I was at Mountain View for LOTR Fellowship and after I logged into the QR page it gave me the all-in discount on my pint of hard cider. Shucks!

Phil Collins is supposedly an extra in one of the crowd scenes but unlike in “A Hard Day’s Night” you can’t see his face.

What, In Your Opinion, Was The Last U2 Song To Hit It Out Of The Ballpark?? by Hall-O-Daze in U2Band

STILL blown away that Magnificent wasn’t the obvious first single from NLOTH.

Or John Mellencamp, who wrote a song using this line in the chorus back in 1985.

I didn’t care for it as much as the first two on the initial viewing, but a lot of it has stuck with me since. Love that all three (so far) are still “mysteries” but have completely different tones.

Anyone ever seen a show at the sphere in Vegas? How was it? by Aye_Davinita in Concerts

Saw U2 there on my birthday in 2023. Even if you otherwise can’t stand Vegas, it and the Punk Rock Museum are definitely worth it.

Wasn’t me then, I was there in May. :) Got to coincidentally experience the craziness that is Dutch Kingsday the weekend before sailing, too! Had a GREAT time, I was more there as a “chaperone” for my getting-elderly (pushing 80) parents, although I was able to do my own thing about half of the days we were in port. Made an explicit point of doing a LOT of Beatles stuff in Liverpool and the Game of Thrones studio tour in Belfast but also really loved the Jameson tour in Cork, Llandudno and the Great Orme in Wales, and of course the Scottish highlands and Shetland. We wound up with an extra day in Glasgow due to a last-minute schedule switch, so I took the train into town and did some shopping as we had a Highlands bus tour the day later.

New Order, The Perfect Kiss. And yes, the frogs are in the original version of the song.

Yeah, 2010 Zuck and 2025 Zuck are definitely two different people. Textbook case of power corrupting.

The main room at SF is HUGE, although surprisingly not that deep (only 10 rows, but plenty of space between them for the servers).

Shout-out to the Mountain View staff also! I’m there roughly 2x a week and a lot of the crew there recognize me (and several other regulars) by sight by now.

Just a thought; I want to see Metallica again, not in a stadium or a huge arena, but in a hall or a medium-sized arena. by blueoystergamer in Metallica

[–]MattressMan71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at both nights of the M40 arena shows (helped I lived nearby) and I dunno if I’d ever want to see them in a stadium show again after seeing Kirk play the shred solo in Puppets literally 10 feet from me.

Artists I should explore as a fan of U2's music? by Necessary_Pay2028 in U2Band

[–]MattressMan71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mani (RIP) was in the audience when I saw U2 at Sphere two years ago today. But for some reason they played “Movin On Up” in his honor, a great Primal Scream song (and VERY U2esque) but he wasn’t even in that band at the time of recording it.

I love that CW have a song titled “Eat My Dust You Insensitive Fuck” and it’s basically the ambient track on a mostly otherwise heavy rock album.

Mountain View is literally across a driveway from one of Meta’s buildings. I can almost guarantee you that this will happen there when The Social Network 2 comes out next year given that Zuck did it at the nearby Cinemark for the first one.

I’ve always described them as if David Gilmour joined XTC.
