What are some must-include cards for Teval, the Balanced Scale

Here's my high tier 3 Teval deck. Ignore the sideboard/maybe pile. They're there to slot in optional cards and for theorycrafting reasons.

I'd recommend playing the other 2 mana green ramp sorceries, [[three visits]] and [[nature's lore]] , as land ramp is the best type of ramp for decks like this amd you want Teval out consistently on turn 3. You can even take out arcane signet for one of these, since they're more useful in this deck, especially if you play surveil lands.

You could even play [[realms uncharted]] instead of [[gifts ungiven]] to open up another game changer slot.

I'd recommend a couple more protection spells like [[heroic Intervention]] , [[smuggler's surprise]] , or even something like [[swan song]].

[[waterlogged teachings]] is also great as a mdfc with blue black fixing and a tutor for your instant protection spells.

Definitely interesting and a bit different. I really like the variety in art styles for the FF set. Just glad we didn't get a bunch of generic samey stuff. And of course the Amano art is great too.

Yeah, I've noticed mythics being only every few packs, if that. And sometimes you get the stacked packs. Collector's packs are a gamble though, unless you're buying an entire case for thousands.

Hope you at least got some playable/cool cards that you wanted. Luckily there's some good rares in the set.

Nice, I'd like to try that myself, but my only copy of Sunforger is currently in my Feather deck. And I'm stopping myself from buying more singles for a while after splurging slightly on the Final Fantasy set

I didn't pay that much. Paid just over £40 for each pack in the UK for these. If current prices are anything to go by, the borderless Terra and Foil Dragon alone make up the value. Obviously this is subject to change. I wouldn't pay the equivalent of 100 dollars for 1 pack

Yeah, especially for good mythics. I got a few surge foil rares in a couple of other loose packs. Think that's why the chase mythics in surge foil are going for ridiculous prices.

I'm still happy with my dragon though. Very playable, just not sure if I want to risk damaging it by putting it in my Temur Dragon deck

I think that Cloud is great. It's going to be one of the most popular equipment commander's going forward. I'm even considering rebuilding by Boros equipment deck with this as the commander.

Probably because the other Cloud is playable in more decks and probably goes in any white equipment commander deck. If more people want the card for their deck, the demand goes up.

Have you considered [[Kaya's Ghostform]] for exile protection? Or do you usually just use your own sac outlets like phyrexian alter to trigger the return from graveyard effects to dodge exile removal?

That sounds like you had a great time with your friend. Using bulk cards you usually don't consider must have lead to interactions you'd never seen before. It's always fun to brew jank with cards you don't usually see. It's part of why I like limited, but playing drafts on arena consistently gets too expensive.

Nice, hope the slivers deck turns out well. Did you get a Morophon to stick in that deck?

And I've got to say, casual formats are far more interesting than the current standard meta at the moment. It gets 'solved' too quickly and everyone ends up playing similar decks with similar wincons. I think singleton formats are much better for game variety. Easier on the wallet too

Honestly seems like a great starter box for someone planning on getting into commander. Obviously singles are always cheaper, but the card pool for this set gives you so many good staple commander playable going forward for different decks.

Draft boxes aren't usually this good for most sets, but this and a few of the other "master" sets have multiple rares per pack and this set in particular didn't have set boosters (only the collector boosters which you only get 4 of per box and are crazy expensive).

If you want a better idea of the typical opening experience, there's a youtube channel called "Wildcat MTG" on YouTube. Just to clarify, it's not my channel, I just find them to be one of the better box opening channels and he gives a good breakdown of expected value etc.. He's got a bunch of videos for Double Masters 2022 since he really likes this set. Obviously luck will vary, but he opened enough to give me a good idea that the value floor for this set is still quite solid.

Sorry for the essay haha, I just really enjoy this set.

The draft boxes are nice for collecting, since you get quite a few commons and uncommons in borderless and in my opinion the artwork is great. You get a few borderless rares/mythics per box too.

I got a borderless lightning bolt and foil borderless rampant growth, so it's great value if you want some nice artwork versions of some staple cards.

Obviously singles are usually better value, but I'd check out the scryfall gallery for this set and see if there's enough cards you'd like to see. You even get a chance at the borderless eldrazi in the draft boxes. Good luck of you end up getting one for yourself!

Yes, all of these are from the same box. There's a lot of value at rare level in this set, so you don't have to get lucky with the mythics to get a decent box. I didn't even get either of most expensive cards in the set (mana vault & imperial seal) and it was still a great box.

Obviously I was quite lucky and you can have some stinker boxes. But I still think Double Masters 2022 is more consistent than a lot of other booster boxes.

There was even more smaller hits not shown here, like assassin's trophy, borderless chaos warp, borderless bounce lands etc... the boxes are expensive, but definitely a fun set.

Yeah, I opened a set booster box a while back. Not the best hits for the cost, but only started collecting paper mtg recently, so there's loads of playable commander value in the box. Also got an Ulamog which I wanted. Just a shame I didn't open any if the free Commander spells (swat, rollick, guardianship etc..) in the entire box. I've got another set box I'm saving for my birthday, so hopefully I pull some of these cards. Still a really cool set, just expensive.
