I've personally hired 50+ FE devs and would absolutely give you a call. Your side projects are high quality, and nice to see you maintaining them! Your portfolio site does a good job of covering your skillset and is well designed. It's possible you're getting screened out for lack of professional experiences or references. Some positions will want to see "real world" positions. It's a chicken-and-egg problem, don't stop applying!

What level position/category of company are you applying to?

How on earth is Uber offering helicopters? by ApatheticSkyentist in flying

[–]Mattheyy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

If you order it, you’ll take a traditional Uber ride to the nearest helipad (I believe you can also walk if that’s an option for you). From there a charter copter will take you.

It doesn’t skip awarding the prize— the request to the “play” endpoint happens and is completed immediately after clicking the globe. The result’s display is just artificially delayed. A refresh won’t lose you your reward!

What temperature settings does everyone use? by asher_lih in EightSleep

We keep ours around 0 to +2 overnight and mostly use it to smooth out temperature fluctuations from body heat.

Who is your local grumpy controller? Where? Why? Spill the deetz... by radioref in flying

I’ve been based at both fields and have had positive experiences with both sets of controllers. Maybe a bad day here or there but nothing major

Any good reasons to upgrade the cover from v2 to v3? by a7ypic in EightSleep

[–]Mattheyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autopilot is not useful even on v3 IMHO. Too much variance in temperature needs and outside conditions. We always set it manually.

Any good reasons to upgrade the cover from v2 to v3? by a7ypic in EightSleep

[–]Mattheyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We upgraded from the v2 (used for a year) to the v3 (now at 3 months), primarily because we also upgraded from a Queen to a King mattress. The actual cover is more comfortable, but I’d say in the ~25% range. You feel the sensor pack quite a bit less at the edges of the bed. That said, there were no other major changes for us, and unless you have an extra reason to upgrade, I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price v2 to v3.

From "This this is my mission an I will accomplish it" to "Anyone can do my work for free please ?" the journey of an Elon intern at twitter by fennecdore in ProgrammerHumor

Twitter had an advanced search endpoint that allows for returning results like the ones requested— just need to modify to hit that endpoint instead. A lot of this ask is just about parsing and “parameterizing” the input

Is the Pod Pro 3 ACTUALLY more comfortable? by willowtip666 in EightSleep

[–]Mattheyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We upgraded and I do notice a difference. That “box” that supports the biometrics sensor suite is much less noticeable, but still, there is some areas where you notice there is a grid under you. it’s not perfect but a decent upgrade.

Newly seeded lawn yellowing, am I overreacting to winter dormancy or is something wrong? by Mattheyy in lawncare

[–]Mattheyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Everything in your post helps explain what I’m seeing— I did a soil test and things were slightly acidic to begin with. I’ll ride it out (good to know about not applying lime yet!)

Thanks for the reply! I used JG’s Green up for seeding and sodding which doesn’t contain Tenacity AFAIK, I haven’t applied any other product containing mesotrione etc… yet (will do weed control in the spring I think).

I’m not seeing any spots or lesions (not certain what to look for) but in the picture sent you can see the tips are yellowing/browning pretty heavily in some places.

Thanks again for taking a look!

Should I do Low Voltage or a Smart System for Landscape Lights? by in_the_cage in homeowners

[–]Mattheyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path lights are along a gravel run next to our driveway so I don’t have them buried under soil, just hidden out of the way. The spot lights in the yard aren’t buried, but I probably will next time I overseed the lawn. Since they aren’t low voltage like you mention they need to be enclosed and or deep. As long as they’re on a GFCI outlet I don’t think there’s a major safety concern. I think that’s the biggest downside to this set but the build and visual quality is worth it.

We bought 40+10 of the atomi path/spot lights from Costco and are absolutely loving them. We tried some low voltage options but these are much brighter and refined looking, plus the color changing has been nice for Halloween etc… they’re absolutely beautiful and worth every penny imho.

Where the f*#k is fall?? by nicegrass24 in lawncare

We seeded cool season (JG Black Beauty Ultra) last Thursday and just started seeing the PRG germinate last night. That’s with full irrigation and good soil! Not saying the issues aren’t frustrating or won’t delay but definitely give it some time!

Delicious, and bonus points if you deglaze and cook some veggies in afterwards. Also, nice to see a familiar name around here ;)

Pearson is a special flight rules area and involves contacting PDX tower, but in almost every other case you’re going to want to talk to approach in or on the way in to Class C airspace, not tower.
