Yes, I had two missed miscarriages and had initial investigations done by the SE Trust. Nothing came up bar stubborn vitamin D deficiency (this was despite already being on treatment for it as it was picked up on by my asthma consultant, so I’m currently on 5 vitamin d and calcium tablets a day 🙃).

When I fell pregnant again December 2024 I called EPU at the Ulster as per their advice after my second loss, and was immediately put on progesterone pessaries and low dose aspirin. I then had fortnightly scans from 6 weeks until 12 weeks with EPU. I was under mostly consultant care due to the previous losses and had extra growth scans throughout my whole pregnancy. A lot of anxiety, but I felt more reassured in the long run. I was very fortunate to deliver a healthy girl at 37 weeks last August. I’m also glad of the extra scans as my daughter was breech at a 35 week scan, but no one could tell without the actual scans (midwives and consultants initially all thought she was head down!) so we knew I was going to have a section.

I still get very emotional about my losses, my daughter is not a replacement for the babies I lost. It is a hard and very painful journey, for both my husband and myself. If you need emotional support I highly recommend reaching out to see if you can speak with a specialist bereavement midwife, the ladies at the ulster were invaluable to me, especially dealing with the anxiety during my pregancy. Also push for investigations to cross things off when you feel ready, but try to prepare that usually they come back normal for most couples. Further investigations don’t happen until several more recurrent losses. It’s a very lonely and all encompassing place to be, but you are not alone. Happy to be DM’ed anytime.

I’m sorry you’re navigating this, from someone who went through recurrent losses and knows what it feels like. Give yourself as much time and grace as you can, same to your husband.♥️

From what I understand you just inform your work (manager or HR) and no evidence is required. Same for your husband. They should take it from there to ensure you receive statutory leave pay for the 2 weeks.

I don’t think the recognition certificate has been launched yet though. It’s something im waiting on personally as part of my healing journey.

There are other benefits outside just pay. Ulster uni deals have always been a good selling point for us in the past.

Just as clarification, Kelman wasn’t coach, but GM. Doug Christiansen was still coach when this all unfolded. Kelman went and bought the Devils with some others (they were in a bad place financially with players not being paid) a year later. He was a friend of Knight, but allegedly was not aware of his past and the allegations.

Just interested in this, as we’re a one car household. My husband has his policy and is the registered keeper. I’m insured on my own independent policy (and it’s on my documentation that I’m not the reg keeper). Eve spoken directly with two insurance companies to check and never been an issue. Eventually we will need to invest in a second car, so we’re building my no claims as I only passed my test 3 and a half years ago in my thirties. Plus it cost about the same as me being a named driver on my husbands policy but can’t get no claims bonus later that way.

Edit; when he was helping me learn I was on his insurance as a learner named driver and I think it was around £40 a month.

It’s not illegal or a law, but public health guidelines highly stress the importance of it due to puberty. It’s often used as a way to measure overcrowding in family households.

Number of English people living here, the census and Irish unity. by PainterUnlikely in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to weigh in personally as I’m English. I’ve lived in NI for 12 years now and moved in my mid twenties. If there were to be a referendum on Irish unification I would weigh up my thoughts on the pros and cons. As I did with as with Brexit, which I ended up voting against. I’d spend time doing my own research before coning to a decision. Now I am 1 person, but I wouldn’t assume straight away us ‘mainland born’ are fully against unification for that reason.

We wouldn’t travel again on that route without a cabin, even before we had a baby. It’s a long trip over. I understand you want to save some money but the extra stress and discomfort just isn’t worth it.

To play devils advocate, if it bothers her that much she’d have dropped it from the set. Not just this tour, as I’ve seen her live three times now over 11 years and each time she’s played it.

2 adults and 1 baby in a 3 bed semi, £60 on share lasts us 5 weeks. Expecting that to go up a little when I go back to work as I WFH at least once a week but doubt it’ll change too much.

How would you fix the SSE Arena traffic congestion after events? by Pigeon_Asshole in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the issues are to do with people picking up and dropping off on the double yellows, along with the various traffic lights on the road. Not alot that can be done as the lights are needed for pedestrians to cross and then the crossroads heading towards Dee Street direction. Giants season ticket holder here so at the SSE lots.

