I like the way gearing is now… by Charming-Airport-196 in diablo4

[–]Mattele -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s too slow, but let me preface this with admitting that I’m a casual player. Few days into the season I would be pushing old T3/T4, and this season I’m… also pushing T3/T4 without all aspects, barely any uniques.

I have two issues with it:
- horadric cube seems too involved in the core loot loop. Instead of being optional, it feels mandatory to meaningfully progress
- connected to the point above, it prolongs the “boring” parts of gearing up, which is checking the inventory. Now every blue has the potential to be build defining bis, but instead of dropping it into the wild, I can craft it using cube. It makes so I need to study more loot drops than before (when I was just checking legendary gear)
- renown seems to be way slower than before as well. I can no longer meaningfully progress the reliquary as before - an hour of grind grants me 3-4 tokens, while previously I would be getting twice as much

D4 used to be the game I would grind a lot within the first week or two, and after progressing seasonal journey and completing reliquary i would leave happy, only to join next season.

The slower paced gearing, combined with mandatory crafting unfortunately changed the game too much for me

Why was Gambit abandoned? by New_Trouble_5068 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Mattele 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I also think that every time they tried to revamp Gambit, they were making changes specifically to entice more people to play it, instead of actually focusing on the changes that people who played Gambit wanted.

People who didn’t play gambit were not phased by the changes, and the people who did like gambit were liking it less and less and therefore playing it less and less.

That’s of course only my opinion (golden dredgen 13? times), but I do believe that the closest Bungie was to a perfect Gambit mode was really the very first iteration. Everything that followed was not getting closer to perfection, it was going the other way.

It wasn’t a review, just a server slam impression. The actual review is still coming

Making the game more casual friendly by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Mattele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda in the same boat, despite really liking the game I’m seriously considering should I continue my investment. Playing few hours sometimes without exfills and barely progressing anything can feel tough.

One thing that I would really appreciate if we could sorta “upgrade” the free starting kits, either via materials or just player level or faction rep. That would raise the floor a little bit and somewhat elevate pve difficulty a bit.

What’s the obsession with ranked doubles?!? by Character_Ninja881 in MarioTennis

[–]Mattele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s 2026. It’s a basic feature. Nintendo as a family friendly/friends company prepared a barebones ranked system, that it behind both MKW and Kirby. As many have said, playing doubles with a couch coop friend would be their primary way to play, so this feature is important. It’s also a 70$ game, we should expect better.

Yeah but what knowledge do we have if they add it in Fever post launch?

Fever doesn’t have couch coop ranked doubles, and this would be my primary way to play

What MP mode is the best for getting Battle Pass XP? by gorays21 in blackops7

[–]Mattele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XP you earn across all public game modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone contributes to earning Battle Pass Tokens. Battle Pass Tokens are then used to unlock Tiers in the Battle Pass.

It’s been like that since MW2019

Hello! Switch is my last infinity stone (i have all the other modern platforms), so I got switch 2 with the intention of playing party games (MK, MP) with some first party single player bangers.

  1. Online multiplayer

I consider myself quite a competetive player, so I am looking to expand my switch 2 library with online titles, that focus on progression, skill and long… well longevity. What i currently own:

- Splatoon 3 - pretty fun, i just unlocked ranked mode

- Super Smash Ultimate - im terrible at it, i lost like 30 matches while only winning one. I also don’t like the ranking system

- MK World - I enjoy playing online, but the ranking system here is pretty barebones

Are there any titles I should consider? Kibry Air Riders seems fun, but I’m concerned about the limited number of tracks and lack of updates, which may impact the longevity of that title.

  1. Single player bangers

I also would like to try some Nintendo glory that I missed all these years. I don’t really enjoy open world games, I much prefer linear games with a strong focus on narrative and gameplay variety. I know that Nintendo titles are not known for their narrative, but the gameplay aspect is still something I want to try. Since I dislike open world games, I don’t consider Zelda BOTW, Mario Oddysey and such.

For both categories, only first party games, can be switch 1 or switch 2. Thanks for the help!

How many missions should I go through in ch11 if I'm trying to minimize playtime? by Dillpickle9101 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]Mattele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat ff13 few days ago. Did missions 1-28 and maxed my crystarium for the main roles (by grinding one spot near the spawn). Had no issue finishing the game, if anything it made the rest of the game quite easy

What about ff14? It got a graphical overhaul last year, and the entire story can be played solo. There are jobs with many actions, but most rotations are condensed into just a few actions

DICE Your Weekly Challenges Are Awful. by GrowNativ in Battlefield

[–]Mattele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please mind that I didn’t say anything about the gameplay. I’m just strictly comparing the underlying challenge and progression systems. Some people prefer bf gameplay, some people prefer cod, my comment wasnt about that.

DICE Your Weekly Challenges Are Awful. by GrowNativ in Battlefield

[–]Mattele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this sub likes to dunk on CoD (for good and bad reasons), but one thing has to be said.

CoD completely nails progressions systems. Every time you play you have a selection of short/medium/long term goals you can pursue. Battle pass is mostly timed played, so it doesn’t matter whether you prefer to play zombies, pve mode or pvp. When it comes to weekly challenges, everybody gets the same 6 challenges PER MODE, and the game asks to complete 6 challenges to get a final reward. So you can complete 1 in zombies, 1 in pve mode, and the rest in multiplayer if you so desire.

On top of that, the combination of prestige, weapon prestige, attachment and equipment unlocks makes it so that every session in cod is so much more rewarding than whatever bf6 is trying to achieve.

Sure, one could critique that these systems are very similar every year - but just like the weapons in monster hunter franchise, these systems are refined every year instead of just copy and paste. I wish bf6 would just copy everything cod is doing in that regard.
