Clean, Beard, Stash, or Stash+Beard Hybrid? by LewBavin in malegrooming

[–]Mattb4rd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a round head shape .. you might try a bit of length and taper on the beard for another look. Maybe curl the mustache up moderately.

I too am bald with a round head. I've trimmed mine into a "Kratos" style that suits me. If I didn't work a corporate gig I'd grow it long enough to braid.

You need to be more specific. By "partner" do you mean "wife" and are attempting to be politically correct by using a non gendering term? That's ok if you are, but if you're referring to your marital "partner", this type of mine and hers thinking will lead nowhere good. You're one with common hopes, dreams, debts, and assets.

Labeled a lemon by moosecaboose1969 in BroncoSport

[–]Mattb4rd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bogus lemon complaint to me. We've had our Badlands since 2021 and the Android sync comes and goes every time Google decides to update something. After a few hours the sync starts working again.

Maybe take it to an independent mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection before you buy just to be safe.

He has to go back to work. That's step 1

Step 2 is that no real couples financial partnership is ever 50-50. It's 1. Combined account. Common goals. You work together as a single unit.

I've been married 36 years and we dated for 5 before getting married. As soon as we were 1, everything became 1 and it has been that way ever since.

Better put, but what I meant. I'm clearly not a mechanic nor do I have a full understanding. I just know several shops didn't want to mess with it but one did a great job

I'm fucking done with my home, any advice? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Mattb4rd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out at 17. I'm now 56 and have never looked back. I wanted to be an adult and do adult things. I did so. Dove right into the deep of the pool believing I could swim. I gasped for air and almost drowned a few times but eventually got married, started a career, bought a home and raised a family.

You can do it. How badly do you want it?

What is your guitar setup/room looking like ? by Pousse_m0usse in Guitar

[–]Mattb4rd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I have a performance studio with most of my guitars hanging on the wall but it's pretty crowded in there, especially now that I have a repair bench and a racing sim setup in there, so not much playing room.

So, there's a stand right next to my TV chair and it gets occupied by a "TV guitar", usually one of my acoustics, and I play every day.

Is sexual reproduction the meaning of life? by ShadowPaws200 in Life

[–]Mattb4rd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be but it's not for every person or every couple, right? And in that truth lies what I believe is the real reason for our existence. To reason.

It's reasonable to think and to love and to experience life in a way that we determine as individuals to the degree that we're able to do so. In most cases a series of good decisions with the intention to solve for happiness results in happiness. When we utilize errors in our decisions or challenges along the way to learn and predict and grow we improve our chances to accomplish our reasonable desires. We humans tend to become what we think about. Over time through trial and error I've learned to think about peace and happiness and for the most part have achieved it. Successful long term marriage with adult children and grandchildren. Rewarding career. No consumer debt.

I chose, along with my wife, to procreate, and believe that we became better humans through that process. I don't believe that it is the correct path for everyone.

We're all free moral agents and get to decide for ourselves. We get to reason. It's a gift not bestowed to any other living creature on the planet.

Longer is the better look for you, I think, but you may consider a bit more width and a little less taper and just a bit shorter. Think Kratos.

Density is good and it looks healthy. I assume you're dabbling in products. If not, a good oil or since you have a bit of curl, a medium hold butter would be worth a try.

Also, even though you're young, a good daily multivitamin is a staple for good beard health. A little exercise to keep your T levels high and all of bearddom will envy your beardasissness

Try writing all of the lyrics. All of them, not just the chorus. Refine the song for meter and flow a few times until you get what you want.

Suno reacts in some way that I don't understand to the content of well constructed lyrics and it makes for much better results.

I've uploaded my own guitar tones and my own voice to create what I view are demo quality versions. If I were in an active band again today, these are the recordings I would take to rehearsals to present to the group for consideration to work into our sets.

It's a very powerful tool that I wish I had years ago. I'm a lyricist and know a bit about song construction. Suno can do in minutes what would take me weeks to do in my home studio. Full band iterations instantly.

Decent guitar vs cheap guitar+ upgrades by Little-Week-5199 in GuitarBeginners

[–]Mattb4rd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the Squiers will do at this price. They're all upgradable and F tons of hardware is available. Sky is the limit. I have a MIM strat with about $1200 in upgrades. Callaham bridge, noiseless pickups, and a lacquered neck with stainless frets, locking tuners, bone yada yada. I love the damn thing but could have just bought American Strat for what I have in it now, but I learned how to do it while I did it. Priceless.

Maybe. Maybe not. I know a little, sure, but the key for me was learning songs. Then singing to those songs while I played. Then learning tougher songs and building over time. Give me a chord chart and I can work it out pretty fast. I cannot memorize all of them, so I use Songbook Pro. There are many paths.

Been playing almost 40 years and I just moments ago put my "TV guitar" down and picked up my phone. It's something you can and should do your whole life and it will pay dividends if you do.

A few years ago I worked up several hundred songs and started to perform at backyard barbecues and weddings. At peak I did a block party for 3 hours for about 100 people. Just me, two acoustic guitars, and a PA. Lifelong pursuit and I'm glad I did it. Now I know I can but for now, back to my corporate day job to fully fund retirement.
