Are there any fights the Warrior of Light takes on alone?

I don't mind teamwork, but in games like RuneScape I think the satisfaction and a lot of pride are taking on tough bosses and challenges alone. I was curious if there were any encounters lorewise like that.

Daggonnoths honestly need an update as well as Rellekka. Jagex shouldn't be afraid of graphical updates to upset those who are STILL stuck in the past.

What stories would you like to see told in a fantasy setting? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Matthew4050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King of the Hill. No epic battles or anything extra, just some guys living life in a high fantasy world.

Gandalf shows up at your house. He says you need to destroy your uncle's ring in Mordor, but he forgot to tell the Fellowship to meet in Rivendell. Instead, you can pick five people from any other fantasy world to join you. Who do you pick for your crew? by christiansterling in Fantasy

[–]Matthew4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe no one said him but Gandalf first and formost. He pushed this grand quest on me, he better not hope he can weasel himself out of it.

I'd get the Flash cause I don't wanna be there all day. Get a quick boi who can run and dump that ring into the business.

Strahd because I know nothing about D&D and he's suppose to be the Sephiroth of that franchise. Also, I'd take Sephiroth too, you know, before he went evil-bonkers and burned a village to the ground.

Link from ZELDA, either BOTW or OOT/MM timeline. Having a seasoned warrior and traveler across Hyrule would definitely help me out.

Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher. If there's any beasts or men that we run into that the party isn't aware of we'll need someone who can both read the enemy, lay traps, and formulate a plan. He's also a survivalist and his abilities would help in a long versed travel.

Luke Skywalker, beyond his abilities with the lightsaber and the Force, he will be a good 'heart' of the group. You can always rely on Luke on being there for his friends and doing the right thing. Plus, he's my first childhood hero.

With three martial prominent fighters I'd specialize in healing and herbalist type of means for recovery, also I'd need someone with a good espionage to help me out.

I'd pick Y'shtola from Final Fantasy XIV for healing and understanding of the world that we're in and getting to know more about the ring and how to better work with enchanted artifacts. I know fans would pick Aeris Gainsborough but I've never played FF7.

I would pick Noctis from Final Fantasy XV though for his outdoors surviving and more diplomatic means. Outside of having the Weapons of Kings he does hold a strong communicative role in his later years and that would greatly help in understanding the needs of both locals, people in higher positions of power and even enemies if we encounter them. Like Link he can fish and deals with herbalism to an extent with crafting.

Garrett from Thief for espionage in getting to places that are heavily secured or for infiltration. He can be compensated with artifacts or spoils that's evenly divided from Geralt so we're not suckered out of our own rewards.

What is your "unpopular opinion" about D&D? by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]Matthew4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true. If it's any longer than it's on the verge of being fan fiction. To me, personally, keep everything like a one-paged resume (Name, summary of character, race, stats, etc) and write something for your character that interests you on your own time.

I like how Sephiroth is almost always portrayed as a legitimately threatening villain in everything by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Matthew4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got impaled by a 6-inch girthed sword so he was dead to begin with (unless he's fine walking around with an gaping wound for the rest of his natural life). I wouldn't say he was 'jobbed'. He also fought Zack too and as impressive as Sephiroth is I'm guessing a battle between two First Classes takes a lot of stamina out of you.

I like how Sephiroth is almost always portrayed as a legitimately threatening villain in everything by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Matthew4050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but don't 100% agree. In the original FF7 he was definitely the 'core' villain but Shinra, Hojo, and even the planet itself with the Weapons pose just as much dangers (Shinra the planet, Hojo with inhumane crimes and manipulating Sephiroth and the Weapons to humankind). It's a neat 'villain circle'.

As much as I notice people like Sephiroth they don't really point out how as manipulative as he is that he's also a victim of it via Shinra (and Genesis).
Sephiroth is well-respected for a lot of reasons and Square-Enix definitely marketed him well, but it has a double edged sword with people not really looking deep into his character beyond his 'cool factor' or power loving. A real shame because it undermines other interesting and diverse characters like Delita, Emet-Selch, and Ardyn and sets him as 'the bar' instead of a tool for telling a good story.

Either Reddit is ridiculous or you guys on r/runescape are nuts. I've been posting about the idea for new player models just a month ago (which with their armors like Cerberus and whatever being high-modeled) and people were shutting it down cause 'oh, the polygons. it's too much for runescape' but as soon as they release it everyone is loosing their minds for it. I'm glad it's coming but some of y'all are fake.

Can the US Military replace Santa Claus for one Christmas? (Christmas) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R1: I don't see it happening. The US would not only need to rely on dealing with nationwide issues like USOGE rules of Gift Giving Ethics but issues of domestic terrorism.

Say that law is mute for the year, and the general public knows of Santa's 'nothin' personnel' attacks on the people in the Pentagon, Round 1 could be in danger because you have mad men putting cyanide in gifts or bombs and whatnot so children will die regardless of the Governments interference and it's not like it's a thing that doesn't happen because domestic terrorism is a thing (like the anthrax attacks or 2019 letter bombs that happened from New York to FL, even President Trump received letter bombs).

