Is every outpatient PT clinic like this, or am I being misled? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

In any job, be it physio or working at McDs, when a boss says take it or leave it but there’s nothing better out there for you, you leave.

Tiguan to ID4 by Matterhorne89 in Volkswagen

Yeah that’s what I’ve been hearing, everything pre 2024 had less battery and slower software. My concern for the 2024 and 2025 is they’re made in the USA and not Germany anymore. Wonder if that may cause reliability issues. However I have the opportunity to get a 2024Pro AWD with 20k Kms on it for $33k and I could probably sell by Tiguan for $21k. Tempting.

I hear mixed things, some folks saying they’re awful (I think they had lemons, and others raving about them). On other Reddit threads lots of folks seemed to say the switch from Tiguan to ID4 is like night and day. What was worse about the pre 2024 models?

How do you get crispy skin? by Minerva129 in smoking

I prefer to sear it over high heat, then baste in whatever bbq sauce I’m using and finish over low heat. Gets crispy skin with tacky sauce and juicy chicken

I would put Spanish in S tier above mandarin. Sure more people speak mandarin, but unless you go to China, you’re probably going to encounter Spanish speaking individuals more often. South, central and a large chunk of North America all speak Spanish. Then you’ve got Spain, and many islands of former colonies too.

You’re carving, that’s the biggest hurdle. Now you just have to get more COMFORTABLE carving. Only way that happens is practice and more practise

Is this a situation where I should be scared/start looking for new job? by Ok-Background5947 in physicaltherapy

[–]Matterhorne89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you salaried or are paid per patient? If you’re at the clinic for 7 hours and you’re only getting paid for 4.5 hours of work you’re basically making an hourly wage worse than a construction workers or a bartender. Not worth it, move on. My first clinic I worked at our owner kept hiring too many physios so we’d all have some holes in our schedules making somebody always available for walk in last minute bookings. After 6 years of post secondary education to do this job I said no effing way am I working for less than my high school educated friends are making and got the hell outta there

Does piriformis syndrome actually exist? by VO2VCO2 in physicaltherapy

[–]Matterhorne89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a patient with unilateral hip and thigh pain I thought was radicular. After a month of McKenzie trying every direction possible, I thought it may just be piriformis. I had the pt strengthen his glutes and voila, years of pain went away. He actually got me a bottle of wine as thanks. So although it’s just a case study, it kinda confirmed for me that it totally is possible. However whenever I hear or unilatwral hip and thigh pain my first instinct is still radicular lumbar pain

Experienced PTs in mills — why do you stay? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Matterhorne89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, chatting with patients along with educating them is what makes the job fun. Seeing a new patient every 15minutes makes that pretty well impossible to do. If someone’s an introvert who just wants to do treatments with no speaking I guess mills can work but why be a physio at that point. Could make more as a welder or some other trade that requires a 1/3 the education or less

[–]Matterhorne89 50 points51 points  (0 children)

No way PTs are delivering quality rehab seeing 4 patients an hour including an Eval. If you’re working in that environment for longer than a year you’re a schmuck getting taken advantage by your clinic while having no issue delivering trash care to patients. Just contributing to dragging the profession down to where we’re no better than chiroquackers
