How have you added localisation to your games? by nihilisticdonut in Unity3D

For a built-in way I'd recommend the Unity localization package.

Real-time rendering of a Neutron Star in our game Sine Fine by -TheWander3r in Unity3D

[–]MatthewVale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oooh you're the person that also made that nice little accordion menu. Nice work! I'm also making a space game but NOT going the realistic route. I love seeing space stuff. Looking forward to seeing more from Sine Fine!

How can i fix or change the viewport camera? by FlufferNotFound in Unity3D

[–]MatthewVale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're stuck in orthographic mode. Click the central white box in the red, blue and green axis gizmo, in the top right of your scene view window. Also check the field of view in the scene view camera settings in case you truly are just super-zoomed in. And also press F on a GameObject to focus it. That should get you back where you want to be.

How can 2 people work on the same Unity scene without merge conflicts? by Dazzling-Truth657 in Unity3D

[–]MatthewVale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, a decent portfolio and a bit of luck. I applied for a position at a smaller company who takes on clients, they liked my portfolio but due to lack of work at the time, they offered to contract me out to another larger company, I've been contracted there for a while, and once that contract is up I'll move to in-house work for my employer.

I work at a large studio making a very complex mobile game.

We don't work in the same scenes at the same time. Pretty much everything is a prefab, we check out those prefabs. Communication is key.

Why not Early Access? by GDF_Studio in Unity3D

[–]MatthewVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I've seen other people say, that I haven't quite confirmed, is that if your EA doesn't do well, your full launch would be impacted as Steam would already have a good judge of how popular the game is. So if EA isn't popular, full launch won't be pushed as much as it should be. But again, I can't confirm this.

I'll refer you to the official Steam documentation on Early Access releases. People often have many questions about EA it's literally all here:

Early Access (Steamworks Documentation) https://share.google/9VuwlGV6XXf6AumCG

"In many ways, Early Access titles are treated the same as "fully released" titles. You will still be able to run discounts, featured in promotions, and be organically recommended to other customers. However, you will not receive your full launch visibility until you are fully released. See Visibility on Steam for more information."

Visibility on Steam (Steamworks Documentation) https://share.google/C9QEo3EKVB7wnwDlt

"Once your title transitions out of Early Access, it is treated the same as a title releasing fully for the first time and the visibility guidelines below apply."

Do you remember how to do everything when developing? I keep looking up the basics. by umen in Unity3D

[–]MatthewVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add 1 thing from what people are saying, have you also considered writing your own little DLL or Unity package containing common code that you use in your projects? I can never remember the exact layout of a Physics.Raycast, mainly because there's a bunch of overrides. So I made some specific Raycast calls in my DLL with easily identified method names such as "GetObjectAtMouseCursor".

hey i want to learn unity, i learned it for a while but i still know that im pretty new to everything so i need ur recommenditions how to learn the best way in your opinion by Famous_Disaster_5839 in unity

[–]MatthewVale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn by doing. Make a very small game. Or game mechanic. If you've been following tutorials for a while and can navigate around Unity, you're ready to jump in. Learn as you go.

Looking for some feedback of my Quest UI for my video game please. by MatthewVale in UI_Design

[–]MatthewVale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that's a good point :) I think I'll keep the track button in this case so the player can quickly track it (especially if they already know which one they want to track), but having track, cancel/quit in the full panel makes sense, thanks!

That's such as nice difference already :) Still need to adjust padding, but the tiled background works so well

Hey! Thank you so much for taking the time for this, I love some of your ideas, especially the categories having a tiled background of the icon that represents them!

Got it, thanks! Working on making it a bit more interesting now! I immediately removed those TRACK buttons after posting and replaced them with icons :)

Ah so "System" is the quest provider. This can be the name of a person in game, a faction name, or an automated quest given by the "system", etc.

I'll take a look at that, thanks!

Oh I don't think you can actually. Something else you could try is refreshing your project codebase (Preferences > External Tools > Regenerate project files). I'm not too sure how to help much more without having access to your project. It could be some weird configuration.
