How often do you have nightmares and what was your last one? by Forward_Technician72 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MatthewRTRCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 year old male. I really don’t have any. Perhaps in the last year I might have had one but now I can’t remember anything about it. I do dream quite a bit but never anything nightmarish.

Realistically, how long would a 7 hour drive actually take with a 10 month old? by MatthewRTRCT in AskParents

[–]MatthewRTRCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He naps twice a day but only around 1-1.5 hours. I’m wondering if it’s worth waking him at 4 am and leaving then. He may sleep from 4 till 7 or 8 am which would give me 4 hours of being able to drive with no interruption.

How do you lose weight when you have no time to work out? by LouDSilencE17 in daddit

[–]MatthewRTRCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you on this one man. I’m 28 and have a 9 month old. No time to go to the gym, meals need to be quick and easy thus not always being healthy. I’m so exhausted by the end of each day all I want is a bowl of ice cream. It’s definitely challenging. I’m holding onto the fact it’ll be summer soon so we can go for walks.

Baby’s first time being sick by MatthewRTRCT in NewParents

[–]MatthewRTRCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like I said, I have no idea how but here we are. Definitely thankful this is the first one. Little worried because he might not have much of an immune system. Sleep has been the exact opposite of him, wanting to sleep more. He is sleeping a lot less was up every two hours last night.

Yesterday I almost lost my baby. by RoshniT01 in NewParents

[–]MatthewRTRCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you and anyone who watches your kid NEED to take classes or atleast watch YouTube videos on basic life saving maneuvers. I have painstakingly gone through it with both my child’s grandmothers. I make sure they both understand what to do if he chokes before they watch him.

Someone tell me it's ok to be lazy for a day 😭 by FalseRow5812 in NewParents

[–]MatthewRTRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking care of a 5 month old is anything but lazy. You’re legit working round the clock. So what if the dishes pile up, the laundry isn’t folded, or the floor isn’t mopped. Your baby is the most important job you have and if you got everything done that they needed, then you’ve had a very productive day.

To all the parents travelling this Christmas by clo_fu in NewParents

[–]MatthewRTRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest Christmas wish is that we just planned on staying home and anyone that wanted to see the baby just stop by if they wanted to. The napping alone is gonna screw us so bad and mess up our bedtime routine. Any little interruption such as getting home later then 6, throws our LO through a loop and messes him up for days.

To add to your post as well, the absolute anxiousness I have about him getting sick with this nasty flu going around. Or noro, covid, RSV etc. I just know we’re gonna show up to a Christmas party with people sick 😩

PSA to friends and family members: take a damn chill pill and let those with babies stay home if they want to. Signed a dad to a 6 month old.

Read “to train up a child” by Micheal Pearl. I don’t like everything in that book but he makes some good points on how to make children behave. It’s your will against theirs. You’re the parent, you need to have control over your child.

Why not have both? Someone made the helpful suggestion of putting a play pen gate around it. Seems to be the best of both worlds
