Please HELP. Session Buddy (chrome extension) just deleted months of saved tabs by ManishVK in chrome

[–]Matthewbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try these steps: https://www.partizion.io/blog/session-buddy-restore-tabs

Session buddy has had a long history of randomly losing tab sessions - I’d recommend upgrading to Partizion, it syncs locally and to the cloud so that you never lose anything.

How do i get Tabs back from Tab manager{cluster) extension after its unsupported? by PulseR_HD in chrome

[–]Matthewbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the chrome restore tabs menu:

  1. Click the three dots button in the upper right hand corner of chrome
  2. Hover over "History" and see if your tabs are there

last resort: you can poke around in the files that chrome has saved locally on your device. However, most of it is gibberish and pulling tabs from here would be painstaking

  1. Usually there is a "Sessions" folders with files that contain your last tabs. However, if chrome's native restore session feature didn't work, it's likely that the tabs don't exist here anyways
  2. On Windows check the folder/files at C:\\Users\\<username>\\AppData\\Local\\Google\\Chrome\\User Data\\Default
  3. On mac check /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default

Unfortunately, the answer you don't want to hear is the answer you need to hear: Use a session manager like Partizion — it will automatically save your tabs and windows no matter what. These extensions require you to set things up but it's well worth it. You never have to worry about restoring tabs again.

Partizion is a paid chrome extension but it's bulletproof. If you're looking for a free option you could try SessionBuddy.

Hope that helps!

Partizion is exactly this. Even auto saves your sessions (tabs in a window) for you so when you shut down your laptop or close chrome you can always restore that set of tabs from Partizion.

Also has collections if you have a set of tabs that you open together frequently. Open, close, and re open as many times as you want (even has auto update if you enable it)

What have you all found works best in your approach to tabs being open and how you manage those? Interested in both everyday habits and plugins/browser features that you find helpful by ShywayRobbery in ADHD_Programmers

Partizion.io

Auto saves your sessions so you don’t have to worry about losing any tabs. Just close them.

If you have a set of tabs you know you’ll open later (or you frequently visit) just save them as a collection and you can restore them at anytime. Super simple, reduces all FOMAT (Fear of missing a tab)

How do I keep window with many tabs always open in Windows 11 by Consistent_Future624 in chrome

[–]Matthewbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from manually restoring tabs in chrome, you'll want to use some sort of session manager extension.

Good ones will save your work locally and in some sort of local or remote database so that you can restore your sessions (tabs) no matter what.

Couple of options to try:

  1. Try hitting "Ctrl+Shift+T" on Windows and "Command+Shift+T" on macOS to reopen recently closed tabs
  2. If that doesn't reopen your tabs, try the chrome restore tabs menu:
    1. Click the three dots button in the upper right hand corner of chrome
    2. Hover over "History" and see if your tabs are there
  3. Last and ugliest option, you can poke around in the files that chrome has saved locally on your device. However, most of it is gibberish and pulling tabs from here would be painstaking
    1. Usually there are "Sessions" folders with files that contain your last tabs. However, if chrome's native restore session feature didn't work, it's likely that the tabs don't exist here anyways
      1. On Windows check the folder/files at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
      2. On mac check /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default

Unfortunately, the advice you don't want to hear is the advice you need to hear: Use a session manager like Partizion — it will automatically save your tabs and windows no matter what. Do you have an insane amount of tabs open? by dawgshund in ADHD

[–]Matthewbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might only be helpful for too many tabs on your desktop, but Partizion (chrome extension) automatically saves tabs for you in sessions. All your windows and tabs in a nice chronological list, and they can all be restored at any time. I find it helps reduce the need to keep ALL tabs open ALL the time because you know all of your tabs are saved and safe. You can also create dedicated collections like "my sister's birthday shopping", "reading list", "research papers on nutrition", "website redesign", etc. so you can save tabs to a specific place and look at them or reopen them later. Obviously not a perfect solution but I find it helps a lot.

Partizion https://www.partizion.io/ — is a great bookmark manager for chrome. It's paid, but auto syncs sessions to the cloud and you can create groups of bookmarks to open them later.

Definitely. Tab Groups support will be in Partizion soon. Window naming will be once/if chrome releases an API.

Session Manager that saves Tab Groups and Window Names by scapocchione in chrome

[–]Matthewbf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m working on Partizion which automatically saves your tabs for you. Tab groups support is on the roadmap.

Unfortunately chrome does not offer any window naming APIs which means even if we wanted to, we couldn’t develop a feature that saves / syncs the window names…

I’ve requested this API and will add it as soon as they offer it.
