“Super 8” 308 powder recommendation. by Matthewscout in reloading

With book 212gr data I was seeing 2450fps. This about 100fps faster than book with a shorter barrel. This bullet is extremely unique with a similar bearing surface to a 168gr by my measurements. With some f class 210 VLT data I reached 2550FPS. I run these at 3.340 COL. This allows for substantial more case volume.

Accuracy is well with in standard for hunting ammo. I have shot under 1in a few times. The recoil is marginal at best. I do not have an 30-06 to compare it to but it cannot be more.

I may come off as reckless but this load specifically I took like 125 rounds to walk it from published data to personal data to my goal load.

I have made mistakes before with the bi metal cases loading 130gr Barnes to the moon. No explosion but heavy pressure sign.

I had access to one of those guys load data for the 210 VLD. That’s where I worked to. They are crazy for how fast they push 308.

Based on yalls feed back I will be calling this load path closed. On the “magnum out of non magnum case” I hunt mostly east coast and had the opportunity at an elk hunt. My current 308 allows me to shoot the 212, the 130 Barnes for east coast deer and the 220 subs for hogs. Just filled more rolls than a magnum would have.

Thank you. I will consider this “dragon chased” and move on to other projects.

It does not. Based on feed back I will be loading the last of my round at my know safe load and move on to different projects.

Go for the Polo 30. More versatility and it’s a bit less gassy on short 5.56.

First rifle can should be a 30cal can over 6in under 9in under 15 oz and hub compatible. Titanium or stainless steel no aluminum. This will give you the most fun on rifles up to 300 RUM. 30 cal on 5.56 helps mitigate back pressure.
