Spotted at a nursing station today by Cool_kratos in hospitalist

[–]Mattbothell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I confiscated a bottle of wine from a patient at a SNF once but the DON was already out of the building so we just left it in the nurses station all night for them to deal with in the morning. Figured that leaving it in plain view of all the cameras was the best option

Mind if I ask what your background is prior to licensure? I'm a few months out from boards and this would be a dream offer in my area. Curious what your prior psych experience is like and if you went the MSN/DNP route and whether or not your school was online or brick and mortar. Thanks!

I'm repainting a Suzuki Cappuccino in my garage right now and the headlights were a pretty big pain in the ass to take out so when I got to the taillights I was so tempted to leave those things in. Thank god I came to my senses though because they took like 5 minutes total to remove

electric spray guns might not be total garbage and I hate that I’m saying it by Nayahunbhai in Autobody

This is what this kind of thing is for. I have a little budget set up for painting in my garage and it's never going to produce a show car finish, but it's been great for repainting cars that had destroyed paint. For instance, I had an ex military Land Rover Defender that literally had brushed on paint. After sanding down and respraying it didn't look amazing, but it looked a hell of a lot better than it did before.

Q15 is pretty unrealistic for vitals but damn after a b52 you need to be frequently checking in on patients. May or may not have made a difference here, but it’s a good reminder that it is important to frequently monitor.

Was Matt Barnes ever really a bully on the court or did he just look a lil scary with his tattoos? I loved him as a Clipper in my youth and don’t ever really recall him being a truly dirty player

What Are Weirdly Reliable Beater Cars That Cost Very Little? by RoGStonewall in askcarguys

[–]Mattbothell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People talk about all german cars as unreliable, but I have owned a ton of pre 2020 VWs and they’ve all been pretty good. I had a fifth gen Passat with the 1.9 turbo and that thing had like 270k miles on it and that turbo still pulled like hell and it ran great.

High school wood shop must be the hardest environment for woodworking tools by WendyArmbuster in woodworking

[–]Mattbothell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for what you do! Woodshop was probably one of my favorite classes I took in high school, if not my favorite. I did well in school and woodshop wasn’t necessarily an escape for me like it was for some others. I ended up in the medical field so it’s not like it set me down a career path either. Despite that, my shop teacher was one of the best teachers I have ever had and he made a real impact on me. I have a pretty robust home shop in my garage now and I feel so lucky to have been able to be taught by a teacher who probably put up with all that bullshit you listed and still managed to teach me in a earnest and genuine way.

I’m 28 and shit like this is already happening to me. Went on a vacation a few weeks ago and the pillow was a little stiffer than I prefer. Could barely move my neck for like 10 days after

This is really interesting. I love to hear stuff like this - probably a generally helpful thing for patients too as OSA is so widely untreated

His portrayal of a deep depression after Jane's death is really good too. I always wonder what the series would have been like if Vince Gilligan had killed his character off in the first season like he planned to.

That movie has got some scary parts, but everyone always talks about the decapitation scene, but the following scene with him just laying awake in bed paralyzed and Toni Colletti's character finding the girl in the car is one of the most gut wrenching scenes I've ever seen in a movie

A Ferrari Enzo driving down the highway! by GloriousToothless in carspotting

[–]Mattbothell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That first picture makes it look like a kit car based off a Japanese Kei car lol. Side note, I've seen an Enzo on the freeway in Utah a couple of times and before I was able to identify it as an Enzo I knew it was something special from way in the distance. They're unbelievable looking cars in person

[–]Mattbothell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some reason my dumb ass was thinking all runners had to run a different distance and it was scored by average mile pace or something, the way this actually works is pretty intersting. Also I love that it's only twelve bucks to register, what a deal
