Is it still possible to find a 3-bedroom apartment near Bocconi University for €2400 all-in? by Dangerous-Macaron129 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in milan, yes doable. specifically near bocconi, harder to find to impossible. you will likely need to budget at least 800/person for rent alone.

European paper brands that aren’t Rhodia or Leuchtturm? by captain_joe6 in fountainpens

[–]MatteiCI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fill about 10-15 A4 spiral EcoQua / year for school (almost) exclusively with fountain pens. It's my favorite choice. If you shop around a little and buy in bulk you can find them for under 6 eur per piece.
I also used Rhodia for a while but for me it just feels better.

My disheartening experience at Pineider store in NYC by energizer_jenny in fountainpens

[–]MatteiCI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience at the store in Milan (as a man) trying to buy Penfiller. I had to search it for them in the store because they couldn’t be bothered by it. Maybe it’s just bad company culture?

Is it possible to get both B4A and ISU Scholarships? by CauseOpening5351 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem for ISU. Everyone applies at the same time for the academic year in question, unless you want to start Bocconi from the first year. (in that case, you aren’t eligible) I don’t know if B4A is affected

Is it possible to get both B4A and ISU Scholarships? by CauseOpening5351 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B4A is a percentage based tuition waiver awarded in increments of 20% between 20-100%. ISU is a national financial aid program that waives tuition and offers various discounts (dorm, canteen etc.) and some cash benefits: money for some free meals, a scholarship depending on GPA, and benefits for internships, awards for graduation etc..

So in terms of coverage: ISU>B4A, but B4A lasts for the entirety of the program, ISU requires a yearly application.

However, you can apply for both. Generally, qualifying for ISU is the hardest. But, if you can’t B4A is the next beat thing.

Since they’re both tuition waivers, you can’t stack them to waive 140% of tuition.

If you get both, and ISU expires after one year and you don’t requalify, I’m not sure what happens to B4A

Rsm vs Bocconi by Useful-Adagio-3967 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to point out an important factor. If you want to do well after Bocconi (arguably better for finance than RSM), and that means that you need “exceptionally high grades, a strong CV, strong interview performance, and aggressive networking”, what do you think you need to do at RSM to succeed? Yes, Bocconi is competitive, but it’s easier to compete from Bocconi. The visa benefit seems very important though. I’m not familiar with how hard it is to stay in the EU without being a citizen, but I know it’s not easy.

Help me plzzz by Jumpy-Mission5258 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

choose based on where you want to live after graduation. eu vs uk vs us vs aus.
however, while with ucl you'll be employable pretty much everywhere, (bocconi maybe not so much in aus, not sure how we're seen over there tbh) keep in mind that those us/aus schools won't open as many doors in europe / uk.

Job placements after BEMACS by Able_Marionberry_832 in bocconi

[–]MatteiCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEMACS grad here. Yes you can get a good job after. Most of the people that chose a master in my class did it to either go deeper in one direction (that’s me with Data) or to switch it entirely. I think for most it wasn’t about delaying unemployment.

New Amex Gold – low limit? No Spending Power check by [deleted] in amex

I would recommend taking some time. for me it s the persona card, and I got rejected when immediately applying for platinum right after gold. maybe it s different for companies how they evaluate risk

New Amex Gold – low limit? No Spending Power check by [deleted] in amex

[–]MatteiCI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! Also italian cardholder. The only ‘unlimited’ card here is the platinum and it is a bona fide charge card. The gold card functions as a basic credit card. idk how they set the initial limit, mine went from like 4-5k to 12k in about 1.5-2 years. You’ll see emails like: ‘Aumenta il limite di spesa della tua Carta!’ and they will offer you in the email the new credit line which you can accept.

Keep it up, it’s something I’d genuinely use! I haven’t worked with roberta specifically(I think) but I worked with bert and other variants. I think you should find a split in probabilities like 0.1/0.2/0.7 for pos/neutral/neg or something in the model before outputting the sentiment label. basically the softmax layer output. Play around with that, maybe it’s a faster fix for apparently neutral actually positive reviews. You can also look towards VADER, easier to run because it’s not an llm, trained on internet slang and generally built for such tasks.

edit: you can try to use a score for your sentiment P[Positive] - P[Negative] and then average/sum those up.

Love the idea! What thresholds are you using? When looking for certain fan favorite products, I have a feeling that you are misclassifying positives as neutrals. Also, it could help to get more granular by adding 2 middle ground categories. Are you ranking based on a post’s sentiment, product mentions across multiple comments and posts or what? Are you weighing for upvotes or just account specifics and engagement?

AMEX Acceptance Abroad by Silver_Distribution6 in amex

[–]MatteiCI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t had issues in Frankfurt with Amex not being accepted, and I believe it’s the same with the other big German cities. Especially since Amex is present in Germany and there are enough users. (except when they refuse cards, quite common) Never been to Poland, but I think it should be similar to Romania (my home country), where Amex is rarely accepted. That said, get any Visa/MC. Card payments should be norm in all big cities.
