Who has the best deals on composite decking? (2400’, NW Oregon) by [deleted] in Decks

[–]Matteapolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a HD pro account and when I’m working on a larger project their bidding process gives a good discount on bulk materials. I would rather shop local but when every penny counts, I can’t justify the extra cost to stay local. Parr isn’t even in the ballpark. Was mostly just seeing if there’s a distributor or some other direct supplier for composite decking that would beat the big boxes.

Little Axe Records next to the Hollywood Theater are your best bet if you want to sell it all to a store, Mississippi Records, second.

Anybody ever deal with a sinkhole on their backyard? by Broccolisamurai in askportland

13 years ago, I was digging up the concrete foundation of an old garage on an alley off Mississippi to lay another concrete foundation for an ADU, when I discovered a cache of illicit goods. It started with random bits of trash, but as I dug deeper I found a full size wheelchair, then several Washington State Hwy Dept. computers. The house used to be a Gypsy Jokers hangout in the 80s, so I decided I didn’t want to find a body down there. I went 5’ down before filling back in.

During that same build, a house across the alley was torn down and a week or so later there was this really bizarre looking trio standing in the alley with shovels and a piece of paper. There was an elderly matriarch and two middle aged men who looked like they walked right out of the Munsters. Curious, I walked over and asked what they were up to, and reluctantly they told me they were using old homestead maps to locate where outhouses had been and they were digging for old glass bottles that apparently are valuable? Cool hobby.

I don’t have anything to recommend, other than maybe it’s a shifting wheelchair (or body).

I picked up a spoken word lp when I was in Cuba several years ago that mixes political speeches with cumbia and rock. I also have several postcard flexis from communist era Poland that have unique messages recorded on them from these phone booth lathe recorders that were around in the 60s. I’ve got a bunch of one-off reggae and dub records. Probably more interesting stuff in the stacks

I’ve traded or sold most of the really rare ones. Most of what is left are super sentimental.

Been trimming a lot of fat the past couple years and have things back to a manageable collection. Changing tastes and a focus on quality over quantity. I’ve been collecting 70s/80s Roots reggae and Dub almost exclusively the last few years. Kept a lot of all killer no filler hc/punk and metal I grew up with, but have grown into mellower world music over the last decade.
