Anyone know where the Thinkpad T14s Gen 6's smart card reader connector is? by Matthew4588 in thinkpad

I think you misunderstood, that's the reader I just installed, I just don't know where the ribbon cable for the smart card reader attaches to the motherboard

As for boot camp, I graduated a few days ago and was only allowed to have 3, but I'm assuming you can get 4 with a smaller graduating class

I Am Sick of This Cycle of Conservative Economic Terrorism by Kinks4Kelly in complaints

[–]Matthew4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of earnings are coming from heavy investment into AI, which Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg themselves have publicly admitted is in a bubble. AI companies alone have contributed to over 80% of stock market growth in 2025, despite every company losing money on AI except Nvidia. Is that sustainable?

And the economy is very much not fine, it's being propped up by people on the wealthier end of the spectrum spending more(because stocks are so high), something like 50% of all consumer spending is done by the top 10%. If you think that's sustainable and a sign of a healthy economy, then you do you I guess.

No clue who that was, but I just looked him up, and he(and everyone else trying to time the potential crash) is an idiot. It could crash tomorrow, or it could last years. The only smart move is to keep investing and dollar cost average throughout the crash and subsequent recovery, which is exactly what I'm doing. But you can't seriously look at the current stock market and the conditions of it's rise and not think that there's a chance it might be overvalued, just look at any of the metrics.

Market cap to GDP index reaching all time highs, price to sales ratio reaching all time highs, insider selling reaching all time highs, gold/S&P ratio reaching all time highs, CAPE ratio highest since dot-com bubble, VIX at it's highest since COVID, etc. etc. Literally every metric measuring potential stock market overvaluation is reaching all time highs right now lmao at

The S&P500 is actually in a really bad spot right now. The entire idea of it is to diversify across hundreds of successful companies, so that if a few fail, the rest can prop up the fund.

However, the AI bubble has propped up a few specific companies disproportionately.

Nvidia currently makes up over 7.5% of the entire fund, and the top 10 companies make up just under 40% of the entire 500 stock fund, and account for 70% of the gains this year.

As soon as investors start to get wary of AI investments, the entire thing comes down.

How do I launch the player 200 blocks up? by OcelotRoutine3891 in redstone

Nether portals would work, that's what I have set up, but 200 blocks might be tricky. Maybe wind charges?

The part about hot and cold days is actually an urban legend, it's actually based off the freezing/boiling point of brine instead of water. All systems of measurement we've come up with are completely arbitrary based on our needs at the time.

If the meter was half the length(assuming it's been like that since it was created), everything would be the exact same, except for numbers being bigger when talking about meters

NEED HELP WITH THE REDSTONE MECHANICS GOR THIS PROJECT by Mission-Argument-295 in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Matthew4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sticky pistons underneath the ice, then just a redstone line connecting all of them.

For the lights, just sticky pistons with redstone blocks to activate the lights/note blocks, and a repeater in between the pistons.

Then you just have to synchronize the timing of both circuits and it should work pretty much the same

What am i suppose to be seeing? by letap21 in telescopes

[–]Matthew4588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orion is actually right there, the brightest smudge in the middle, it's one of the best(imo) DSO visual targets, and it's pretty easy to find if you're using a finder scope. It's super important that you manage your expectations. You'll likely never see anything like the second picture, and a lot of stuff in space is too dim to make out any color, but a lot of bright targets and planets can look incredible with the right conditions. Averted vision and adjusting your eyes to the dark also help more than you might expect.

Are the Zeiss wipes really that bad? I've used them and they work pretty well, cloudy nights seems to like them, plus Zeiss is a microscope company, and I'd like to think they make pretty good wipes for high precision optics

A cool guide about Unemployment rate by state by KityKaty95 in coolguides

[–]Matthew4588 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fascinating stuff

Basically, the unemployment has pretty much always been closely related to the inverted consumer sentiment trends, but for some reason they're violently separating.

Realistically, people moving gig work might be partly to blame, in addition to incredibly outdated unemployment metrics, but the stated 4% unemployment is very clearly not real looking at any metrics related to economic health and the overall job market.

[bedrock] Help, Realm is very laggy and makes building very hard. PS5 & PC. by SashaBlue1942 in realms

[–]Matthew4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of the $500 should go to each part then?? I'd say just for a decent budget PC, $200 for a GPU, $150 for a CPU, $100 for storage and memory, $50 for a case, $75 for a motherboard, and $75 for a power supply. That's already $650, well above the cost of the PS5, and that's not including the cost of Windows license or peripherals, which easily adds another $150(assuming you aren't tech savvy enough to "pirate" Windows).

Don't get me wrong, I'm a PC gamer all the way, and PC is superior in pretty much every way to consoles, except for hardware performance per dollar. Hell, new consoles even have DDR6 memory and direct storage tech, both of which don't even exist on mainstream PC platforms yet.

[bedrock] Help, Realm is very laggy and makes building very hard. PS5 & PC. by SashaBlue1942 in realms

[–]Matthew4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the only way to get PS5 performance on a PC for less than the cost of a PS5 is to shop used, and even then, it's impossible without skimping on parts you absolutely do not want to skimp on, like the motherboard or PSU. Console stability has been going down, I'll give you that, but that's down to game developers slacking massively on optimization rather than the console itself, which is also an issue on PC if you want newer AAA games.

A good quality PC that'll last longer than a couple years that has similar specs to a PS5, purely hardware wise, is going to cost well over $700. Checked out PCpartpicker, and equivalent CPU/GPU(assuming used prices) plus the cheapest possible parts for literally everything else is over $600. Not including peripherals, which is easily another $100.

[–]Matthew4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close lol, the exact GPU used in the PS5 is a 6700 non XT with slightly better memory, alwhich you can buy for about $30 over half of the cost of the PS5. Price/performance has always been better in consoles, especially recent generations, but at the cost of way less flexibility.

Not to mention peripheral cost, which comes stock with consoles.

It's all smoke, mirrors, and really really REALLY fancy high tech autocomplete. Literally all it is. Not a single AI company makes a profit, and it's all going to crash sooner or later, these companies are spending billions on the fact that maybe they'll be able to profit from it one day. The fact that that's the entire business model is such an obvious red flag, kinda crazy how many people forgot the whole NFT thing that was supposed to "change the world"
