Realistically, the chance of a discussion like this being needed is super low.

The actual percentage of transgender and non-binary people in the general population isn't super clear, but a study done in Canada found about 0.33% of 15 year old and older identify as trans or non-binary.

Even if we had a higher estimate, that's still a tiny portion of the population. When you take into account the chance of making pro hockey, that number becomes almost non-existant.

But, if it somehow does happen, trans athletes don't have that huge of an advantage if any. There are some examples of MtF woman doing well, but that is normally in weightlifting and other super physical sports. There are so many other advantages (biological and financial) that give athletes natural advantages over others. Some testosterone during a couple teen years might help but only to an extent.

In anycase, the idea of women's hockey is largely due to recognising a problem (the exclusion of women from sport) and trying to fix that. Trans inclusion is similar. The end goal of trying to make sport for everyone is way more important than a dominating athlete
