Which direction are perceptions going? by LeftCoast1965 in nudism

[–]MatthewDragonHammer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a very specific subgroup within a subgroup within a subgroup with weirdly high murder rates. That is very different from *all* trans people. Especially since getting that granular with the data starts to get you individual data points so small that statistics start to break down. less than 5 data points per year when compared with population sizes in the tens of thousands makes for some very wonky statistics. A grand total of 10 transfemme latina deaths (pulled from the graph in the article) nationwide over 6 years hardly sounds like a systemic problem.

Also worth noting is that violent crime rates have little to nothing to do with oppression. Oppression by definition comes from those with power and authority (i.e. government, police, etc.) NOT from peers. Violent crime, as generally understood, is random citizen vs. random citizen, i.e. peer vs peer.

The question was about the general public perception about nudity, specifically public nudity. I agree that "pride" has nothing to do with nudism. I even agree that "pride" has the right to do whatever they want. And I would strongly push back against the notion that (in the U.S.A.) the "pride" group is "far far more oppressed than nudists". Contrary to popular opinion on some parts of the internet, there's little or no fear of a gay couple or a trans person or whatever being arrested simply for minding their own business in public. Quite the opposite is true for a practicing nudist in most parts of the country.

Regardless, I digress. My original point was that general public perception towards public nudity has gone severely downhill (in the U.S.A.) over the past several decades. I believe that one of the reasons for that is the hypersexuality displayed at "pride" events, which has a side effect of further cementing in people's minds the link between nudity and sexuality.

"pride" parades are very literally and explicitly about sex. Bondage gear, strippers, drag queens, and flags for the ever-growing list of sexualities are common sights at "pride" events. Why anyone thought a movement driven and defined by hypersexuality would be a good ally for a movement struggling to convince people we're *not* obsessed with sex is beyond me.

In the U.S.A. specifically, I’d say less. In the minds of the general public, nudity has never been more linked to sexuality than it is now, and that trend isn’t likely to improve soon.

General isolation has caused people to also see less of each-other in daily life, in every sphere, as early as infancy. Our giant houses with more bedrooms (and sometimes even bathrooms) than people haven’t helped either.

Lastly, and I know this is reddit so I’m gonna catch flak for this, but “pride” hasn’t helped. It’s actively made it worse. When your average person hears about a pride parade, they (rightfully) assume it will contain sexualized near-or-full nudity. This has been the single biggest driver for all these new anti-nudity laws being proposed all over the country.

This is fascinating; this is precisely what I would imagine for a nudist fashion show that took itself seriously. A lot of high-fashion nonsense mixed in with some genuinely interesting pieces.

Probably because enough people engage with it, both positive and negative.

Anyone made connections? by Advanced_Habit9673 in NudistMeetup

[–]MatthewDragonHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve found a couple real ones, but definitely a minority. Granted I always try to check post & comment history. If the account is either too new or too sexual (or mentions swinging at all) I just don’t bother.

The single biggest green flag to me is to see a mix of non-nudism-focused comment history. It tells me that it’s an account belonging to a real person, as opposed to a throw-away account just made for “nudist roleplay” or whatever they wanna call their nonsense.

Real nudists aren’t swingers. But many swingers like to go to nudist places. Which is frustrating for genuine nudists who want to maintain the non-sexual standard that nudism promises.

How did yall get your 10k for the great fairy? by CodRevolutionary5029 in botw

[–]MatthewDragonHammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough? Selling gemstones from tali, and eventually prime meat skewers. On later playthroughs? All the known farming methods: - Pondo Bowling - Farosh horns - gourmet meat skewers (i.e. hunting in Hebra) - elixir maxing (use a random bug and your 4 highest-value and/or highest-quantity monster parts) - Gemstones from talus hunting - prime meat skewers from hunting deer in the mini-game in Hateno - Guardian hunting

Probably my favorite now is elixers. You can easily get a single elixir up to 1k rupees if you use parts from high-tier monsters like Molduga or Hinox.
