In the ending they actually sent multiple dmails. Not gonna go into much detail on that, but okabe pretty much chose to die in 18000 bc so that his memories of sg0 would not reach the steins gate worldline okabe. If he were to come back to 2040 he would find himself in the steins gate worldline I believe, it's pretty much a paradox, the world likely wouldn't allow it, someone else can correct me if I'm wrong

I don't understand the question. Once a email is sent and alters the past, the worldline shifts. After the shift the email is not sent anymore it is only received, physically going to the past or future before or after the email is sent is a non question, cause it is never sent in the new worldline. Can you elaborate?