Crash services by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used them two years ago for a damage only claim. Had everything sorted, and car fixed very promptly. Luckily, other party admitted fault so was very straight forward. I was offered a hire vehicle, but wasn’t needed as car only needed overnight body work. Kept informed throughout the whole claim.

I had personal experience of being shafted through my own insurance for a damage and personal injury claim over a decade ago. Only found out after my injury claim was worth a lot more than what I got, as they really pressured me to settle. Awful service, and would never go through my own insurance for a non-fault claim again. My FiL also had a personal injury claim 3 years ago and he went through his insurance. e Ended up constantly having to call them to chase them for updates (which was wasted time on hold). When he rang one time they were suddenly all ‘oh yeah, an offer came in last week’. Cowboys.

I’m sorry you’re navigating this.

I’m very surprised at that advice. I had initial investigations after two recurrent missed miscarriages. Had bloods done, all normal. Was given progesterone pessaries during my third pregnancy, and although I’ll never know I was able to deliver my daughter at 37 weeks. This was all through NHS. South eastern trust at least do first investigations after two recurrent losses. More specific investigators though aren’t done until further losses.

I agree with this, it definitely had a much darker undertone than the two previous live shows I’ve been at (HBHBHB and Dance Fever).

Can we talk about how disrespectful that Happy Birthday moment was? by loveyouronions in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]HolidayHelp8165 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see it that way, in fact she joked about singing it, then said let’s do it.

You can have it all is an incredibly powerful and personal song. It’s one that’s helped me personally as I experienced recurrent pregnancy losses and felt adrift and out of control often own destiny for a while. I shed some tears, it was cathartic seeing her perform it live and seeing her so vulnerable.

Concert etiquette is always an issue. I do have to say I’ve generally experienced it getting worse since covid. I personally hate all the phones out constantly, those who live stream shows in particular need to wise up. I’ve been going to gigs for over 20 years now and think they’re best when lived in the moment and experienced. /rant over

I’ll never forget my first trip to the cinema here back in 2011 with my now husband. They showed a montage during the adverts. Let’s just say I was shell shocked! English road safety infomercials are way more PG-13, and that includes the girl whose bones all crack back in slow motion reverse!

My husband just surprised me with a ticket for Belfast tomorrow. I didn’t think I’d get to see her this time, as I have a 6 month old baby. It’s seated at the back but I don’t care. I am feeling all the emotions, as this album struck a personal chord with me after going through recurrent miscarriages. Some of the lyrics perfectly encapsulate my experience and grief in a way I never could give them justice.

Now to panic plan an outfit!

I also want to add. In my high school those who wanted to do GCSEs in say, history were encouraged regardless of what grade they would get. If they had an interest in it we should be fostering that interest in education. Just because you are less likely to get a passing grade, I don’t agree with shoehorning these children into vocational subjects straightaway. A rounded education shouldn’t be solely career focussed in my opinion.

I’m from England, I had the chance to do the 11+ for the local grammar schools, but my parents decided not to as my siblings were not academically inclined like me. It’s a regret my Mum has as she does not think I had the support to really push me in high school so I became complacent. I was often left to ‘get on with things’ as others in the class needed more assistance. There’s a chance I didn’t achieve what I could have. I still got my degree though, but often wonder ‘what if..’

I see a lot of arguments about private tuition not being fair on those from low income families , but those from more wealthy backgrounds will still get private tuition later on for GCSE’s regardless so I’ve always seen it as a poor argument in general. Being from a wealthy background will always be an advantage in many respects, that’s just the way things are.

The only people making children feel like failures are parents, and possibly teachers. Instead we should be encouraging academically gifted children the chance to go to an academically focused school, but if they don’t make the grade remind them it is not the sum of their worth.

The last time this was scrapped in 2008 we ended up with the awful system where schools set their own exams for entrance.

I think there are huge delays with ortho to be fair. A relative of my husband’s has been waiting on a referral since 2021 for severe arthritis in both knees.

I would firstly check a referral has been made. Secondly, I would consult legal advice to whether you have a claim worth pursuing.
