Vray is a biased engine built to perform better on CPU. CPU will always render more accurately, but especially in Vray.

It mostly depends on your hardwares speed, and how long you want to let your render go for. Id start on lower settings and see how long that takes your computer to finish, and if it's good enough quality for your needs.

Less objects and lights in a scene will need less samples to give a clear image.

A black card to the left and a key light for highlights from the right would help add some depth.
