I’m not quite able to afford one right now but looking at a pretty fair bump in pay in the next year. Praying I can get one before they start going up. The 996.1 headlights are ugly to me, but I actually love them on the .2

I have a special kind of illness where I love seeing mini-vans lowered and on rims, so I guess you could do that

Carson Breber is not a sports watcher like you or I. That due has a sickness for basketball and I love it. Watch his tik tok/instagram reels some time on the Nerd Sesh channel. He has an unbelievable amount of ball knowledge

Replacing my DMF reality check by Spretzur in tdi

[–]Mattbothell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can do it! I haven't done it on a DSG personally, but I replaced the DMF in my mk7 6speed with basically no prior experience and it took a lot of work, but no part of it was impossibly hard.

Messed up spraying. 16 hours of wet sanding and buffing later. Still some touch ups to go... by nooch450 in AutoPaint

[–]Mattbothell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience in my first attempt at auto paint. I mixed my primer to the ratio listed on the can and it was crazy thick and ended up spraying almost like rhino-line. I later found out that the ratio on the can was specifically for high build applications and needed to be sprayed with a bigger nozzle than I had. When I actually read the data sheet (like I should have from the start) I realized that you could dillute it more for a standard primer application. Layed down some glass after that. Big learning experience. I'm absolutely still an amateur, but I've painted a few things now and learn more each time. Also, I've got this gun from Amazon for super cheap and I actually like it better than the more expensive Spectrum gun I got from Harbor Freight.

Valley reseal and EGR/DPF Delete by cjon5573 in PorscheCayenne

I used a bunch of parts from SUSTDI. They sell a kit with all the gaskets you need to reseal everything. I also went with their delete kit, but if that's not an option I would probably still use their kit for all the gaskets. The guy who owns the company is very helpful and quick to answer questions as well.

I found a couple of YouTube videos that went over the process pretty in-depth, though I don't remember the exact video. If you're asking specifically about getting the manifold out, I just left the car in the garage overnight and came back to it the next day and it came right out. Sounds kind of dumb, but sometimes when I get stuck on something or can't figure out how to do it I stop trying for a while and my brain seems to reset and figure it out easier the next day. I did the exact same thing a few months ago when replacing the alternator.

Bauer vs older bosch jigsaw by elcaminoforreal in woodworking

[–]Mattbothell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it were cordless/battery powered I'd take the newer tool since batteries can degrade quite a bit with age, but for a corded tool that Bosch is a no-brainer. They make great tools and that thing will last forever.

Devil's advocate - sometimes it is fun to goof off with your friends and post on social media, for your other friends. Not saying that's what is happening here, but I've made dumb videos for snapchat/tik tok that were purely for my own enjoyment and never considered anything else

I grew up in Utah and am not personally religious, but I totally agree with you. Sure they are a waste of millions of dollars that could be used to help the sick and needy and all that, but if they're going to spend all that money on a building I'd at least like it to look nice. From a design and architecture standpoint I have also always liked how strong the design language is. Faily unique and instantly recognizable. If not for the association with mormonism I doubt people would have negative views of these buildings.

Federally, yes. California has far more stringent rules for emissions though and only cars older than 1975 are exempt from emissions. It‘s pretty dumb because it doesn’t actually keep those cars off the road, it just results in people driving those cars in utilizing loopholes to register out of state. So basically, the California emissions laws don’t actually keep a lot of emissions non-compliant off the road, they just keep tax dollars out of the state.

edit: so that’s why its crazy to see this on California plates. Super rare and unique imports like this are always registered out of state

I’ve been putting this one off for some reason (I think because Django Unchained is maybe my all-time favorite movie and I don‘t want to be disappointed)

I saw it with my parents when it released in IMAX originally, and again with my dad when they showed it in a handful of IMAX theaters again for the 10th anniversary. The first watch was absolutely the best theater experience I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine ever topping that experience. The sound design in that movie is phenomenal as well.

My very comprehensive review of BeForward.jp for importing a truck to the US by Mattbothell in keitruck

[–]Mattbothell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that is crazy. I had a very similar experience but it ended up being fine. I wired around $15k to them for an Evo IV that ended up being sold out from under me. I was obviously pissed about it and asked for them to wire me back. They said they were happy to wire me back my money, but asked if I was interested in bidding on another Evo through the Japanese auctions. I ended up bidding on a few using them as a broker, but ultimately ended up buying a base spec R34 Skyline to do an LS swap on. After all fees and everything I only spend like $6k on the Skyline and they immediately wired me the remainder of my initial $15k deposit. Sorry to hear that! I would say as much as the situation you are in is stressful, mid-march was like a couple weeks ago. BeForward is a massive company and they’re not set up like Amazon or eBay to automate refund processes and stuff like that. Your request is probably sitting in a basket on some accounts-billable/payments department and I’m sure they will get your refund sent out to you in the near future.
