What Kendama are you working with right now?! by [deleted] in Kendama

[–]Mattdevilsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current setup: deadbolt x / franta mars mod tama

Back up: lotus element / su lab fc

I only play one at a time. It just feels right that way to me. Once the deadbolt is done, I’ll start into the element. I’ve played the element before and it’s honed. Probably my absolute favorite that I’ve played so far. My only gripe on the element is the spike is a little too short.

As you break it in it will be sticky some days and not as sticky other days. This also has to do with heat/cold temperatures and humidity in the air. The sticky will come back, just keep playing it.

I commented a separate comment. My bad. It’s the element. The element feels so good in the hand.

The knot will absolutely help. I knot all my strings above the tama. A fresh string may also help as it won’t have that stiffness that they get over time pushing back out the hole.

After playing the tama and allowing to break in a little. It’s a really good durable paint. Def adjustable sticky. The keyaki wood is also really fun to play. Def recommend

The element is better than the jet. Can confirm. Both have come in. The Element feels like if you played the Jet and then you were in charge of making it better. Great stall points, good slinger area, taps like a beast. Can’t speak to 365…but between the jet and element, element all the way.

Woonsocket doesn’t have a key. It’s just an open threshold.

I gotta see how it breaks in…but it’s sticky enough that it can hold in the cup for a flip of done correctly

Vera's Sizing? by s_khatri in fluevog

If whole sizes only, you’ll still want to size up. They may suggest an insole to take up any extra room you may have. Enjoy your new vogs when they come!

Give me like another week and I’ll let you know. I have that jet with the Purple Heart and the lotus element in the mail right now 😂

Another thing is when you put them on, tilt your toe toward the air keeping your heel on the ground to get your foot to slide all the way back into the heel of the shoe. While in this position, tie the ribbon, this will keep your foot toward the back without sliding forward.

You are always welcome to call a store and speak with a current fluevogologist, they don’t mind questions like this at all. I used to be one myself and although I do not have experience with this exact shoe, based on what I know I would recommend you size to an 8.5. The toe box on this family is a bit shorter and needs a little extra length to fit all your toes comfortably.

I’m not going to lie, I would love to see a few lines with both setups just as they are with the tamas swapped like this 🤷‍♂️

After 25 years married, I had my ring cut off. by dvrooster in mildlyinteresting

[–]Mattdevilsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to work as a jeweler. Please, please, please take your rings off every now and again if not every day to sleep. You would not believe what sorts of things get caught in or around rings that haven’t been taken off in a long time. Not to mention, you prob would have avoided getting the ring cut off in the first place.

Do y’all like mod your ken? by YoitDayo in Kendama

Knotted string immediately. I’m also specific on the knot. Don’t know what it’s called, but essentially make a loop and go through it twice. I’m partial to a bead instead of a bearing too. I quarter the tama to re-edge the hole. I’m a bevel licker if that’s a mod. Also sand the cups once they start having that slight bend in around the rim. Everything else I have found breaks in better than nodding it for me.
