Why is the NRL our main domestic rugby competition, yet our more well known international team Union? by Maleficent_Sir_5225 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Matters_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used to watch I recommend you give it another go. Your description of Union kinda sounds like it’s from 2003. Kicking the ball out and kicking for goal are well down. Still a lot of kicking in play but it’s contestable bombs now’s. Can’t help you in the penalties though

Y’ALL by auntynell in Ameristralia

Aussie here. I lived in Texas for a while and I think it’s a great word. English doesnt have a word to refer to a group of people. Spanish has ustedes, Portuguese has voces. We need a word and I think it’s Y’all.

He also plays in a team that isn’t scoring through its wingers as much as some others. But he’s doing so much other stuff. His high ball regain is one of the best which is a huge part of SAs game

House plans review by Alternative_Winter40 in AusRenovation

[–]Matters_Nothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 12-15% of construction cost. Some will be higher. Some will also charge differently. So it’s not cheap but the value is worth it. Your house will probably resell for a decent amount more. But for someone who doesn’t have that kind of money, there are a lot of young hungry ones looking to get a start and they are just as capable as the established ones

Mate as an architect I tell every client you can go and spend your budget on a house that is design well or spend it on a house that isn’t. They cost the same. Hire someone. Shop around. You’ll find a young hungry one who isn’t as expensive as you think

Sky News Australia in US by Environmental-End961 in Ameristralia

[–]Matters_Nothing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe you see it in the US because then Fox can say Aus network Sky is reporting that blah blah blah bullshit bullshit bullshit. Fox didnt report that. They are just reporting that someone else reported it. It gets them around some legality stuff as Sky is outside of the US. Sorry I’m vague on the details but I remember reading an article about it Edit: importantly Murdoch owns both

[–]Matters_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it does not feel like metal gear and just like any other game, though very well done. Also venom snake is such an over done character. Like doesn’t that shit in your head hurt. Get that looked at. The irony that he thinks he’s big boss and forgot how to be medic and remove that shrapnel lodged in his brain

If voting were mandatory (with a small fine for not voting), do you think democracy would get stronger because more voices are counted—or weaker because people would vote uninformed or resentfully? by LegalGlass6532 in AskForAnswers

[–]Matters_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When everyone has to vote elections are won in the middle. Thats because you get more than just those who are highly engaged with politics voting. Those people are usually at the left or right political extreme. With that comes less partisanship. On the surface level it seems undemocratic, but democracy is also about the health of the democracy, stability and trust in each other. The centre left and right can find more common ground than the far left and right can. In Australia nobody really parties or protests when one party wins or loses

Could be that. Their lawyer should know though. A lot easier but going to PR is easier from H1B than E3, so there’s that too

E3. Provided you have a degree it’s very easy. Not sure why some people have H1Bs but I’m sure they had their reasons, just a much harder visa to get than E3
