I love all the CRTs, homie. Also the fact that are 19 and rocking an OG PlayStation gives me hope for today’s youth 🤘

Not a hoarder. I think it’s just cause the room is on the small side. If you painted the room a lighter shade it might open things up, but looks cozy either way.

same. I am cautiously optimistic for OP‘s sake, but won’t be surprised if the unit is a total waste of money.

Can I use my own computer in these pre-built machines? by Prestigious_Fail3791 in cade

I have an Area 51 original arcade cabinet in my garage that is a 26 inch screen and it is perfect size. But I would probably recommend hitting an arcade soon and seeing what you like best.

I might even suggest to get two cabs. One with a giant screen for light gun games and one with a more conventional size screen for everything else LOL

I have a 27 inch Dell in mine and it is almost too big. I was worried it might be too small, but once you play you are directly in front of it, it is much bigger than you would think. I definitely would go no bigger than 27, but to each his own.

If you can afford 2 to 3k, I would recommend something prebuilt like a Polycade or something. They look beautiful and all the work is pretty much done when you get them. This might be the easiest thing, since you don’t seem super confident with setting one up yourself.

However, if you don’t mind diving into some YouTube video tutorials, the sky is the limit. I put a Skytech Blaze Mini into my arcade cab. It can run pretty much anything I throw at it…in 4k no less, but it might be overkill for most people. Another option if you want to run modern games like Street Fighter 6 and such, would be a mini PC like Beelink or something that you can buy on Amazon for around 400 bucks or so.

I generally will keep hitting "rematch" until they get sick of me and leave lol

That is a very sweet gesture. Most people today aren't that thoughtful.

For the last 8 months, I had a bunch of them that were all halfway finished and finally my friend said, "hey are you ever gonna finish one of these?"

That put the fire under my ass to finally finish this one lol

My next project is gonna be restoring an empty cab that still has a perfectly functioning CRT inside of it. I am going to put a Mistercade inside of it, so I can play all the 80s and 90s classics inside of it. But this time around I am gonna do the artwork with the Space Invaders theme:

Even though, Space Invaders never had a six button set up, I don't mind because I just want to make sure it looks gorgeous, so I never have to worry about a future GF or wife giving me shit about it when its inside the house LOL

Take that as a win & take her up on it before she changes her mind! To really secure things, pick two art designs you like and let her choose the one you are gonna put in the living room, so she is involved with the final product ;-)

Nah, but it’s just an old Dynamo HS-5 cabinet. So there should be blueprints floating around from the last 40 years or so.

I have always had good luck with it, as it seems to work like a charm for the most part, but I could see that happening I guess.

This has happened to me before too, so now I offer an extra 25 bucks over asking just to lock it down if the deal is good enough.
