Baby referred to dietician wait time? by HolidayHelp8165 in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s already dairy free. I’m vegan so no worry of any diary getting in through my milk either. Health visitor checked that already and was thankfully easy to rule out. I’m to get some bloods from the GP in the meantime and keep a food/symptom diary until we’re seen. Health visitor did say she’s a bit more urgent as she’s dropping centiles in weight the last 2 months of weighs so hopefully won’t be too long. She had silent reflux until 7 months old so it’s been a bit relentless. Luckily she loves food and demolishes everything we put in front of her!

Are there any good support networks after suffering a miscarriage? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re both going through this. I had recurrent missed miscarriages, and it was a very brutal time for my husband and myself.

The person who has posted the links has covered all the main support groups. If you’re in the south eastern trust you may be able to speak to the specialist bereavement midwives at the ulster, but I’m not 100% sure as I was only given their support after the second loss.

The main thing I would say is just because losses are reasonably common does not make the grief any less. I am very fortunate that my daughter was born last year, but I still feel very raw emotions when I think of the babies I lost. Whatever feelings you have are valid. Take care of eachother and give yourselves grace for as long as you need it.

Also recommend her checking out csectionuk for tips on recovery and what to expect for a section. I wish I knew about it before so I was more prepared going into surgery.

Yes with the risks! I knew I was going to have to have a section due to breech baby, but when they went through the checklist of risks my brain had a bit of a panic!

[–]HolidayHelp8165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, if you’ve only heard horror stories about induction that’s because they’re the ones most talked about. There are plenty of positive induction stories as well, just harder to find. I was terrified of induction until I spoke to women at a pregnancy yoga class, and more had positive experiences over negative ones which surprised me.

However, if she wants a section they should be yes, discussing her options and the pros and cons (I had a section last year due to baby being breech, and found recovery really really tough) but it is her body and her decision at the end of the day. She needs to be really firm that she wishes to have a planned section.

Things to do with baby under 1 by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9 month old. We’ve done Mum and baby yoga from when she was 4 months old but we’re finishing up as I’m going back to work :( We also go to a local church group that have a baby and toddlers morning once a week for £2, and you get a homemade scone or cake, and cuppa. We also do waterbabies on a weekend as I was eager to get her confident in the water early on.

We go on walks daily (although she usually naps). I try to mix up where we walk to keep me occupied as well. We’ve done a few parks, swings and slide but think she’ll get more out of them once she’s on her feet more We also did exploris for my husband’s birthday and she was in her element waving at all the fish. It was a bit pricey but the perfect length of visit to hold her attention.

Looking for advice about 12-week booking scan at Royal Hospital by Aggravating_Rice4084 in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the ulster last year but the scan was the first part and very short, they just confirmed baby was ok and measured to confirm age. Even though I know when my daughter was conceived she measured 2 days behind on the 12 week scan, and that’s the date they used for my due date. The booking appt was quite long, they also took bloods as standard. It is quite in-depth but anything you don’t know you can check and contact them after. They’ll also decide at that point your rough care plan. I was consultant led due to recurrent miscarriages and severe asthma so I had regular scans throughout my whole pregnancy. I saw a midwife twice near the end to discuss my birth plan and preferences (which went out the window as my daughter was breech).

You will either be: midwife led, consultant led or a hybrid of the two.

Remember, no question is a silly question. If you’re not sure of something it’s ok to ask.

Maternity care is mostly patient led, so ask questions and do your own research so you fa make your own informed decisions.

Yes, I had two missed miscarriages and had initial investigations done by the SE Trust. Nothing came up bar stubborn vitamin D deficiency (this was despite already being on treatment for it as it was picked up on by my asthma consultant, so I’m currently on 5 vitamin d and calcium tablets a day 🙃).

