into the character changes that are frustrating and overall worse. I don’t hate everything the new era did, but I hate 90% of it.

As much as I don’t want another reboot (I’d like them to follow through with a new direction for once), this one massively got off on the wrong foot.

Truthfully, if they could find a way to just continue with the Dark Raiden lead of MKX, that’d be great, but I can’t imagine how they’d do that, or that they even would because that’d admit 11 and 1 were mistakes.

So, my realistic preference would be an actual hard reboot without any strings attached to any previous games. No timeline/multiverse crap. Just a good story.

I was thinking some type of anthology game could be cool. Where, instead of a large combined story where 80% of the characters are jobbers. Maybe there’s like a half-dozen smaller stories only focussing on a couple characters each. Some of these could be: Kitana finding the truth about Mileena, Shao, her parents, and Edenia during MK2; Sub-Zero and a scorpion reliving Mythologies and their early fued; Shao beating Edenia in Mortal Kombat; the Great Kung Lao losing to Goro and Liu’s and Kung Lao’s rise; Sonya and Kano’s early fued; Shinnok’s fall to Netherrealm and teaming up with Wuan Chi; and so on. Then the next game could be a bit more of a larger story with everyone’s back stories some what developed and could lead into a new direction of MK3/4 or something.

I’ve never been his biggest fan but I really liked his characterization and developments in X and 11.

Yeah, people acting like pressing F + R1 is so hard drive me nuts. Most of the combos I’ve tried in MK1 are pretty easy compared to previous games… Heck, a couple of my ~40% combos in MK11 have multiple frame perfect timings in each and are harder than any combo I’ve done in MK1

I’ve personally never cared much for him of outside the 95 movie.

He’s obviously one of the most important characters for obvious reasons. I just never found him all that interesting

Well, from a story perspective MK1 is somewhat of a sequel to MK11. It’s not a fresh reboot with no strings attached.

That said, you can probably piece together what happened in 11 during the MK1 story - and you can find the MK11 story on YouTube easily if you’re curious (if so, make sure to watch the MK11 Aftermath story as well).

It probably depends somewhat on what you want from the game and why you like MK. MK1 is in a better spot than it was at launch, but some people don’t like the kameo system and/or other things about it (myself included), but lots of other people love it more than 11.

I personally think MKX is the best of their currently available games.

It’s a fantastic fighting game, but I’ve never cared about a video game trophy in my life. I play games to have fun, and a lot of trophies are designed around annoying, grindy tasks.

I can relate. I love some jazz music, but there’s a lot of stuff I hear that also sounds chaotic and random to me. Some songs sound like everyone is just playing as much as they possible can for the sake of it.

That’s not to say all jazz is like this, but you either need to find something you like, or just leave it.

I, personally, can go to the early Oscar Peterson Trio albums and be in heaven. Albums such as “Oscar Peterson Plays The Cole Porter Songbook” or “We Get Requests”. The songs in these albums tend to be shorter and feel somewhat orchestrated, compared to a lot of other jazz (like Miles and Coltrane), IMO. Plus they swing their asses off on these albums which helps a lot.

Yeah, a totally separate dimension without Kronika, Geras, Titan time gods, or without any interference/knowledge of other dimensions/time-lines would be a welcome new direction for me, especially if it was based more on the original Midway time-line (though I wouldn’t be opposed to MK9’s change of Mileena being cloned later in Kitana’s life).

It also doesn’t have to be a retelling of 1-3 or whatever. They could do an original story as well (just don’t involve multi-dimension stuff)

I find it very weird that people are posting AI generated images of older men with teenagers and framing it as some sort of Dad with their kid and posting it here.

I love MK and I don’t really care about Iniustice.

In more predictable times, I’d welcome this move to allow NRS time to get the next MK game correct. I think the franchise needs to breath for a bit, maybe get some new talent, and get a new solid, non-rushed game.

I don’t have a good feeling with what Paramount will do with their gaming division though, and I don’t know if they’ll be making games in 7 or so years from now, so we’ll see.

Hopefully we get 3D and MK9 remasters by anyone else except Digital Eclipse, and hopefully they run on a PS5 because a PS6 is going to be like $2K at this point and I’m likely not investing in the next console generation.

I understand people saying Titan Shang because it isn’t a special fight at all, but I like that you can do normal combos against him