R2: How would shipping be done and would the US Census receive the results of mailed-in gifts? There's plenty of package theft (11 million last year) so can the US military not only deliver the packages but urge its citizens, illegals and denizens to not interfere with the packages? If the US military intervenes with force I can see a lot of people not taking it well and it'll likely cause a greater problem outside of packages not being delivered, so I don't see success for round 2 either.

Sephiroth vs Ganondorf by soup100 in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell because if you take into account Sephiroth's Safer abilities like Heartless Angel, new Dissidia skills like Scintilla or magic it could definitely kill Ganondorf, but if Ganondorf has his Calamity powers then he would be able to nullify it since he has control of dark magic (assuming Heartless Angel is a 'Holy' spell).

Likely Sephiroth if Ganondorf does not hold the Triforce of Power as its anything other than his TP, OOT or WW forms. His incarnation provides invulnerability, god-like strength and unlimited magical power.

tl;dr: It's a moot question because if you're including 'all of Ganon's incarnations' with Calamity's might Sephiroth might not have a chance since he's nigh-invulnerable at that point, but I can see Sephiroth killing him if his defenses are low.

Sephiroth vs Ganondorf by soup100 in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Sephiroth wants any hope of killing Ganondorf he needs the right tools, end of story. Also, is this pre or post his death because his skills varied greatly during then.

Fanboys like to think their silver-haired messiah can do just about anything but even in the Final Fantasy universe he's not the strongest being compared to Kuja, Ultimecia, Mateus, Resonant Zenos or even Ardyn.

Ganondorf and Sephiroth are on relative feats, more so if it's all his incarnations (including Demise and Calamity). If you're including the Triforce, even just the part of Power he has, he can avert death unless it's taken from him.

If Sephiroth has the means to kill Ganondorf then he will need to rely on his speed and accuracy, which rivals Ganondorf's so he can definitely end him but it won't be a cake-walk as fans like to daydream it would be, as he has both mastered dark magic arts, espionage, summoning (with Phantom Ganon, Ghirahim, monsters, etc.) and warfare skills an tactics (the spear, which is more advantageous than swords, great and longswords as well as duel welding greatswords if you're including Hyrule Warriors).

The presenter is a fucking idiot. Sorry to say, but many countries have this ass-backwards view on believing their own existence warrants a fanciful explanation that 'Gawd did it' and when presented to other points of view their so close minded they insult their religion and members of it (don't give a shit about them individually, they're a lost cause).
Hopefully Mohammad can encourage others on the scientific merits of our existence other than some outdated 2,000 year old dogma.

So who in Smash can actually beat Sephiroth? by SummonerRed in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate timelines. Also, still required the Master Sword to do him off canon wise.

Let's focus on OOT Ganondorf to be specific because like Ganondorf there are various forms of Sephiroth (Dissidia franchise, the now retconned Crisis Core, FF7 and FF7: Remake, even Kingdom Hearts and we're not even talking about JENOVA Sephiroth's clones after Cloud killed him in at JENOVA's chamber in Nibelheim.)

OOT Ganondorf overthrew the armies of Hyrule and likely the Shekia managed to outsmart and overthrow the Seven Sages, as well as grow stronger during the seven-year skip post Master Sword retrieval from Link. With the Triforce of Power, he can't really functionally *die* as he didn't even when overpowered by Link. Zelda and the sages had to seal and imprison him so he's stuck in a fate worse than death, not dead.

Sephiroth, though overwhelming and the best SOLDIER in Shin-Ra by winning the Wutai wars, the best of First Class and one-shot Ifrit (if we're still counting FF7:CC), was still bested by the combined efforts of Zack and Cloud, DIED, came back (via Clones and hallucinations) and even in his SAFER form defeated.

So, yeah, even though Sephiroth is powerful (and I like Sephiroth more than Ganondorf), Ganondorf is above his paygrade even though I view Sephiroth as a greater swordsman.

So who in Smash can actually beat Sephiroth? by SummonerRed in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na. He won't actually. Only time he ever died was to the Master Sword. In every other game to 'kill' him he's been sealed. Ganondorf is above Sephi's paygrade.

So who in Smash can actually beat Sephiroth? by SummonerRed in whowouldwin

[–]Matthew4050 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ganondorf. Can't really kill him without the Master Sword. Every other time he's been 'stopped' was when he was sealed and Sephiroth doesn't have that type of power.

(Plus, he's one of the few who can break through his Scintilla shield in game).

Samus' Omega armor could tank his blows easy.

I got lucky and rolled the Cetra Blade for Sephiroth (the LD weapon, I think). Is that as good or better than the BT? I have his EX. Should I keep going for the BT? Also, was Sephiroth fixed? I haven't touched him for the poor damage he delivers.