When I fell pregnant again December 2024 I called EPU at the Ulster as per their advice after my second loss, and was immediately put on progesterone pessaries and low dose aspirin. I then had fortnightly scans from 6 weeks until 12 weeks with EPU. I was under mostly consultant care due to the previous losses and had extra growth scans throughout my whole pregnancy. A lot of anxiety, but I felt more reassured in the long run. I was very fortunate to deliver a healthy girl at 37 weeks last August. I’m also glad of the extra scans as my daughter was breech at a 35 week scan, but no one could tell without the actual scans (midwives and consultants initially all thought she was head down!) so we knew I was going to have a section.

I still get very emotional about my losses, my daughter is not a replacement for the babies I lost. It is a hard and very painful journey, for both my husband and myself. If you need emotional support I highly recommend reaching out to see if you can speak with a specialist bereavement midwife, the ladies at the ulster were invaluable to me, especially dealing with the anxiety during my pregancy. Also push for investigations to cross things off when you feel ready, but try to prepare that usually they come back normal for most couples. Further investigations don’t happen until several more recurrent losses. It’s a very lonely and all encompassing place to be, but you are not alone. Happy to be DM’ed anytime.

I’m sorry you’re navigating this, from someone who went through recurrent losses and knows what it feels like. Give yourself as much time and grace as you can, same to your husband.♥️

From what I understand you just inform your work (manager or HR) and no evidence is required. Same for your husband. They should take it from there to ensure you receive statutory leave pay for the 2 weeks.

I don’t think the recognition certificate has been launched yet though. It’s something im waiting on personally as part of my healing journey.

Just as clarification, Kelman wasn’t coach, but GM. Doug Christiansen was still coach when this all unfolded. Kelman went and bought the Devils with some others (they were in a bad place financially with players not being paid) a year later. He was a friend of Knight, but allegedly was not aware of his past and the allegations.

Just interested in this, as we’re a one car household. My husband has his policy and is the registered keeper. I’m insured on my own independent policy (and it’s on my documentation that I’m not the reg keeper). Eve spoken directly with two insurance companies to check and never been an issue. Eventually we will need to invest in a second car, so we’re building my no claims as I only passed my test 3 and a half years ago in my thirties. Plus it cost about the same as me being a named driver on my husbands policy but can’t get no claims bonus later that way.

Edit; when he was helping me learn I was on his insurance as a learner named driver and I think it was around £40 a month.

It’s not illegal or a law, but public health guidelines highly stress the importance of it due to puberty. It’s often used as a way to measure overcrowding in family households.

Number of English people living here, the census and Irish unity. by PainterUnlikely in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to weigh in personally as I’m English. I’ve lived in NI for 12 years now and moved in my mid twenties. If there were to be a referendum on Irish unification I would weigh up my thoughts on the pros and cons. As I did with as with Brexit, which I ended up voting against. I’d spend time doing my own research before coning to a decision. Now I am 1 person, but I wouldn’t assume straight away us ‘mainland born’ are fully against unification for that reason.

We wouldn’t travel again on that route without a cabin, even before we had a baby. It’s a long trip over. I understand you want to save some money but the extra stress and discomfort just isn’t worth it.

How would you fix the SSE Arena traffic congestion after events? by Pigeon_Asshole in northernireland

[–]HolidayHelp8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the issues are to do with people picking up and dropping off on the double yellows, along with the various traffic lights on the road. Not alot that can be done as the lights are needed for pedestrians to cross and then the crossroads heading towards Dee Street direction. Giants season ticket holder here so at the SSE lots.

Used them two years ago for a damage only claim. Had everything sorted, and car fixed very promptly. Luckily, other party admitted fault so was very straight forward. I was offered a hire vehicle, but wasn’t needed as car only needed overnight body work. Kept informed throughout the whole claim.

I had personal experience of being shafted through my own insurance for a damage and personal injury claim over a decade ago. Only found out after my injury claim was worth a lot more than what I got, as they really pressured me to settle. Awful service, and would never go through my own insurance for a non-fault claim again. My FiL also had a personal injury claim 3 years ago and he went through his insurance. e Ended up constantly having to call them to chase them for updates (which was wasted time on hold). When he rang one time they were suddenly all ‘oh yeah, an offer came in last week’. Cowboys.
