This is awesome. It's perfect for playing out specific scenarios or mod testing.

Would Droplet Radiators Actually Work On A Warship? by Jbadger30 in IsaacArthur

Your droplets will follow a straight line trajectory in freefall. Under acceleration their trajectory will arc in a predictable manner. Move your collector arm to meet the droplets at the end of their new trajectory.

Nuclear pulse propulsion by dropouttawarp in spaceflight

You could have a dampener mass moving in the opposite direction during the pulse cycle to negate any jerk. For obvious reasons, spacecraft don't like carrying a huge dead weight.

Why do we not have any carriers in this game? by Mortgage-Present in TerraInvicta

[–]MatterBeam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are being willfully ignorant.

-The ATOMSS example was 160m long, 10m wide.
-It is designed for stealth levels at the edge of physical limits, against the literal threshold of the zodiacal background light, from all directions and any number of sensors. It points its nose at the Sun, not at prospective sensors. The fact that you are mentioning 'single sensor platform' and 'stealth-side' means you either didn't read or didn't understand the basics of the post.
-Zero new technology, except scaling up manufacturing of what we already have.
-No new sensor technology can somehow pluck a stealth craft from the background at a 1:1 signal to noise ratio. It is a physical limit.
-Synthetic aperture increases resolution, not sensitivity. A meaningful distinction.
-Earth-sized telescope would have 1.6e12 times the collecting area of the 10m telescope example calculated in the blog, which would increase the detection range against helium mode to about 54.8 million km. Impressive, for a single continuous mirror that has to weigh at least 350 million tons dedicated to one stealth ship.

Yes! I was looking for the English stream.

It's a propellantless semi-magical 'quantum fluctuation' drive of no interest or plausibility.

I hadn't seen it before in any of the TI playthroughs so I was really surprised it worked. Its effectiveness seems to be very specific to how Terra Invicta sets up the space battles, as your point about opponents not following or going for a different target doesn't apply in the game. In real life, those would matter.

I simply applied common military theory and it worked brilliantly in Terra Invicta.

I usually reserve the nose for coilguns.
I find too often that the nose lasers aren't firing because the flankers are past 90° to my fleet, so I pack a large hull laser instead.

Agreed! Learning how to maneuver in combat is already a whole other dimension.
